The Japanese trailer lists the dlc as coming out October 25th in Japan. Considering this generations penchant for dlc release parity assuming no exclusive rights have been bought, I'd assume it comes out simultaneously for all of us around that time.

Also it lists it for 12,500 yen or something like that, so expect to pay $15 USD

Goodness knows, I've never picked a hat based on its stats. Or any armour, come to think of it. Usually I go for Elite Knight Armour and whatever hat strikes my fancy. But I think the Silver Knight set is quite good so I'm gonna give that a whirl.

For the last few weeks, I've played Demon's Souls. I must state that the first game is so much more bearable after the second. Which seems unusual, but Dark Souls is literally the perfect (gamer's) game. It's hard to think of, but playing Demon's Souls has increased my love of Dark Souls, since Demon's Souls is riddled with bugs. The dual Maneater boss was the hardest since I'd dodge-roll, and constantly get stuck in a pillar (or behind) I couldn't get out of except for instant death. Which also happened for several other bosses.

Dark Souls didn't have any of that.

I don't know about anyone else, but when I see a sequel improve on its original in every single way, I become ecstatic. So few sequels do such.

The Duke's Archives is the worst. I figured that playing the entire game as a primarily melee character with low intelligence would be easy enough but i've hit a serious brick wall here. The crystal golems in and around the caves are destroying me, not to mention the crystal butterflies which I have no means to killing except for throwing 100 wooden arrows at them. That and I can't survive long enough as human to get help. Players keep invading me and one-shoting me with wrath of god or an unblockable weapon. This is seriously putting me off playing any further.

I'm basically stuck. I could go do tomb of giants or bop on down to lost izalith but that is just delaying the problem. Any ideas?

Absolutely agreed on both of these, also playing Demon's Souls and noticing all the parallels between them increased my love of both games. In addition to this it has drove me crazy thinking of how amazing the next Souls game will be given the improvements from one to the next as well as everything they've learned from making them both.

Golems are slow and the butterflies don't aggro if you don't attack them. Just run past.

Don't fight the butterflies. You don't have to they're completely docile.

If you're pure melee I'm assuming you're focusing on str/dex. If so pick a strike weapon. I have no clue if golems would actually be weak to it but it makes sense. That might give you the edge. Otherwise study and learn their patterns, they're extremely predictable.

run past all of the golems and all of the butterflies. Inside the cave itself are two golems you probably need to fight, but all the ones outside can be run past.

There's only one golem you have to fight and he doesn't respawn. Also, I believe golems have resistance to lightning as well as their ridiculous magic resistance but I may be wrong. If you're around SL 80there should be plenty of summons right by the bonfire before you can get invaded.

So, any tricks for cutting off Seath's tail? I'm doing an sorcerer/INT-based build and am trying to get the Moonlit Greatsword, but I keep loving up. The main weapon I'm using is a +3 enchanted falchion, but it really doesn't seem to be doing enough damage to Seath. I'm trying to do the whole "hang out by the crystal tree and bait him into destroying it" bit so I can stun him for a little while, but I'm having trouble doing enough damage to cut off his tail. Since I'm doing a sorcerer build, most of my levels have gone into intelligence and attunement, so my strength/ dexterity is kinda lacking, 16 and 14. Any tips?

I had the same problem. It's pretty much the very absolute tip of the tail. Some people have him destroy the crystal and then run for it, but I could never make that work right for me. I just ended up circling him and chugging on any kind of heal until I could snag his tail tip and get the sword.

Here's my solution to enemies I'm having trouble with on the way to the boss: throw a fireball at it. Chaos fireballs wreck anything that it can hit twice on for a very long time.

Run. Just loving run. Don't fight anything at all and you'll be just fine. It's pretty much the only way I could consistently get to Seath, and it sounds like we had similar builds. That area doesn't have many enemies who directly impede your progress, and they're all at the end.

Well I guess someone else already did the SL3 run, but my update is that I'm in Anor Londo now. I broke the ring of FAP and am right now using bellow + slumber or bellow + hyper mode. The first pair was great for Sen's. The other ring I would consider for magic resistant bosses like Seath is dusk crown. I also didn't realize that buffs continued after you rested at a bonfire.

I did buy a bunch of stuff from Logan, except soul mass which I can't use anyway. Magic shield might be helpful for four kings, though I didn't realize the stronger version is available in Duke's Archives.

Nasgate
Jun 7, 2011

Soul mass also lasts through bonfire sits, it's a nice way to start a level. Though this doesn't help your current character. Doorways and upwards elevators are the enemies of soul mass though.

So my no shield run turned into a Halberds mostly(after I get the first halberd) run. It really really rules. Especially since I got a Gargoyle halberd from a host and one from the first gargoyles!! Now i'm owning O+S with a Lightning and Chaos Gargoyle Halberd. I'm also using the parrying dagger since it looks boss.

What really looks awesome is equipping a halberd in each hand for cutscenes. My only problem is that they both face the same direction(right) instead of both away from your face which would look even cooler.

Also, Sack and Elite knight legs/gauntlets looks like a gladiator. But then I fell in love with the onion helmet.

man what

Having two player phantoms, one of which is a sunbro, helping me on the way to Quelaag and then suddenly disconnecting somehow as soon as I enter Quelaag's Domain is very sad. I then had to suffer through a few 'dud' helpers before I finally managed to kill her. At least she's a predictable boss, and once you've seen all her moves you're unlikely to ever die against her again.

Is there any kind of trick to the Man-serpents in Sen's Fortress? I got as far as getting the Lightning Spear but I was chugging Estus the whole way. Anything to do other than step up my game and block more? Handling one of them at a time is pretty easy, more than one (like the first two at the entrance) can be a little harrowing.

It's just. That. Simple.

For the sword-and-shield serpents, you can easily parry them, or just keep back, they give you ample time to counter their strikes. The cobras are a bit harder, since you pretty much have to kill at least two of them at range to safely get across bridges. Your best bet for them is any kind of ranged attack, particularly arrows, since they're highly susceptible to headshots.

For the first two at the entrance, you can bait them into getting hit by the arrows from the trap, all three arrows landing into one of them should outright kill him.

With regards to halberds, they're really awesome. Chaos +5 and 10 humanity on any of the four main halberds (Halberd, Gargoyle, Scythe, Lucerne) are pretty much a wrecking machine on par with or better than stuff like a Claymore, Lightning +5 is also pretty killer. Hell, aside from the stability/poise damage, I'd argue that halberds are better than Ultra Greatswords in the majority of cases.
