It doesn't matter how long I live, I will never have a hat as dashing as this.

So, report from the front, I have the XBox 360 version...

I'm not sure I remember Demons Souls being this... Well, Unfair, I've had a lot of deaths that happen because I try to roll out of the way, and for some reason my guy attacks instead, or walks into the path of the oncoming attack. The Taurus Demon was basically impossible to melee because his upward attack came faster then I could dodge, and he has enough tracking with it to catch you even in a last-minute dodge inside his attack range. I couldn't kill him until I stocked up on Firebombs and just cheesed through him with those.

And now I'm at the god drat Dragon Bridge, and I'm basically stuck, as far as I can tell, there's no way across the bridge until the midway point, and I always take at least one hit on the way up, which knocks me down and almost kills me--often does, as he just attacks again by the time I get back up on my feet.

I do appreciate the increased challenge, and I suppose I had it coming by starting as a Deprived, but Jesus Christ

You need to:
Roll faster, or stop rolling, it only works for light characters on him.
You could always do it the right way, and jump attack him. They practically give that one to you. Hell, there's even a ladder.
Just run, if you block you'll take the second hit and get insta-killed at anywhere near starting stats.

Edit:

I "preordered" on Sunday afternoon, was stuck in "shipping soon" all day yesterday, got a shipping notice at 9pm. According to UPS it left Kentucky at 2am, arrived in Oakland, CA at 6am, and is now out for delivery. It'll probably be at my desk when I arrive at work.

I'll never doubt you again, Amazon! Now release the guide too.

I don't think there was any pre-order credit unless you traded in a game with the DkS pre-order.

I canceled my amazon order, if it hasn't shipped yet, it won't be arriving today despite what the delivery estimate says. I guess I'll buy it. At a store. Probably like best buy cuz gamestop probably won't have any for people who didn't preorder from them and also gently caress gamestop.

One thing I found is that I'm much more varied in my approach than I was in Demon's Souls where I quickly settled on rolling all day, every day. In Dark Souls there are enemies and areas where I much prefer to get my armor/poise up and trade blows. I'm paying way more attention to timing my blocks more precisely to keep my stamina usage low and recharge high.

Bonfires act as checkpoints, the last bonfire you used is the one it takes you back to when you die.

I order online simply for the fact that when I get home from work it's already sitting there waiting for me. Driving to a brick and mortar store would cost me extra gas money.

Edit: I work up in the mountains in a trucking terminal, the only towns I pass through are blink and you missed it style towns, no stores that sell games in them.

Hurray, had no idea the collector's edition was the same price as the regular box. Picked up the local Best Buy's last copy, thirty minutes after they opened

Now to stumble through another few hours of work before going home to get my rear end stomped into the ground all night. (I didn't play Demon's Souls, so I only have a vague idea of what I'm in for, but I'm sure it's going to be glorious, glorious death.)
