Let's drink until our hearts stop.

Anyone have an issue where half the sounds in the game stop playing intermittently? It's like if there are too many sounds playing at once, most noticeably things like my own gun or footstep sounds stop playing for a while.

Best five bucks I've ever spend.

Does anyone have any newbie tips? I haven't played a BF game since 1942 (which I really enjoyed), and it seems to me that the maps feel much smaller in BF3, and 64 player servers are incredibly hectic (not in a good way). Often times I'll get killed as soon as I spawn, and winning an infantry vs. infantry gunfight seems entirely dependent on who sees who first. In 1942, infantry combat almost felt like an afterthought, but in BF3 it's definitely the center of the show.

With that said, I did start to get a pretty good feel for things in a smaller game last night, and had some good fun with it.

She is a cat of significant gravy.

Just had a metro conquest where the US won, we pushed them all the way back to their deployment. Somebody somehow got back to the first Russian flag and I spawned on him and the flag went red. Luckily everybody was to occupied with shooting at the guys at the 2nd flag so I knifed a bunch of people.

Is Rush doable with 64 people? At 75 (no way to raise?) tickets it's been pretty weak. Wonder if the Rush ticket setting is hardcoded...

Welp keep on trucking till I get the last unlock I guess

I played a ton of Rush and I've found that both the A-10 and Su-25 are pretty much surprise sex on wings. Sure, it's impossible to dodge missiles when your flares are down since you have no afterburners but any vehicle is dead meat if you can get the cursor on them. Hell, you can even follow up your guns with a rocket barrage in case you didn't kill anything within your burst.

I don't really feel the EMR for some reason. I do alright but I feel like the Mk11 is better even though they're the exact same gun. Maybe I'm just getting tired. The IAR is amazing though and I'm going to have to grind every Support unlock so I can use it all the time.

Man after playing more and more this mouse control is a joke.

If you move the mouse really slow you can move your view faster than if you snap the mouse in the direction you want to go.

Moving the mouse a little bit across my pad made me do a 180 degree turn, moving it fast and a lot across the pad did a 90 degree turn. So much for "raw" input.

The end result is since I move my mouse (fast?) I end up not looking where I want to look.

Rush is fun, but for most maps it's just a mess. Damavand Peak (or whatever it's called) is particularly bad for the attackers.

Well, you see, people playing with a gamepad don't use the analog stick as an analog stick. If they want to aim a bit to the right, they quickly tap the stick all the way to the right. They don't move the stick by a small amount, even though they want a small result. That's why every console FPS uses negative acceleration to make aiming movements start out small.

BF3 has negative acceleration. BF2:BC had the same thing. Don't count on Dice ever fixing it.

Well I if you are dying almost as soon as you spawn, you should make sure the person you spawn on isn't running across a street, with their back to a hillside, or in the middle of a gunfight. If you are playing 64 player, sometimes you can't avoid spawning in what looks like a safe spot and suddenly three recons start mortaring the point, there are just too many people to account for. I'd recommend running for some semblance of cover right when you spawn though that should cut down on some fast deaths. The who sees who first gunfights do kinda occur but only in medium to close range and usually in non cover-heavy areas so id recommend keeping an eye on possible medium/close quarters enemy spots and treat spots where enemies can see you from far away as a secondary.

Edit: try playing 32/48 man conquest before trying the 64 man games and for rush i'd stick to 24/32 until you get a feel for infantry combat because in larger player caps, fighting off 3+ guys at once isn't uncommon and it's even possible to beat them.

Regarding Rush. I play Hardcore, but the HC default rules make Rush at 64 players a bit meh. Those into HC Rush, check out custom-ruleset servers with HC in their title. Usually is HC + a few more tickets for attackers + spawning at any squad member. Much better. Currently @ 64 players.

If all the points on the big maps weren't within a 50 yard radius of each other it wouldn't be an "issue". There's a lot of wasted space on them. Hopefully Back to Karkand maps will keep their old setup to spread things out a bit.

64 player Operation Metro Conquest is a complete joke. Seriously, it is the worst map. Damavand Peak isn't much better, either. I wonder if realized that completely linear environments with 64 people aren't necessarily a good idea.

I actually like 5-point tug-of-war maps but they require good teams on each side to make it competitive.

Every time I've played it's basically been one team running a train on the other one until they're getting base raped. Maybe once servers get team balance scripts running it'll be better again, but right now just holy poo poo.
