Opus125 posted:I hope EA doesn't get carried away with DLC in this game. The Back To Karkland 'expansion' looks good but they could have just as easily included it in the base game without any fuss. EA being envious of Activision pulling in tens of millions with DLC packs doesn't bode well for the BF franchise. The 2142 and BC2 expansion packs were mini-games by themselves and for the price it's a great deal, and most people are getting Karkand for free anyway which is even better.

Der Shovel posted:Yeah. You can't though. Because most idiots cluster around in a tiny huddle and spray endless amounts of bullets up the stairs while snipers and grenades kill them one by one. The map is atrociously bad with 32 players, but with 64 it becomes an unbearable clusterfuck. That's pretty much how it goes. B really needs some map work; as it stands it's only good for grinding out unlocks. I managed to do pretty well during that round purely out of luck and unbalanced weaponry -- even when there was more than one person at the top of the stairs laying down fire with me, we still couldn't advance forward. It seems like it'd be okay with 24 players, but 32/48/64 just results in eternal stalemate.

I have no idea why people would get a SSD for this game. I have some lovely 40 dollar 500gig hard drive and when the map changes I see the loading screen graphic long enough to count to 4, then I'm in the map with a black screen for 2 seconds and done. Anyone with a 560ti and having problems downclocking is the way to go. I was crashing every 2 mintues and I just downclocked from 900 to 870 using MSI Afterburner and now everything runs like butter.

JaredBS posted:I REALLY suck at leading air targets with the AA guns outside of missile lock range. Any tips ? You'll want to let out a stream of bullets since it can be difficult to know where to aim, if you hit the right spot you'll get the hit marker and even if you pass over it they'll get hit a bunch. I don't think there's any bullet drop on the AA vehicle, although it may just be they travel so fast it does not matter. I'm back to 64 player maps. A few times on the 32 player maps the only time I saw a soldier was when they were jumping out of an exploding vehicle. Some of those nobody has over 5 kills.

The starter sniper rifles are the semi auto 'you gotta hit em 3 or 4 times to kill them' kind. A quick juke and sprint and they can often seem to get behind cover before I can land that third shot. I think it would be more useful as a normal rifle/sub machine gun guy who uses the mobile spawn and motion sensors. cheese fucked around with this message at Oct 28, 2011 around 20:35 |

It seems like if the game is put in the background for some reason (alt-tab out, or some notification message from some other Windows program), it introduces the stuttering I talked about. It's like it does something to the game it can't fully recover from. Anyone else experiencing this?

This game looks so loving beautiful. All settings on high except OA is turned off and I cranked down AA so I can maintain between 50 and 60fps on my 6870 rig and this game is like my computer is making sweet sweet love to my eyes. I'm a console gamer primarily and I didn't know games COULD look this good. I mean I'm three days in and I am still wowed every time a map loads that it could look so amazing. I think visually the least impressive map is the Canals. Everything is so angular and polygonal that it has a very blocky feel to it. Just a byproduct of the map design I guess. I was really worried, what with a bunch of people posting about how it's buggy on their (similar) system, but I guess the whole "for every person who posts a complaint on the internet, there are thousands who have no problems whatsoever" thing is true.
