I couldn't see any clothes design type threads! I know I'm not the only one who enjoys designing t-shirts, and there are plenty of websites you can submit your work too in the hopes of getting published! So post what you're working on, or where you've uploaded to! Let me know if I've missed any websites from the list, I don't know many. T-shirt submission websites Design By Humans Qwertee (UK based) Teefury shirt.woot! SplitReason (Geek/gamer) Threadless This is what I'm working on. I think it's finished, but I don't know if the halftone dots are too small, or if the logo needs to be bigger. ![]() It's on Qwertee and Split Reason. Now on Threadless as well! NEED VOTES!! well there are the popular ones: http://www.threadless.com/ (pun/clever t-shirts work well here) http://shirt.woot.com/ (same as above) http://www.designbyhumans.com/ (this is more for arty designs) I've entered a South African design competition this week, the theme is "what's under the school desk?" My design is "Bata Toughees", a throwback to the oldschool mandatory South African school shoes. I'd really appreciate it if you could quickly go and click me a five (no registration needed) ![]() http://www.makhulupolane.com/gallery/ KinkyJohn fucked around with this message at Oct 11, 2011 around 17:49 |

Voted ^^ What does skop dood of skop op mean?
|
| # ? Oct 12, 2011 22:43 |
|
literally translated it's "kick em dead or kick up". "Skop dood" is an Afrikaans expression similar to something like "give em hell". "skop op" is an Afrikaans term for dropping out of school.

I've been doing designs for a little while now. My portfolio is up on http://www.redbubble.com/people/jacobusspades. ![]() At the moment I have a shirt on this week's Shirt.Woot derby. If you like it I'd appreciate the votes. I have an interesting design process which is probably way more complicated than it needs to be. ![]() I start by drawing in MS Paint. That's not Win 7 MS Paint, I actually had someone send me the XP version. Since it only cues 3 undo's, I save drafts often. I have multiple shirts with more than 40 individual bitmap drafts. ![]() Afterward I plug the highly aliased bitmap into Inkscape, trace it by individual color, then tweak the points until it comes out the way I want. Overall it's really time consuming but I don't really know a better way. I'd really just like to use Flash or something, but I don't fancy paying hundreds of dollars for it. Especially not this CS5 crappy crap.

I've been toying with my own shirt site and possible "Goon Tee" idea where it's basically Threadless for Goons and friends only. I have no programming skills so everything is currently in WordPress. At the moment the current voting system is a bit ghetto, but once I get some money together I can purchase a better one: http://fragink.com/goontees/ Thoughts? I've also been working with these ideas and trying to sell them on my own site, but haven't submitted them anywhere. I suppose I should submit to some of the daily tee sites for a little recognition (Should I?). ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I am not really partial to the tee's that have slogans, so I tend to avoid those. I sorta prefer the ones that are more on the "graphic" side.. Mr.HardMuscle fucked around with this message at Feb 4, 2012 around 08:11 |

Wow, you guys are good! I have a lot to learn.. I just made a t-shirt for the first time last night and put it up for sale through printfection.com, I haven't sold anything yet, probably because I don't know what I'm doing. The design is below. I was going to post a link to my store on SAMart, but after not seeing anything similar, I decided against it.

That's a great design! I am sorry scoring ended. I missed it. I am gonna throw out a suggestion. Could you make the tape be some sort of cursive typography? Threadless seem to eat up typography. At the risk of sounding stupid I'll even suggest a line "It ate my tapeography" Yay puns. Whatever you do: don't quit on that design, make a 2.0, try again, and let us know.

![]() Still very much a work in progress, hoping to have it done by monday. Wanted to do a contemporary danse macabre of sorts. I'm working on definition, so if it's hard to make out what those things in the background are supposed to be: that's Mario (sans the cap, coming up), Sonic and Samus - to be joined by maybe Link and then a hazy bunch of anonymous characters further back. Still experimenting with colors (settled on using three, it's nice working with limitations), kinda liking the current warm theme. Perspective is a bit flat, but I think I can change that in post. The recliner is not a video game character, just some placeholder stuff. Not sure what I want to about enforcing the living-room environment. Maybe it's not necessary. Keep the thread alive! It's so nice seeing what everybody's working on.

Mario is generally a "short and stout" character. He should probably not be quite so elongated. Another thing that comes to mind: You might make Samus's skull a bit smaller inside the helmet. It would help suggest femininity, and her head doesn't really fill the helmet that much anyway. Nice concept, can't wait to see the final.

Oh, well... That's Luigi then. Nah. Good catch! Mario does look way too elongated. I'll put him in the vice and work it a bit. Samus' skull actually was a size smaller in an earlier version. I'll switch back and see how that works. I'm thinking I should remove some of the emphasis on the skull in general to bring out the helmet. Cheers.

I like the concept but I think the execution needs work. The realistic TARDIS illustration doesn't fit well with the tattoo motif, and the background (clouds etc.) looks too flat and lacking in proper shading. Do a google image search on "sailor jerry flash", look at the shading on like the sailing ships, knives, etc. Also while you're at it do a search for "japanese tattoo sleeves" and look at the backgrounds of some of those pieces, see if you can work some of that dramatic style into the storm clouds on your design. And a minor thing, the "Homeward Bound" text is a little crowded/misaligned inside the ribbon, like how the left bar of the H isn't the same angle as the left edge of the ribbon. I don't mean any of this to shoot you down, I do think it's a cool idea, but I think it'd be a much more appealing/striking design if it had a more consistent and better informed classic tattoo vibe.

No i'm glad the first thing you said was the Tardis! It's been driving me BONKERS. I can not get it 'flash' enough without looking like a cartoony mess. I think I'm going to have to redraw it with thicker borders and throw in some woodgrain dashes, The only thing really that gives it the "flash" style is the black heavy shading, but those gradients take away from the 8 color limit. squarerandom fucked around with this message at May 26, 2012 around 23:38 |

I'm graduating for my BA in graphic design in two weeks (or so I guess) and one of the parts of my exposition (which combines 6 different parts) is a series of silkscreened t-shirts, each inspired by less-than-well-known obsessions. (my project is about me being obsessed by people obsessed with everyday stuff, such as street-lantern collectors, elevator enthusiasts, the list goes on). My idea for this part was: If people wear t-shirts they have no connections with (here in the Netherlands we have people wearing UCLA shirts for instance, and they never went even to the States, so they only wear it for the looks) Why not make encrypted typographical t-shirts which people would wear for the looks, but would be readable by those obsessed guys (since the abbreviations for their 'hobby' can be quite cryptic). Anyway without further ado: For our street lantern fanatics: The Philips SRS201 91watt light! ![]() Good luck reading this, but I needed some visual contrast in the series. Behold the ThyssenKrupp traction elevator! ![]() Got to love trains! (the words are shorthand for Dutch train types) ![]() You even have recycle machine freaks, so this is for them, for the machine that also digests the plastic! ![]() I have a small series for now, but hopefully someone will pop up and release me from the production-costs-pain.
