1. Am I strong enough to head back to the asylum? I dont want to get stuck there if Im not.

2. Rhea and her pals have disappeared on their quest but Petrus remains. Should I have killed Petrus sooner if I wanted her alive?

You can't get stuck there. The boss is tough until you figure him out, but once you've got it down he is easy. Everything there is optional and you can get back at any time.

My friend got this game recently, but he has a really weird controller issue. For whatever reason, items get used when he didn't push a button, so sometimes he might be fighting an enemy and he'll suddenly drink an Estus Flask, or he might switch weapons/two-handed style when his fingers weren't on the D-Pad at all. Any ideas?

Read the OP and some posts to see if this was somewhat of an issue, but there are just so many that I had to give up and ask.

Sounds like a problem with the controller. There are some issues with queued actions and delayed inputs, but inputs that he's certain he's not making are probably due to a damaged controller. Any chance he can try another controller out and see if the same issues persist?

No, you just need to kill him before you rescue her. I think if you kill him before (or while) they're there, it can make them aggressive.

He can still save her. After he rescues her from the catacombs he should head directly to the Undead Parish church to talk to Rhea, then go down to Petrus' usual spot by firelink and kill his fat chortleing rear end.

Yeah, but I always kill him beforehand just to be safe.

Little tip: if you can, wait until you kill the Four Kings and join the Darkwraiths. You can suck two humanity out of his corpulent mass before you kill him.

For the part where you say you can't get onto the platform you need to just walk along the edge, or as close as you can, of the platform as if there were walk-able ground and get to the next root. It looks like you can't but you can. Great Hollow can be defeated!

I wanted to get the Pendant item that Rhea leaves behind so I just wandered for a while, but Petrus just wouldn't do anything. I think that "can't go to two other areas without talking to Rhea" is bullshit. I went to pretty much every other area in the game world and still nothing happened.

Man, just join the Forest Hunters. Don't be a dick; Rhea's nice.

Since the Hawk Ring increases bow range, I have two questions:
1. By how much?
2. Since less damage is dealt the farther away things are, is it static (e.g., 50m away is -30 damage) or scaling (e.g., 50m away is -30% damage), distance static (e.g., 40% of the range away is -30 damage) or distance scaling (e.g., 40% of the range away is -30% damage)?

In New Londo itself. Darkwraiths drop Titanite Chunks pretty often, and even rarely Titanite Slabs. They're kind of a pain in the rear end to farm, though, due to there not being any bonfires in all of New Londo Ruins.

I defeated the boss in Tomb of Giants and now I want to farm the tiny skeletons for humanity but... do I really have to warp out and go through the entire tomb again to get to them? Or is there a way out of the Altar of the Gravelord that doesn't involve warping? I don't know if I'm cool with running back from Firelink.

You can always pick up a pyro hand in the depths. If you re-roll as a pyro that's when it gets good anyway. Just get the drake sword, some some help, and beat those gargoyles face in.

In other news, I don't like the darkwraith covenant. I seem to be invading people in NG+ and higher, who have 70 or more soul levels then me. Does this mean I can glitch max level and invade whoever I want? I thought it +-10%

I think combat is -10% to +∞%, or maybe -0% to +∞%. That's what it was for me in Darkwraith and Forest Hunters, at least. Not sure about red soapstone, dragon dudes, or sin-killers.

Not exactly, the guy is always there, but the armor he has varies based on what bosses you've defeated. He'll also relocate eventually.

DEX builds are not too good as far as i can tell. I'm nearing the end of NG+ now and my attack power has plateaued around 450-500; that's the highest the elemental weapons get and that's where scaling drops off dramatically. STR weapons go way higher, INT has crystal spells, but DEX just stalls here. bummer

Save up some souls and buy a Purging Stone from Oswald of Carim (The creepy guy inside the belltower just after the Gargoyles.)

Alternatively,

The OP posted:

You need to be able to get back to the undead asylum, which requires the elevator in the back of the firelink shrine to be active.

To do so, you must have access to the elevator that goes down to Fire Shrine from the Church, from the bottom, when the elevator starts moving up, you must move forward and drop on top of the area where you exit/enter the elevator at the bottom, follow the path to the right, on top of a little green patch, look down, and you will see a broken column, do a roll towards that broken column and land on it, and go across the beam, from there climb up the stairs all the way to the top, where you will find the craw's nest, when you step in, you will get a prompt to "Curl Into a Ball", if you crawl into a ball, about 30 seconds or so, the craw will pick you up, and bring you back to the Undead Asylum.

Then trade one red invasion stone shard with the crow for two purging stones. This is NOT the nest you're dropped off on - it's on a precipice nearby. You'll hear a message when you find it. Remember to drop the red invasion stone shard IN THE NEST and then reload/commit suicide in order to get the traded purging stones to spawn in the nest.

Main advantages of dex builds are bleed and weapon buffs. Bleed is great in PvE, but not that many enemies are vulnerable to it. Pretty good in PvP too as the bleed effect will build up even if they block. Dex weapons, or rather fast weapons in general are good for buffing. With the Oolacile catalyst great magic weapon adds ~200 magic damage. It adds that much whether you put it on a greatsword or a dagger so quick weapons will get the most benefit.

Priscilla's Scythe is pretty underwhelming, both in PvE and PvP in my experience. I use it because it looks awesome, though. So does the Bloodshield.

The iaito is pretty good; fast attacks and a solid bleed.

The bandit knife just has too low damage to be truly effective because you're pretty much entirely reliant on bleed. I've never tried buffs, though.

I failed to get Priscilla's tail
