Confirming that a ($5 Radio Shack) female to female connector will work fine with the usb cable. I extended about 10 more feet with an extra cord so in essence I have more than doubled the real estate for which I can rock unto.

It did not, however, make my play less sloppy.

I was listening to this week's GiantBombcast and they said quite a few good things about this game therein. Now I come to this thread and I see even more good things being said, and I've been wanting to learn guitar for a while now. I'm just not sure of the time and money I can sink into this right now, even if it's for a productive cause.

-How much time does a usual play/practice session take? Does the game railroad you through several different exercises sequentially like a private teacher would, or is it more in the Guitar Hero/Rock Band style of "play a song, menu, play a song, menu" ad infinitum?

-I notice there's a pack that comes with an actual guitar. Is that an acceptable beginner's instrument or am I more likely to go "I loving love guitar, now that I can play some stuff I should go get an actual guitar!", meaning that I should just get the game and buy a guitar separately to save money?

There's plenty you can do in 30 minutes. Practice any part of any song, play a full song or three, play the minigames that are very 'ok just one more time'-ey. Playing the actual gigs is the only thing that might lock you in timewise, but those are (so far as I've played) 3-5 songs each.

..plus I read that Suh will record a sack for every two hours you put into it and if you complete the campaign Schwartz will call you personally and ask you for ipod recommendations.

Can't find it from earlier in the thread, but someone said all new guitars should get 'checked out' or something by a music shop. Mine's a few years old and I never had it done. So what do I ask for when I bring this to the shop and what do they normally do to it?

Cool, thanks for the info. Do pickups age well or are they like brake pads?
