In the jetwhine discussion, I feel like jets now are the worst I've seen. It used to be that they were the most reliable helicopter counter, and even if they did the circledance in the sky with other planes they'd be helpful to your team if they popped the chopper.

Now choppers feel more vulnerable than ever to non-jet damage. Every now and again you run into a truly badass chopper crew, but on most maps two guys with stingers will wreck them toot sweet.

If the lock-on range for MANPADs on jets were increased greatly, I think it would do great things for balance. Right now they burn by so fast you can hardly get a tone.

I feel the best way they could implement jets in BF4 would be to make them very sparsely available, by capping a point for example. (like they did with the gunship) Limit them to a single pass every now and then, but give them a huge firepower, something that makes your team go :

No wanking in the air while the rest of the team struggles with control points, actual (if short) impact on the battlefield, and hopefully not a source of frustration. Basically make them a player controlled airstrike, maybe tied to the commander's abilities.

Detouring from jetstalk for a second, is the game freezing on the black loading screen in between rounds in line with the recent DDOS stuff or is that on my end? I don't really get errors so much as the game will just stall on this screen between rounds or when joining a new game.

The chief problem with the game is missile speed. None of the player-fired rockets move anywhere close to the speed of their real-life counterparts. RPG-7 rockets are supposed to move at something ridiculous like 120 meters per second compared to the like, what, 40m/s in game? Sure, it might be for balancing reasons, but it makes them all less useful than they could be.

The reason why MANPADs are so loving worthless is because their ordinance is supposed to be going much faster. Stinger missiles can reach 750m/s while in the air. IGLAs pull in somewhere between 400 and 650. If we had those loving things, Jetlords wouldn't be an issue anymore, we could potentially counter them.
I'm pretty sure RPG/SMAW rounds get well above 600m/s. I'd be fine with them doing the same speed in-game if tank shells also did 1000m/s and armor combat was literally instagib.

I haven't experienced that particular bug in years. Probably since a few months after launch. Anecdotal, I know, but I thought that had been fixed a long time ago.

Speaking of bugs that still haven't been fixed, it'd be great if they fixed the stupid bug where beacons randomly take a few seconds to despawn after spawning on them, and if you equip your new beacon before then, it'll have no ammo.

Pretty darn necessary! You're missing out on like 3/4 of the game if you don't have the expansions, no joke.

What's that? Only found videos of glitch where you can keep grenade or ammo box out.

You don't need elaborate glitchery to do that poo poo anyway, you can equip grenades by hitting 5 on your keyboard and equip boxes without throwing them by using the weapon cycle keys (mouse wheel on PC). This isn't BF2 though, holding ammo boxes and medkits doesn't affect nearby allies, you have to deploy them.

Have many people here completed all the assignments? I finally got the 75th and am made ridiculously happy by this for no rational reason. I found checking those off on Battlelog incredibly satisfying for some reason, had to jump on them when new ones came out immediately.

The chopper one was the worst, took me forever to learn to fly reasonably well and take down tanks without guided missile unlocked. Rambo was also kind of tedious, got three lucky multi kills spamming that vehicle grenade launcher in Aftermath and the last two by parachuting in C4 on 64 player TDM canals.

Throw a grenade. Fire a bullet. Reload. Ammobox will restock your ammo and grenade as long as you can carry extra ammo. The grenade comes far faster than the ammobox dropped by support. This allows 2 guys with quick reloading weapons to basically grenade spam the poo poo out of an area with no let up.

Tried this with a pistol and UMP and it didn't make a difference. The resupply timer for grenades starts when you start the throw animation rather than when the HUD shows it as zero, so the first resupply seems faster, but it comes in at the same time regardless of whether you reload something else or not, and it still takes 5 seconds. Incidentally, it only "works" because the grenade resupplies before the reload finishes, if you step into ammo box range and then reload then the frag will actually take longer to resupply because it'll cancel, give you weapon ammo, and then restart the frag resupply at zero.

Haven't played in the past month but I've done all the weapon ones minus the S-TAC (I started playing again a few months ago and just chain unlocked the rest of the co-op/assignment weapons), because gently caress that I'd rather just use a regular 1911 just because. The weapon ones are reasonable though there is a bit of work required into pulling some of them off, but if I can do it, I'd like to think it's doable for anyone.

The camo ones are really grindy, though I don't mind switching weapons to do them but most of the time I just stick with whatever I feel like using or experimenting with instead. Vehicle ones I don't think I'll ever get around to though, or all the XBOW bolt ones.

He's talking about the Scavenger ammo boxes I'm pretty sure given he said "The grenade comes far faster than the ammobox dropped by support" and he's just bad at giving us context because we're not mind-readers

I've unlocked all the weapons except the Jackhammer and I don't think I'm going to bother with it. I don't play a ton of Karkand anymore, going back just to try and shoot people from a jeep doesn't sound fun, and I only use pump shotguns anyway.

I'm doing the camo ones pretty steadily, ignoring the ones that have unfun stuff tacked on like mortar kills or TUGs assists or whatever. It's an excuse to use guns I normally wouldn't, not that I need much of one.

I'll probably eventually get the chopper ones since I'm an infrequent but not-terrible gunner, but the jet one is just going to have to stay locked.

I actually just did the mortar kill assignment the other day. It was a load off, finally

Having to wait for players to a) sit still enough to be hit by mortars and, b) sit there while a SECOND mortar hits them is hard to do
