Hmm, so Reyes gets pulled after a bunt single, putting his AVG up high enough that it's out of reach for Braun.

But, that makes it also out of reach for Kemp, and Fielder could even end up passing him for the HR lead today, so no triple crown.

I think if Kemp wins the triple crown you'd basically have to give him MVP, but without it I feel like the writers will have a much easier time giving Braun the MVP.

I'll say this, if Braun goes 3-3, or 3-4 and gets pulled when he's got another at bat coming, then he gets pulled. No big whoop.

Yankees starting Dellin Betances tonight. His MLB debut was last thursday against the Rays, pitched .2 innings in relief and gave up 2 earned runs for an era of 27. They're starting him.

ESPN posted:

Joe Girardi had said he would respect the integrity of the playoff process and send his regular lineup out against Rays ace David Price.

Well, Betances is a starting pitching prospect so it's not that surprising, and I suppose there were worse choices.

I think most Yankee fans wished that they had rested him and started someone who doesn't hopefully have a bright future.

Juan Pierre hitting into the final out for the loss seems to sum up this terrible season pretty well, I think.

So what does the AL playoff picture look like?

Winner between Tampa and Boston gets AL Wild Card. Both win or lose, there is a tie break game?

NYY gets DET, unless they lose and TEX win? Then New York gets Texas and Detroit gets home-field on the Wild Card winner?

The Philadelphia Eagles are merely a series of booms and busts; the long run trend of the franchise is positive.

But the long run is a misleading guide to professional football. In the long run we are all dead.
