What is it with RPGs and their counterparts?

I can't pick a character for the life of me. You'd think Knight vs Cleric would be of such little consiquence, but not for this man! It's like or death!

I knew I wasn't crazy about the whole Amazon preorders. My intention is not to get all "I told you so", but it did seem like every release had multiple people complaining about not getting their copies within the first week.

I'm just glad I was able to cancel my copy and find a new one locally while driving around.

I know people said it's cheap, but holy poo poo dive bombing the Taurus Demon with a battle axe is perhaps the most satisfying moment ever. I wish I could use the same technique on the Tower Knight or Adjudicator in Demon's Souls now...

I don't think it's cheap at all. I've spent almost three hours giving this ago thinking, "Hey, what's the longest, most pointy thing I could stick down this jerk's face?" I went with all my long thrusting weapons, a spear, now all I had left was a battle axe. I did more damage than anything, but I'm still stuck in front of those steps while he bashes me to death.

I know people are saying not to roll a thief as their first character, but that's what I went with for Demon's Souls, and I really, really miss dodging around and getting insta kills from behind.

I'm rerolling my knight to do this ASAP.

I'm having a bit of a problem. Well, I guess it's typical for this game.

I started off in Londo. Left a lot of souls on the table, but that never bothers me too much, especially when you're under level 20 anyway.

I finally kill Taurus ManBearPig thinking this level was about to be finished. How wrong I was. Now having a lot of trouble with this next section.

This wouldn't be just a case of leaving around 10k in souls in the toilet, but when I sat my controller in my lap I accidently attacked the shop keeper and now all my stuff is falling apart.

Suggestions? Start over?

Perfect advice, thanks! I don't want to roll a thief since that's what I used in the first game (and loved!), but something a little faster than the knight.

And some arrows would be a lifesaver right now. I WILL SHOOT THAT DRAGON'S TAIL NOW, DAMNIT!

Well here I sit with my level 18 Knight completely unsure which direction to take him.

My stats so far:
code:
Vitality 14
Attunement 10
Endurance 14
Strength 15
Dexteriy 14
Resistance 11
Intelligence 9
Faith 12
In Demon's Souls I played a Thief that rolled around guys and one shotted them in the back. I decided to go the other route but am finding that I'm missing it. I also put a point in faith so I could get a basic heal later and maybe build up a faith based weapon user. Oh, and the point in Res was because gently caress RATS. I've been stuck near that underground dragon bridge for far too long and have way too many poison headaches already.

Rolling with this guy has been very painful this early, so I doubt I'll do any dodging unless I really must, so do you think a STR, ENDURO, VITAL with the odd faith and dex thrown in is a terrible idea for this guy?

It's not just me, but this sequel is quite a bit harder. I spent all morning getting the whole "Burb" area situation all the way to the Church - even got the the prisoner. Then proceed to give it a go at the boss and was insta-raped It's not the death (it wasn't even that many lost souls, around 1500. It's the fact that I have to run all the way from the blacksmith area, hope that knight on the stairs doesn't surprise sex me considering i've been pretty spotty with those guys then hope I can make those latters.

I remember leaving around 30k in lost souls multiple times the first time around, but things seem to just hurt more a personal level.

Maybe I'm just old.

Let me ask for your opinions. I'm about to hit level 21 and am not sure if I should just go pumping more stats into my knight (I block too much, so probably stamina).

But that first level heal is looking kind of juicy. Is that pretty much having 5 extra bonefire drinks or whatever?

It's a different game once you know what you're doing, that's the issue I think. A lot of us came in after finishing Demon's Souls multiple times and it felt like we were home again.

I'm getting this vibe completely. The non-linear setup, which I love FWIW, is making me pretty lose and confused. I'm really not sure what areas people are talking about, nor am I sure where I should be going. I am happy that I've kept away from reading too much, but right now? I think I need to grind - something I didn't want to do.

Ok, I've come to terms with the fact that I am grinding.

Basically there are 2 bosses I can get to any time I want, but I am always getting my rear end handed to me in a way that I'm happy when they're down to half health.

Because of this I've started going out of my way to take as few souls in as possible.

My build is Faith Knight since it seemed unique at the time.

I pumped my VIT, STR, DEX, to 15 and END to 16.

My faith is stuck at 12 because I didn't think I would be using it for quite a while. Now I'm kicking myself for not looking for a faith based weapon to start to build around.

drat this game. I'm finding it harder than the first by a lot, and yes, I still love it for it!

Gotta say. this game really pushes "tough but fair" rep of Demon's Souls into the total bullshit category more than I'd like. Demon's Souls was never tedious. This game however might be one of the most tedious games I have ever played.

I love it, and it's almost every way it's superior to Demon's. But I think I had more fun playing demons and that's the real kicker.

I agree with your points here. They improved the game but I'm finding parts of it so drat frustating that the "tough but fair" can be called into question. I remember boss fights you could cheese if you really couldn't hack it, but here they just took it the other way. Another complaint, if you'd call it that, is that I find it easier to get to those boss areas compared to the first. Seems like they didn't balance that.

Oh well, I'll get there (somehow)

It's like a wall went down for me in this game today. I had pretty much no chance against any boss, but I was doing ok getting to the places I wanted.

Then I learn of the Drake Sword?

Kind of kicking myself for trying to go it alone so much in this game. I had been stuck on the belltower for two days, never got the first garg to half level. Put on the Drake, my Knight Gear and good protection shield and I had them both dead in about 30 seconds.

Already starting to pump my faith up because I like the fluff and spells, plus I can't wait to see what kind of beastie weapon I can upgrade - which still eludes me a little: do you have to get each weapon you want to take in a certain directio, faith in my case, to +5 basic first?
