I need to find out where the GoonSpec thread is. Is that here? I'm organizing season 3, and need to let everyone know what the schedule will look like.

GentlemanofLeisure posted:Yeah, the Goonspec stuff that Jabs has been running has just been posted in this thread. If you post it, people will see it. Cool, thanks. I sent him a PM on the autocross forum we're on, so hopefully so. Tentative schedule is: 2xBTCC (Krautastic's formula) 1xSpecPinto 2xVintage sports cars (free on TheCowboyJoe's storefront. These were optimized for equal laptimes in testing.. all within .5 sec on Iberian) 1xGoonMons (target lap time format, project cars) 2xTransAm (Krautastic's formula, on his storefront for free, same deal as vintage) 1x??? (could be USTCC, could be modern GT, could be...?) 1xSpecPinto, finale (because the post-finale race was awesome. Kraut made a tune that's a blast to drive) Vintage are a collection of almost all small displacement sports cars made between 1965 and 1982. The two exceptions are the '79 Camaro and Mustang II, because they're wholly unloved and I thought they would make for fun racing against tiny GTA's and Escorts and such. PI ranges from around 480 for the lowest (Elan) to ~535 for the highest (R5 T2). Krautastic and I were consistently finishing w/in half a second of each other after three laps no matter the pairing of cars. Trans Am is similar to American Iron from season 1, but there are fewer available cars and again, extensive testing was done to equalize laptimes and speed. What makes this series fun is that all cars run with low pressure drag slicks which, IMO, do an excellent job at simulating '70s era biased-ply race tires. As for ???, Who knows? I'll defer to Jabs here. I avoided USTCC because the VW R32 was 1-2seconds per lap faster than any other car in this format. If we're racing tomorrow night, it will be BTCC, and apparently it's on Sedona club or full reverse. I'd like club, as it's a bit more touring car-y Sedona Raceway Park

Thanks Jabs! Everyone else- you're in for it now!! muahahaha I've posted a tentative schedule up on his site for now. I guess I'll add a third race to each category now, so it'll look a bit different. For now, the Trans-Am cars are not available, as Krautastic is finalizing the roster. Same with SpecPinto. That was so much darn fun.

We have guys from a couple different clubs who race with us and I don't think we've ever fielded a 16-car grid. One of them is me, and our season finale last season was full... Till the xbox servers poo'd all over our hopes and dreams.

Schedule is updated and available here: http://www.jonathonbarton.net/index.php/goonspec/goonspec-series-schedule/ Open to taking votes on TBA races. Also throwing around the concept of "reward weight" for each mini-series. First Place will net you a 10% power handicap in the next race, 2nd and 3rd get 5% up to a maximum 15% Finishing lower than 5th will remove 5% of rewards weight. LAST SEASON'S WINNING BTCC CAR HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM ELIGIBILITY No, it's not because I'm mad I lost- I had one of those too. It was just too much faster than everything else. The new Clio is also ineligible, as is the VW from the last pack. silverbullitt850 fucked around with this message at 19:15 on Mar 7, 2012 |

I really don't understand why people are having a hard time with the ZR1. I drive with braking line as my only assist, normal steering and manual w/clutch and the button swap (clutch is A). The car wants to understeer a ton, so you just have to be patient and easy on the gas.

I'd love to do it again, but after lapping all but 3rd (2nd?) place on Suzuka last time out, people weren't too thrilled.

My engine and trans got knackered bad enough that I had to limp back to the pit immediately anyway. Yeah man, it's fine. I just got really angry because I thought it was on purpose- had NO clue who did it. Had I seen that it was you I would've figured it wasn't on purpose. All worked out in the end (sorry boaz)

Who's ready for some Spec Pinto?! This car is super fun to drive, but very tricky to drive right. Tons of grip, but sloppy suspension and open diff means slow and steady through the corners is the fast line. Just like a beach in alabama body rolls is the norm here. Everything listed is must haves, with aero and wheels being free choice within the rules listed Firstly: Swap in the ford focus I4 motor Engine and Power: Race Exhaust, Race Cams, Race Flywheel Platform and Handling: Race Roll Cage, Race Weight reduction Drivetrain: nothing Tires and Rims: Race tire compound, 225/50R14 front and rear, wheels- stock size, allowed to choose from any of the following: american racing (all), cragar (smoothie, street lock D window, S/S super sport), compomotive (ML), halibrand (all), mickey thompson (classic lock) Aero and Appearance: All stock and Ford upgrade parts allowed.
