What does the "xbox texture problem" look like exactly? I posted about this before but didn't get a response. The sky in my game is completely white/blown out and the darks are way too dark, and the color is washed out of everything. This happened like just yesterday, everything looked great before that, no idea wtf happened. Should I make a separate thread for console tech issues? This one seems very PC-centric

Anyone run into this problem? Any quick fix? I tried checking game cache it found two files but I assume those are the .ini I changed?

It's pretty funny that the lined shadow issue is still around. I had the same issue in Oblivion and I just had to play the game without shadows at all. At least now there is an adequate solution.

Ok, so I was trying to get my FOV working and put in via console and then used the saveini command and now my Skyrim.ini has a lot more variables in it and the 3D models are showing up as tinted red in the loading scenes. What gives? Should I post the contents for review or is this a known thing?

Not just limited to weapons though.

My game lags frequently when I'm outdoors. Is that normal or am I encountering a performance issue? I ask because I can't tell if it's because it's just the game loading new areas or if it's performance related. Is it normal for the game to freeze up a bit out doors every so often? I haven't noticed it happen in doors or in towns or dungeons. Just when I'm exploring.

Yeah that doesn't really describe the problem I'm having. I found one other guy on a messageboard talking about what might be a related issue here: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/6158...skyrim/60969063 But I can't quite tell. It does "adjust" way too fast and is kind of dizzying but also the lights are way too white and the darks way too dark. The sky is pretty much white and if, like, a bandit is coming out me during the day they look almost like just a black outline of a bandit. But the weirdest thing is that this just started recently. The skies were nice and blue and the outdoor lighting was looking great in general before that. Actually in the game I went into Jarl's hall in Markath and it was after I came out and left the city that everything has looked wrong. But I doubt that has anything to do with it (and I've checked multiple locations and have the same issue almost everywhere except undergound). My biggest problem is that the mouse cursor is painfully slow in menus. I have my Windows settings cranked all the way up and mouse accuracy enabled because I don't have a lot of desk real estate for moving around. It takes two entire lengths of my mousepad to traverse my 1920x1080 screen. This is just when I have an actual cursor, though, my normal mouselook sensitivity is fine. I'm using an MX900. I can mitigate this problem by setting custom options in SetPoint but god drat is that program just godawful. Resets my settings on reboot, hangs constantly, and just plain turns off every so often. I'd like to avoid it if possible.

My character frequently thinks he's underwater when on land. It's especially prevalent in caves and when sprinting. It's super-duper annoying. I'm not sure what's causing it - although I'm thinking it might have to do with increasing the uGridsToLoad? Messing with that seems to spawn a lot of problems for people. EDIT:: I'm now reading that this might have to do with too-high FPS. What the hell. StickyNavels fucked around with this message at Nov 17, 2011 around 09:23 |

Anyone getting random, errorless crashes to desktop? The game is up, and then its not. No errors to be seen. Usually happens ever few hours for me. Additionally, there are very occasional instances where textures on armor and creatures will be gone, replaced with a jarring light purple color scheme. Bizarre.

I do, actually. A 27" and a 24", 1920x1200 and 1920x1080, respectively. On the plus side, I'm amazed at how much more optimized Skyrim is when compared to Oblivion. Oblivion still runs like complete poo poo on my pretty good rig, and Skyrim runs on max settings withotu even a hint of slowdown, ever.

Regarding loading screens - I had noticed that the loading screens with pictures and quotes seemed to take forever. I was right. Hitting Ctrl+Alt+Del to bring up the windows menu, then canceling, causes the loading screens to finish substantially faster (like 30 seconds faster or more). Dunno why.

I just read your post that contained your problem, and I'll say this: I have noticed the lighting being odd too on the PC version. I am not sure it's the same situation as yours, as it doesn't really bother me, but when a dragon shouts fire at me, the screen gets dark and takes 2-3 seconds to adjust lighting again. Same thing when I look at the ground then look up. This is all being outside of course, nothing strange while indoors. There isn't much to do in terms of fixing problems for the XBox 360/PS3 versions of the game, unless it's something like "install the game to HDD, delete cache, enter and exit an indoor area while crouching," or "start over again" type solution. Otherwise, the only solution is to wait for patches

Apparently the game can use ambient occlusion on Nivida cards so if you have one of those you might try that fix.

Still trying to get FOV working, as the fix in the OP doesn't work for me. I've tried both ways. The ini version doesn't work until I use the console and type "FOV" (notice no actual number setting just "FOV". As soon as I hit enter, the FOV suddenly will change. Exiting to desktop and then reloading the game brings back the old FOV. I also tried the in game console setting option, but as I mentioned in another post above, it created a huge Skyrim.ini file and my objects in the loading screens (swords, dragons, monsters etc) were all tinted red. Weird. And the FOV still didn't stick. Replacing the Skyrim.ini file with the backup I made (always make back ups when messing with settings and ini files!) got rid of the red tint on objects. Still no FOV love. Researching this, I found more detailed set of ini file settings on the Steam forums. I won't be able to test this out until tonight, but maybe a goon who can can try it and report if it works or not. These settings will apparently fix FOV to whatever value you like permanently and will work through world and travel transitions. Changing FOV
Note that it is two different INI files getting changed, not just the one. Again if some kind goon could check this out to see if it works, great. I will test myself when I get home.

I have found an immersion critical bug: As a Bosmer I am still unable to cannibalize my enemies. As the requirement to eat the flesh of your enemies (even other Bosmer) is central to the Wood Elf religion, this is really loving with my immersion. Bethesda needs to fix this poo poo. At least Bosmer don't look like child molesters anymore I guess.
