The USAS was my favourite weapon in BC2, now it seems somehow sullied by everyone using it due to being overpowered.

Well, that plus the fact that you have to grind for countless hours to even get it.

Jihadswag? They went for a permaban for that name? I'm sure "they" is the wrong word as regards that, it probably hit some kind of sore point with the individual concerned. They should do a double confirmation thing like they do for SA bans, if they don't already (and if they do, what went wrong this time?)

I'm sorry but you should always manually join squads. When playing with pubbies just find whichever squad has the most bonuses/best score with an open slot (they are often more fun to play with) (also switch if they are snipers)

My initial thought with the squad changes was "great, now no one will be in squads because most pubbies are idiots". Hopefully most non retarded pubbies will actually join squads.

Another possible advantage is when grinding unlocks on metro, it means I potentially have a greater chance of being a squad leader so I can get the nice passive points income from putting an attack/defend order on B.

Just went 22K points before awards on a metro meatgrinder server - call me broken if you like but it's kinda fun in a switch-off-brain-call-of-duty kind of way. It was also the final round needed to unlock my beloved Saiga (that and the usas were my favourites from BC2 for shotgun recon setup).

Although I've actually become kinda fond of the M104 now.

Yeah they throw that poo poo around like confetti. I went to them to merge two accounts but they couldn't do it because I couldn't remember the made up birthdates I used, so since my bc2 and bf3 were on the same account they just applied "veteran status" to them both. I was going to ask what level of vet status that meant, but then I saw I had everything except Play4Free and that takes like sixty seconds to get. Utterly pointless of course.

So you can get the act of valor dogtag by watching the trailer... but only if you're in the US? How bizarre.

Yeah I could proxy it probably, but a bunch of for a tag so can't be arsed.

Edit: ok changing country to US on my EA profile did the trick, that was easy. Also I didn't realise it was a film rather than a game trailer.

I just assumed guided shells were only used when you have someone else to do the locking.

I don't think I'll ever unlock any cool stuff for the tanks.

Can someone tell me more about canister shot, CITV, and all that cool stuff that I may never get to play with? How do they work? And can someone explain the SOFLAM a little better to me, I haven't had any luck with it and I'm not sure what to do with it other than team up with someone who has a javelin.

Just came here to post how much I love the canister shell and why the gently caress did no one tell me about it before. It's a tank mounted shotgun, that's what it is. Put on thermal vision and proximity sensor and you can kill dudes like you have never done before. You can fire the main shell too immediately after your canister shell, so it's like a mini burst mode against infantry. I got so addicted to it I pretty much jumped straight from canister shell to CITV from using tanks so much now.

CITV lets you sit in a third seat in any tank - you don't need to activate CITV, it's always there. I unlocked it while I was driving a tank and the third slot just appeared in the HUD right there and then. The driver doesn't need it, just you. You then get a thermal vision cam, and you lock on to whatever vehicle you've got in the crosshairs - though their stealth upgrades will of course affect the lock time. Then all other people with guided weapons such as guided shells, javlins etc see the lock and can make use of it. You get a small amount of points for designating, and more if people damage and then kill the target. You get no weapon to use in the CITV seat.

The soflam is a lovely thing, you can set it up and use it in the same way as CITV, but it is static and has a very very slow movement. It supposedly auto targets too, but someone will have probably blown it up before that happens. Another thing to make the lovely recon class into simply the sniper class.

Keep on blasting away with those tanks, once you start to get the cool upgrades you won't look back.

Good summary there, I have only been using it a few days but have come to many of the same conclusions. My buddy just unlocked it too, so we will alternate driving/lasing so we both get a feel on the best way to make it work. Also it evens out the CITV-guy-gets-dicked-out-of-his-points factor.

When you do take out an enemy gunship (or fully laden transport/littlebird) it's like angels are singing. Though every time we do, it seems they take exception and come after us. Sometimes that results in more comedy kills, though several times we have been unlucky enough to come across extremely competent pilot/gunner combos who were blatently on voice comms and able to efficiently take us out. With practice, hopefully that will happen less often.

Oh man... I had the most awesome couple of rounds today. I am usually on the ground, but ended up spawning in the gunner seat for a random chopper pilot with low expectations as usual. The guy left me speechless weaving around the map, logically selecting targets, responding to threats, attacking and withdrawing as necessary. He could hug the terrain like you are in a land vehicle, turn in ways I didn't realise were possible and still maintain amazing situational awareness. I did my part too, q-spotting the gently caress out of everything to give him and my team as much information as possible, fragging soft targets of opportunity and following his lead on the hard targets so we could take them out almost always in one pass.

We did lose the chopper one time through very bad luck - he was killed while we were out repairing and I didn't notice, and I was killed like one pixel away from the repair being complete and the guy stole it. Luckily it was only a couple of minutes before he died of natural causes and we were back in the air again. I would have really hated to be on the other team, infantry, jeeps, anti-air, tanks and choppers were all swept aside like they were nothing. Got three chopper unlocks in one 30 minute round.

Got a ton of good fraps footage, might render if together if I get around to it.

Balance tweaks should be separate from patches. Changes that come down to simply changing a number should be able to bypass QA and be streamed to clients on a daily basis if need be (though a more suitable gap would be several days). This would allow tweaks to be applied on a very gradual basis rather than massive bumps which although seemed ok in theory actually turn out to be game breaking.

Ain't gonna happen though.
