So came back to Undead Asylum and I can't get off a plunging attack on the boss. I end up landing on the ground instead of the boss and end up taking absurd fall damage. Any tips for positioning at the start of the fight?

The snipers are really pissing me off. It's not even something measurable for me to improve to get past them. I got successfully to the right sniper one time without dying, but I didn't realize the other sniper wasn't in a position to see me, and I panicked, ran out of endurance and fell off the side. Every other time I get shot in the back before I can get out of his sight, then in the front from stagger and I'm shot off the side. This is loving retarded.

Of course the first thing I did down there was fall straight into the curse frog pit - I thought I was dead for sure, but walking out of there 6000 souls richer was awesome. I just found Kirk. Before he could do anything a rat got a critical hit in and slaughtered me.

I can't believe with the way the DeS thread turned that nobody has complained about the inclusion of the acid surge pyromancy in this game. Just found it. Can't wait to troll some forest hunters. I guess it's because PvP is so hard to get going that people haven't had to deal with it yet?

Use a pot after he uses his frontal cone magic attack. If you see him raise his axe in a vertical way he's gonna do a 360 magic attack so run back a little and attack him once he finishes it. Thats the whole fight, nothing should kill you unless you miss time a roll and get his fat rear end on your skull.

RBA Starblade posted:Are you supposed to use it or drop it? You turn human, find a place in an area you would like to curse for other players and use it. You will be asked if you'd like to grief other players when you use it. Hit YES. Then your character will start emitting stink lines (maybe its just me) but you will not see anything on the floor. Supposedly the people you have cursed will see the sign and be prompted to come kill you. So either hide it, or put it somewhere easily spotted if you want to fight. I think you win some souls and another eye of death if you kill someone coming to kill you for cursing them. But I haven't gotten anyone to bite yet, and the curse frogs take forever to drop, although I now have a ring that improves item discovery so I will probably spend a bunch of time killing frogs tonight or tomorrow. I'm SL 35 with my gravelord character, what areas are people in around that level in case I need to find people close to my level to curse? I'm in Anor Londo right now, and I tried Sens Fortress with no luck.

I had a really productive afternoon playing. After spending several hours dying to Havel, I managed to kill him on my second attempt. I then went back to Firelink Shrine and cleaned out the cemetary, although I never saw a necromancer that some people mentioned; picked up the Zweihander and binoculars though. Then, I figured out how to get to the Undead Asylum and cleared it out, except for that goddamn Stray Demon. I did manage to get a sword from one of the Black Knights, too. Finally, I did the Lower Undead Burg and killed Capra Demon on my first attempt. I sort of cheesed him, though. I just killed the dogs and ran up the stairs. The Capra Demon stayed down near the tree and I threw firebombs on him until he was at 1/6 health and then did a drop down attack, which killed him. Now, I just need to figure out where to go next. I guess either the Catabombs or the Depths maybe. Any suggestions for another place to go?

Just beat my first playthrough. The last boss is AAA+++. Amazing atmosphere, amazing fight, amazing ending. I chose the Good ending, and it was just perfectly understated. You release the Flame back into a world where only Embers remained. That's it. Credits roll. Then the opening cinematic plays again, welcome to New Game+ motherfucker. I ended the game around SL 70ish, I farmed a fair bit in Anor Londo the first time I went there. I finished the last third of the game with Ornstein's armor, the Greatshield of Artorias, a Divine Claymore +10, a Black Knight Sword +5, and a Black Knight Halberd +5. I swapped Ornstein's armor out for Havel's and the Gold-Edged Black set for a few bosses. The only spells I used were Heal and Replenishment. I found the best way to enjoy the game is to just embrace your inevitable death. The last third of the game is just the game killing you instantly in new and novel ways, and you learning how to avoid it. Every fight can be won, I was playing the game offline and was Hollow about 99% of the time. I didn't use any special Soul farming tricks or super optimized builds. The hardest fight for me was Seath the Scaleless, but once I realized that his frontal attacks are actually easier to deal with than his rear attacks I just ran up to him and smacked him down in one go. I'm really looking forward to trying different builds out. I played through with a big fat shield and big armor for 90% of the game, especially in the end. The Greatshield of Artorias is just AMAZING. With the right rings I could tank the last boss through every single one of his attacks for 30 seconds or more before my stamina started to get low. I never lost more than 10% of my stamina in one shot with that ridiculous shield. I think my next build will be a Dex/Int caster, focusing on Sorceries and weapons like Velka's Rapier and the Moonlight Butterfly Horn. I love that there's at least 4-5 more ways to play the game that I haven't even touched yet. What a great experience.

First time I get to summon, I got a dude who knew how to play, helped ripped the dragon's tail off, and we slaughtered the gaping dragon! Nice. That was pretty bad rear end.

So after fighting my way through curse frogs (which was honestly the most stressful and satisfying series of fights in the game) I have my fancy Ring of the Evil Eye. Can anyone get some numbers on this with regards to healing?

And does it heal more depending on the kind of enemy you kill?

I've been lurking in human form in the forest like some kind of gay trucker waiting for some truckstop action. Unfortunately half the time the door mists over it stays misted for ages then unmists without anyone invading. It's like waiting for that knock at the cubicle and then when it comes it's a dad on a roadtrip and he just wants somewhere both his kids can piss. When someone does finally invade though I wreck them with my big, meaty gravelord sword.

Slashing breaks the skeletons down, they crumble and you can hit them in between. Well I am making some progress but have a few questions. I was wondering what I should do after the depths? Should I move into Blighttown? It seems pretty painful right now but maybe I should just continue to try and get through it. I have yet to do the forest and was wondering if maybe I should have done that before? Perhaps the place under firelink or the place after the graveyard? Also, why does my character look a lot more hollowed and has blue lips and is not the nice face I chose on creation?

Probably got missed in how fast the thread moves, but where did most people go after finishing Blighttown? I came back to clear everything out, since I initially took the shortcut and can't seem to get the loot thats on the other side of this polyp lookin thing hanging on the wall. I hit it with firebombs that did nothing, am I intended to just roll past it?

For everybody having trouble with the two silver knight archers, I too despaired, yet I came upon the easiest solution for meleeing those guys. Firstly de-equip your armour/put on some light armour so you can roll faster, sprint upto the middle safe area and wait for them to stop shooting. Then sprint up the rest to the ledge as fast as you can, the only time they will both be able to hit you is if they shoot while you are on the ledge so listen for the timing of the sound. If they both shoot you should be able to leap the first one and roll under the second one by tapping the roll button as you sprint. You should go for the guy on the LEFT first because you can safely melee him while hidden from the other guy behind the big pole in the middle. Once he's down make sure you are hidden still and heal up, then run upto the other guy and get as close as possible by dodging his arrows with rolls to make him get his sword out. Hopefully now he shouldn't be able to push you back and you can finish him off in melee.
