There's a few decent weapons available to you right now that you can try out to see if you like any of them, and upgrading them each to +5 really won't take long at all if you're grinding the gargoyles for humanity. Spend the extra souls you have on shards instead of levels, as having upgraded equipment is more important than having a high SL. Next to the shortcut through that big gate where the boar was (in front of the front entrance to the church) is a halberd. I believe it requires 16 STR and is essentially a heavy-hitting spear with more powerful attacks. Alternatively, Andre the blacksmith sells a bastard sword which also requires 16 STR and is similar to the Claymore you can get back underneath the red drake on the bridge. Those are more STR-oriented weapons. If you want a good DEX weapon, you could either painstakingly grind the Balder knights hoping a Balder side sword drops. The damage on it doesn't look incredible, but it scales incredibly well with DEX and has a great reach and move-set. It would help if you have 10 banked humanity to increase your item find to 210. Also, if you've bought everything you need from the undead male merchant, you could kill him (he's back in the burg across from the bonfire with the ladder shortcut) for his Uchigatana. It requires 14 STR and 14 DEX to wield one-handed, but has good reach and a great move-set, scales well with DEX and causes bleed. You could get the Drake sword underneath the bridge, also, but I'd advise against this as though it will be a great immediate upgrade, it isn't something that will be useful much further than blighttown and you may even feel its effectiveness dropping off before then. Some people happily take it all the way to Sen's fortress until they get the lightning spear, though, but by then I much prefer to have a weapon with good scaling that is upgraded to +9/10. So there's plenty of options available to you right now to try out a few different types of weapons that, if upgraded, should last you quite a while. So play around and have fun trying out a few different things to discover for yourself what you like.

Honestly, I don't think I'll ever use the Drake Sword again. It's got great damage for a starting sword but its moveset is really sluggish and awkward. I'd rather just take the extra step and +5 a claymore.

Charge through as fast as you can (switch to light armor) and run up to the the one on the right. He'll switch to a sword and you just need to block carefully. He'll eventually fall off the ledge. You can sneak up there with Hidden Body or the Fog Ring, but you'll still have to fight them.

Mastiff posted:Please offer me tips on how to kill the two black knight snipers in Anor Londo. If you just run fast up the buttress, they probably won't hit you. When you get to the ledge, run quickly up to the one on the right, then keep your shield up. Take a hit or two on the shield, and if he hasn't fallen off already, give him a kick to help him on his way. Also, if you're careful with roll timing, you can roll right under their arrows.

Mastiff posted:Please offer me tips on how to kill the two black knight snipers in Anor Londo. It only takes two arrows to poison a dragonbow sniper, and if you manage t hit them in the head, they'll become staggered too long to fire back at you before you can land the second arrow. The poison should take off all of their health, and all you need to do is run back to some safe space with cover and wait. Equip the Ring of Fog and you should be able to get well within range of them before they spot you.

four kings on ngp. What a loving pain. Even great combustion with +5 super pyro hand just takes a tiny sliver away. 40 dex, 26 vit/end, 18 magic. using a +14 great scythe, which doesn't seem to be 'cutting it' as it were. Should I enchant it? are they susceptible to magic? I looked on the wiki and all it really said was to use great magic barrier, which I need 6 more magic/int to cast. Should I pump that stat, then? If I do then I can also use crystal magic weapon, currently I can cast great magic weapon.

She'll tell you if it's something she doesn't want, and you can only trade an item with her once. Quitting and reloading is the way to ensure that her granted item shows up properly, though, so as long as she does her "something warm, something soft" spiel, you drop something, and she says nothing you should get something as long as you've not dropped that item before. Mosses are good test items to be sure she's working as expected.

You'll reload at the bonfire, then just take out the hollows between you and the nest, gain a cool 1000 souls, pick up your item and touch your bloodstain. Repeat. Also, for those of you looking for weapons to use on the skeletons, if you killed the first merchant for his Uchigatana, instead of making a Divine Reinforced Club you can just use the Morningstar tucked underneath where the two elevators are. That's what I've been using to take care of skeletons, at least.

I haven't done the fight yet, but supposedly Quelaag's Furysword is also very good against them since they're weak to fire (possibly weak to chaos fire in particular?), and with a 40 dex build and 10 humanity, you'll be getting the best possible damage out of it. Also, the wikidot page says that using a Dark Hand as a shield will actually fully block their magic projectile attacks for very little stamina loss, so if you're having trouble with that attack and have a Dark Hand, it could be worth a shot.

If it's going down slowly, it's just poison and you can Estus Flask it while you wander about for Purple Moss Clumps if you need them. If it's going down at a pretty good clip, you've probably been Toxined and you should quickly use a Blooming Purple Moss Clump before you d--you're dead.

It took a lot of effort and what felt like an infinite number of deaths but I finally beat all the bosses up to 4 Kings my SL1 Pyro. Long story short, if you get killed by a darkwraith with a treasure chest for a head in Undead Burg / Parish that will be me. The Midniter Keep trying and make sure to summon Soltaire. He is good at tanking / being a distraction as you take the gargoyles down one at a time. Their fire breath hits pretty hard so try not to stand between them and get hit from behind. Also, if I do invade you, I'll try not to kill you.

Yeah that happens but not as often as you'd think (at least in Parish). Usually one of two things happen. If they have made it up stairs I wait at the top and do a lunging attack while they climb the ladder or I run downstairs, close the middle gate if it's open, then go kill them near the blacksmith bonfire. The gate thing is mostly adding future insult to current injury.

I just got summoned in anor londo and could not find my summoner. I decided to start right at the start, go through the roof of the painting chapel. I got to the end and even pulled the lever for the middle-of-long-bridge-at-start raiser when I was booted out by my host for not being around. I worked out right afterwards that he was probably a lot further along, and I just lowered his bridge thing. He'll be pissed later! Got summoned again and knocked off by an archer! yay anor londo!

I worked out right afterwards that he was probably a lot further along, and I just lowered his bridge thing. He'll be pissed later! I had a game of hide and seek in AL earlier today. Started around the second bonfire, and ran through the level like I was heading to O&S. No enemies until I got to the main hall, where the archer and one of the giant knights was dead but the other was still hanging. I head outside towards the bridge, which I notice is down. Figuring I've got him caught, I raise the bridge then head down to Gwyn's tomb. He's not there. I scope out the cathedral, and all of the guardians are hanging out so I know he's not hiding there. I finally head back to the main hall, where I'm lucky enough to see the remaining giant knight moving back to position. I run towards the Sunbro bonfire, and sure enough run smack into him. One CSS later and he's dead. Really anti-climatic ending for all that running around. Invading in AL and there are two beefed up white phantoms right in front of me. I do some rolling/casting and get lucky, killing the two phantoms and then ultimately killing the host. 3v1, and I won! I got a message from the host saying I need to get a life. Assisting in AL is a lot of fun when there's an invasion. I've yet to lose a match, although I'm decked out in some dumb looking stuff since I'm not actively PVPing, so maybe I just don't look like I'm worth bothering with. Did some assisting in New Londo and got summoned by the dumbest host ever. Constantly flasking, trying to barge through the room with the ghosts and darkwraiths, decked out in Gwyndolin's set of all things. The guy was an idiot. Somehow we ended up with three Kings all attacking us at once, and I guess he thought it was a good idea to split the up, as every time I'd try to gang up on the one he was attacking he'd run for another one. Let me tell you, trying to dodge attacks from three Kings at once is a stressful thing.
