I know people in this thread must've had the same problem I'm currently (still) having with the game auto-crashing upon launch with multiplayer quickmatch or co-op but are able to run the single-player campaign fine. The battlelog forums are inundated with tons of people with this same problem, and it's also full of a lot of half-assed theories on how to fix it. What I'm wondering is, has anyone in this thread had the same problem and learned how to fix it, and if so, how?

Ran into a server that had no 3rd person camera allowed, being force to use freelook inside your jet cockpit owns so much in a dog fight. They also had spotting only show you on the mini map not in your general view. It was nice not to have 4 stingers constantly locking onto you, but I had to have my map open always hoping that someone on the ground would spot for me.

Given that SP works for you could this be a PB issue?

A quick word on Reactive Armor: it let's your left, right and back armor each take a hit with no damage and is tracked for each vehicle you enter, so if you change tank you'll get a new set. Don't know if it works against C4 or missile that always seem to hit from the top.

That's certainly possible--I can't see how it'd be a video driver issue. But my understanding is that PB problems manifested by being continuously kicked off of servers after you've been on them for a few minutes, or being not allowed to join servers at all, rather than the game itself crashing? I'll try the recommended manual PB updates though, thank you for the suggestions. Hopefully that's what it is.

Yes, it's that. Which is fortunate I guess, since trying the PB update thing doesn't help. I hope the turnaround time on this patch isn't very long.

Just spent the last couple of hours on this and I'm absolutely terrible. I'm not even going to pretend to understand whats going on.

I don't know why some guys are labelled green rather than blue, three of the four classes appear to be almost the same and the maps are so huge that I have no idea where I'm supposed to go or why.

I wish it had a tutorial of some kind.

I liking it so far but I'm kinda missing the simplicity of Battlefield 1943.

All teammates will have a little blue icon above them, this includes vehicles. Shoot at anything that doesn't have this, sometimes bad dudes have an orange icon which means someone spotted them.

Press M to open the big map, then hit N 3 times to change the scale of the map. This should give you a nice overview of the whole map. Enemy controlled points are marked with orange icons. The best way to get comfortable is to pick a point and just kind of defend/attack that one spot. This way you start to learn where stuff is rather than just going a different way every time and getting confused.

Ok, retard question time. When I unlock say, the Heavy Barrel for the AK-74M, or in the future, grips, sights, etc., where do I equip those. I unlocked it during play and during my next spawn I tried to equip the new barrel but I can't find it.

You have to customize your kit. There should be a customize or loadout button (not 100% sure which, and I'm not home to check). In there you can customize the different classes.

Guys that are Green are in your Squad. You should stick with them and accomplish objectives together.

Go anywhere that has an Orange Circle. Kill dudes near it and then stay close until it turns white and then blue. Congrats, you've captured it and got a bunch of points!

Sometimes if your squad leader doesn't suck (and remembers to be a good squad leader) there will be Orange (or Blue!) circles with little tick-marks around them. This means your squad leader has set and objective for you to attack or defend. Any actions near that area will give bonus points to both you and your squad leader.

Wow. Metro is SO bad. In Rush it is horribly balanced and the defenders always win. In Conquest (esp 64) it is just 100% grenade/rpg spam. So glad my favorite server already kicked it out.

On the positive side, camping the top of the crane on Operation Firestorm with a full squad of your friends is loving hilarious.

We even managed to C4 a jet that passed below us. My friend threw some C4 on it and blew it up .

Blue guys are teammates green guys are squad mates. Red/Orange is enemy! Shoot orange!

Each class gets pretty defining gadgets as their first unlock. Assault gets defib to bring people back to life and health packs. Support gets a bunch of things like mortars, claymores, and c4 but mostly he has big big guns for suppression and can dole out ammo packs to his teammate. Engineer is mostly Anti-vehicle, with unlocks for anti-air and laser guided as well as the starting anti-armor. He also gets AT mines and can repair friendly vehicles! Recon get sniper rifles but that isn't whats important. What is important is they get mobile spawn points meaing if they throw down this piece of equipment everyone in their squad can now spawn on it. Its incredibly useful at moving the front line forward. They also have a soflam for laser designating targets and a controllable uav for scouting.

Press N to change the scale of the minimap and M to blow it up big, otherwise just follow your hud elements, the maps are big and at times overwhelming. That just takes time getting used to, I'd suggest getting in a vehicle, air or land, and flying around to check it out and get a general sense of the layout. Or just rush the hud elements and stick with teammates.

There are two main types of gamemodes (but actually a couple others). Conquest involves capturing varied points on the map. Each team gets an uncappable spawn and all the flags start neutral. Its basically a tug of war. Whoever holds the most points drains the opponents tickets the fastest. Tickets decrease both when a player on that team respawns or when the opposing team holds multiple points.

Rush the other mode involves two teams, attacking and defending. The attacking team tries to destroy two points, known as M-Comms. If they are succesful in destroying it, which is done by walking to the m-com and holding E to arm it and defending it till it explodes, the map will continue onto a new set of M-coms. Games can last really long or go really quickly.

Yes, every single time, in both multiplayer (normal) and co-op, as soon as the actual gameplay begins. I've never actually started a game of either successfully. On the other hand, campaign works perfectly. It's incredibly bizarre.

Just had a round of conquest on Op. Firestorm where I went 11-0 in the Tunguska. I must have shot down dozens of planes and helicopters, to the point where the enemy pilots were raging at me in chat. Of course, pubbies being pubbies, not one of them got the idea of driving over in a jeep to C4 or RPG my immobile rear end. Instead, they went up time and time again and lined up to be shot down. Then they tried to kamikaze me but crashed all around me because I was on a little hill.

Then we went to davamand Peak, where I parachuted into the enemy base and proceeded to steal their helicopter. This game owns so hard when it works. Too bad it won't let me change maps without a black screen crash 95% of the time.
