Anyone who doesn't think Forza 4 is a big improvement probably plays with assists and can't tell the difference. I had to stop watching that giant bomb review because he was saying that it was pretty much the same game but looks better. Then he went to his difficulty settings and he had assisted steering and braking. Like I'm going to trust the opinion of a guy who plays racing games on easy mode.

I have one ordered through best buy, but I stupidly got regular shipping because I was going to get another one through something else, so now It's all sold out. The best buy one says "sometime before Oct. 17th" So I overnighted one from Fry's. If I don't see a confirmation soon, I'll just murder someone. I'll still check stores around on Tuesday I guess. I'll laugh if I have three copies of the LCE.

Also, we can't race against F1 drivers, there's no Liana in the game. Edit: My order appears to be going through. Frys just called me because they were confused by my address. Ringo Star Get posted:If you go to "Track Your Order" at the top and punch in your info, it'll show your status. I"m going to call them and see what the dilly-o is. If they'll get it in stock within a few days I can sweat it out, but if its something where it'll take a month, then I'll get it through one of the goons. I just hate when places will have stuff you can order on their site and when you click pay, it changes to "Oh hey its not really in stock, thanks for your dollars!" Yeah, mine definitely says "In Processing." I was worried when the lady called me, I thought she was saying it was canceled, but it was just my address because the order form is a dick and wouldn't let me put Lackland AFB and demanded I put San Antonio.

Your order definitely says backordered though? They say if an order is in by 8EST (an hour and a half from now) it ships same day. So I'll see if they ship it.

Welp, now my order says backorder. Here's hoping I can find one on release day. Maybe people will stay away from the BX.

TannhauserGate posted:This irks me a bit. There are many cars at all levels from family sedans to racers that have on-board systems as part of the experience. Some of these cars are not meant to be driven except with specific aids per factory. ABS is another biggie, it's just not available for some cars, while it's not un-available on others. It would be nice if they would at least include a "factory" option that limits your assists to standard choices. This is what I've been wanting for months now. A "factory" option. Each car would have things that are available to it. So if you drive with all assists off, the car will turn off whatever assists you would be able to turn off in the real car (or not have them if the car doesn't have them). That way if you are driving a car that is obviously automatic, it would be automatic, and could never be manual. If you can't turn off the ABS in a car, it can't be turned off in game. Though, I suppose if you buy race parts, you'd be able to change what the car can do. Race transmission would be manual, race brakes could turn off ABS and traction control and all that. But if you are driving in a stock, standard car, you shouldn't be able to get an advantage over someone else by doing something that the car can't do. Sure it wouldn't be perfect, because not every assist and transmission is modeled exactly as it is in the real car, but we have that problem now anyway. It's just annoying that I got into a jaguar that said "P R N D 2 1" on the gauge cluster and I could drive it with a manual with a clutch. Or maybe just a per car setting or per class setting. I like to drive without traction control in almost all classes, but I like it in R1 because those cars have so much power, they need TCS anyway.

After all the hubbub about there being no more LCEs left anywhere, I checked at the BX after getting my flu shot, only regular editions. I checked walmart after work, nothing. Check out best Buy, two copies of the LCE there, so I snatch one up and am installing now. The one in the mail is probably just going in the closet.

Got my fanatec today, and it is ~AwEsOmE~. I can't drive anything above e class so far (losing control in a fiesta) but it's so amazing to drive this way. The control I have over the car, the shifting, the everything is so awesome. I'll still be controllering for racing online and the world tour for now, but I'm working on using the wheel. Ugh, why didn't they fix the painting? you still can't paint over the secondary color of a car once you've picked a color scheme. No matter what you pick, you're stuck with the original secondary color unless you put a vinyl over it.

I think sometimes it picks an event, but for a different track and puts it at the track you're at. In that case, it doesn't count as completing the event.

WienerDog posted:2) How can you avoid drafting then? If a car is ~one second faster then yours, what's a guy to do? if I slow, the gap will increase so I won't get penalized, but his car is faster then mine. If I let up he's gunna dust me, and if I could be faster then him, well, there wouldn't be this issue. You don't avoid drafting, you shouldn't be if you're racing. Drafting is what helps you pass. If you want to set clean laps for the leaderboards, go to hotlaps or rivals. If you want to race, race. Drafting makes you faster because the car in front eats all the air, and the car in back is able to go faster than normal. If this didn't dirty your lap, people could load up multiplayer and just draft each other down straights and set faster times than possible.

Idiot race posted:Most of them are tuned (badly) to the top of their respective class. Depends on if the car is crap to begin with. Cars like the 190E and Lancia Stradale are already really good, so when they are auto upgraded, they became amazing. I just swapped some parts around and I'm setting top 5% times with them.

You don't have to tune anything. Just get sports parts that don't require tuning. Drive the car stock around whatever track you want to test on. Does the car feel too slow? Add more power. Is the car sliding all over the place? Suspension and tires (don't forget about roll bars). Multiple parts can affect one aspect of the car (suspension, tires, roll bars, camber and others all affect how well you can corner). So learn how to tune one part, and use that. Start learning how to tune other parts. I've been playing Forza since 3 came out and I'm just now figuring out how to do things. I've got camber and roll bars down, I'm figuring out caster. I still have no idea what to do for suspension. I gave up on transmission gearing, the only point of that is setting up a car for one track, and I don't bother with multiple tunes. Just keep messing with things and see what works.

You can just press start at the upgrade screen and reset the car to stock. No need to search for parts. And tires might not always be the best thing to do. If the car has no power in the first place, you might want to look into increasing that if it already turns well. Just drive a car stock and see what it does and what you want it to do. No one is going to tune every car the same, and you shouldn't. Tune it to how you like to drive. If you like to always be gripping the road, up the tires and be careful with power. If you like to slide through corners, forget about tires and just add more POOOOOOWEEEER.

Keep in mind that for some stupid reason there is no rewind in test drive mode. Maybe it's because it doesn't record a ghost, who knows. It's just really frustrating to be testing my car, mess up a corner, damage everything and then have to restart with cold tires Re: The bowling, it isn't that hard. You can't get all the pins, but you can get a big chunk of them. Slam into them sideways from one big part into another big part. It seems like they are arranged in a way that you can just slide into a big chunk of them. That's how I do it at least. Trying to knock them down and getting the pins to knock down other pins doens't seem to work, as they are so far apart. I just go fast and slam into them, and I always end up with more points than I need. Cojawfee fucked around with this message at Oct 17, 2011 around 03:05 |

Once you've gotten your best time, you can't race anyone slower and make any money. And you aren't so much challenging anyone, as doing hotlaps while following (or being followed by) someone's ghost.
