New horror movie recommendation

Pontypool

This is indie horror done really really well, and it uses a plot device completely unlike any I've seen used in any horror movie before, that I can best describe as "linguistic horror".

Anyway, the less you know going in, the better, since slowly trying to figure out what's going on along with the characters is a lot of the fun. Basically it's about a radio host just starting the job at a small rural town's station after being fired from a bigger city station, and they start getting some...weird calls.

Starts pretty slow. Plot doesn't really kick in until about 20 minutes in, and the first real creepy part isn't until about a half hour, but it's worth the wait.

I was JUST coming to this thread to recommend this movie - I saw it got added last night. It's a great slow-burn horror film that NOBODY saw. I'm glad it's up on streaming, since it wasn't even available from Netflix as a DVD/Bluray last time I checked.

Yeah, there's a lot of folks (like her and the evil preacher guy) that you see in the group panels and poo poo but who aren't ever interviewed. I guess they weren't crazy/interesting enough.

Man, you made me think REC and REC 2 were on Netflix . I've been wanting to watch the second one.

I started watching Triangle last night, but went to bed after an hour, thinking, "well, I'll finish it tomorrow."

It's tomorrow now, and it's been pulled off watch instant. A lesson: Always finish your drat movies.

This happened to me with Inland Empire

My wife and I watched the first three episodes of Lilyhammer last night. It's pretty good, although it is basically just Silvio Dante's Adventures in Norway (which isn't all in all such a bad thing). It also feels like a show made by Norwegians that happens to star an American lead, rather than a US show with WACKY Europeans, which I appreciate.

Goddamnit I just went out and bought the first two seasons of The West Wing specifically because Netflix/Amazon didn't have it.

Are you guys sure about The Imposter being available? I can't check my account at work, but neither Moreflicks or Instantwatcher have it listed.

I just added it to my instant queue.

I remember reading in the old Shield thread a long time ago that there's some issue with the old seasons being shot in 4:3 or something like that that makes it really hard to do an HD/Blu-Ray version of the show. So you shouldn't let the fact that it's not HD stop you, since there probably will never be a blu-ray of The Shield.
