I'll have to change my vote to Joanna, I love the idea of Urist, but I'm just a little worried that she might just be a little too one note. I don't have a problem with reference characters though(Brian Blessed is one of my favorite characters in this thread).

E, Joanna

To be fair, though, even the reference characters are just fairly normal characters that have a better known name tacked on and possibly carrying their namesake's gimmick with them. (Also I have no idea who Robert Strapp/Bob Sapp is, though I think Dolash just took the name and traits and ran away with them rather than trying to play along with the gimmick, which works for me.)

Sankis, though, doesn't really seem to have much going for her but the dwarfname and dwarfbackground.

Definitely, for me I'm trying to cook up a character for if we eventually get a monk to grace our fine city. I won't lie, she'll probably be a reference character, but I want to try and write her so that she will have the potential for growth in this narrative if she is chosen.

Still, I love all our characters, Dolash has done an amazing job with the writing, so I'm always excited to see how they will appear in the game.

Eh, so far Strapp has been boring as hell. I'm not sure if that's because he hasn't really been the focus of a mission yet or if his personality just didn't coalesce correctly for some reason yet but pretty much everyone else made a pretty distinct impression right away. Robert isn't even the focus of his introduction and he's mostly been stuck in the straight man role so far which would be fine except we just had Mortimer introduced who is both a straight man but also has the capacity to clash with his sister and because of his sister which lets him escape the role when need be.

Its why I'm against voting for Joana too, she doesn't seem to have an interesting personality quirk that plays well off of anyone else and the cast really does not need a third straight man in a row introduced when most of the best interaction in the LP has been the friction and interaction between personality quirks of the cast. We need more insanity, not less, after the stabilizing influence of Mortimer and Robert.

Yeah, but she's otherwise a very straight, serious character- at least Bob's very well-meaning, and Mortimer's got a mischeivous side. Joanna's great for a Game of Thrones run, but not for Ahab. Urist is crazy and cursed, and Bertha's amusingly German (also, she's got the build and hopefully the costume of a Wagnerian opera singer, so there's that too).

P/S: Vote Bertha.

Unless they're a major fighting hero (King, Knight, Spy... I think that's it?) Bloodthirsty are limited to a fistfight.

In gameplay mechanics yes, but in terms of story possibilities? Anything is possible. As you yourself should know, Dolash has spun quite a few bits of story out a few details and traits. Also I seem to recall Dolash stating something along these lines

Dolash posted:

I'm glad to hear you've enjoyed the story so far! And the trick to being a straight man is to never be the straightest man - there always has to be someone more stiff and rigid than you in the cast to pass the punchline buck on to. That in mind, Mortimer just needs a humourless pedant best-friend and he'll be set!

Who said the traits couldn't overlap? Characters can have them whatever you want to give them as long as it's 2 traits and 1 flaw.

No, they actually can't. Some traits mean that you cannot choose other traits. I don't know about "overlap", but traits cannot conflict. For example, you cannot be Adventurous and Cowardly.

I think Brainamp meant trait overlapping with other characters. And while technically they can, the non-overlap is to provide some variety to the cast.

D) The chaos of the war has driven a wizard from his home, leading to him terrorizing the people of Ahab in search of a new kingdom (to steal). Sister Superior, however, is convinced she can save the unfortunate sorcerer's soul, and Morticia is going to help her. 1

Jeabus Mahogany

E) A famed blacksmith had been drawn to Ahab to help out during this time of war, but mere blacksmithery may not be enough to see the kingdom through. This would be a pretty strange dress if I wasn’t.

We’re just giving you an official greeting. On behalf of the kingdom, you see –

Yes, yes, I understand. And now you’ve greeted me. So if you’ll excuse me, I have a lot of unpacking to do.

My, she is a busy little bee! I am impressed by your determination, my lady. Ahab will need that sort of spirit in these troubled times.

Yes. The war. Wars require weapons, armour, supplies, lots of work for everyone. That’s why I took the job. You need an expert, and you’ll keep me supplied.

Well, I’d hoped for a little more camaraderie, but...

We can work out the details later. The contract pays well, that’s for sure, Miss...?

Well, at least DF doesn't have bearded dwarven women anymore, so it doesn't really matter.

My question is, how dedicated to/knowledgeable about the disguise will Joanna be? And to what lengths will she go to hide it? I can't wait to find out in the story.

Although, I did just think of something to ask: Does the game have a hard coded hero limit? And if it does, is it higher than the amount of heroes you can get? Mostly, I'm just curious as to some of the behind the scenes things.

A few more behind the scenes details for you then. Technically you're limited to one hero per building and one building of each type, so one knight, one king, one wizard, etc, but with the help of cheats you can add hero levels to any NPC and make them a controllable character, meaning there's no hard limit to the number of heroes. As for controlling at a time, four is the limit (unless there's some clever way around that I don't know of, although you can swap control quickly between which four you want, so staging scenes with more characters isn't impossible.
