Warmachine/Hordes, and it is true that one of the things that I appreciate about it is that they keep their models and art very tame from a cheesecake, gross, or inappropriateness point of view. I generally tend to omit mentioning that it is part of a tabletop game, so they pretty much take it like I was painting a WWII model. Avengers was a billion dollar movie, a werewolf with a sword isn't that big of an eyebrow raise anymore... Dead hooker models not so much. Although tbh, I wouldn't paint a lot of GW models either.

Well, you could play Guild. Cowboys and robots city guardsmen and little magic munchkin dudes, no hookers to speak of. Or Arcanists, unless like, bare midriffs on otherwise nonsexualized female models like Kaeris and Myranda are over the line for you, other than that they are again about robots and wild animals.

Lady Justice is a little booby in an amazon Wonder Woman sort of way and Perdita may be too sexualized for you but those two are as bad as the Guild faction gets in that regard and they aren't bad at all.

I... why do the Death Marshalls have flaming skulls? I mean, if nothing else, where are their bandanas covering their mouthes? And why is one dancing on his casket? I really don't like the new DMs at all. I think when Gencon comes around, I'll just order a couple of the old sculpts and a Lady J. I already have a Judge, though getting the new one as an Exorcist might be good.

He's not dancing, that is his coat, not his leg.

I was refering to his bent raised leg. It looks like he's about to do the can-can on a casket. The billowing coat doesn't help either.

Quick note: the proportions in malifaux have often being weird, particularly the heights. Now I find it weird that most wargames have all people be the same height, but Malifaux is much weirder because of how often the women just TOWER over the men. With Lady J's crew it kind of makes sense, making her more of a hulking behemoth; but why does colette tower over the death marshals?

I really like the plastic sculpts for how they seem more sensible, with tiny limbs and heads (by comparison to other ridiculous wargames).

Just finishing off my Cult of December crew. I really love AltRasputina, its a great model.

Just Snowstorm and a second Silent one to go.

Lady J is a big offender in that department - she's literally a full head or more taller than just about every other model, and that's not a fluff thing - she's described as tall but not like 7 feet tall.

Yeah, the reaction on the main board (and RPG.net) was mostly negative, too.

I wonder if far too ridiculous poses for table play will be customizable as well.

You'd be surprised how crazy a pose you can get in plastic and still have it stand on a base and be playable. Mei Feng and Misaki have some pretty crazy poses and work fine.

You don't understand. Goggles aren't eyewear, they are a hair accessory. How else will you keep your fake dread falls in place?

She's a kid, she just saw all the miner's wearing them and thought it was cool. ITS A STYLE DAD, GAWD!

I've always thought of Colette's crew as super models of the day, so massively tall+heels.

Not just on twitter, Eric is all over the internet! This is from his blog, ericjgames.com

Ulix is a Gremlin master that will be a part of Malifaux’s second edition. He’s all about pigs, rides them, herds them, hunts them, and fills his crew with them. He also has a few characteristics like a pig herding dog, he walks with a limp, and carries hunting tools. Totally on theme for Gremlins and fits right in! Right? What more needs to be said?

Well, the inspiration for Ulix comes from much more noble source. The name is derived from Ulixes, which is a variation of the name Ulysses/Odysseus in mythology. Odysseus kept herds of pigs on his island, both domestic and wild. He hunted them frequently with the companionship of his dog, trained for that task. During one hunting trip, he was gored in the leg and always walked with a slight limp due to that wound. He was well trained in all the tools needed to hunt pigs effectively – bow, spear, bola. He had a very “Gremlin” side to him! I think as you learn more about Ulix you’ll see more parallels as well.

Basically, if you take Odysseus, remove his epic tales, stick him in a swamp, shrink him a bit, and paint him green, you have your new Gremlin master! This was one of my favorite adaptations/inspirations for Malifaux 2e, and I’ll always think of Ulix as a little Odysseus with his pigs.

The old models are presumably going out of print though, once they get replaced. At some point you won't have a choice of which to use.

I am not too worried about it because I like both styles in general, and there's only a few old models that are outright too stupid for me to use.

at least people are getting warning of the going out of print and people that are so disgusted of 2.0 are going, if they aren't already, to drop them for cheap on the boards
