It's just so weird that it isn't tied to completion percentage at all. Probably a good thing seeing how poorly thought-out the later vehicle theft missions seem. Most of the assassinations are pretty easy on the other hand.

Anything I should watch out for?

Anything I should watch out for? Haven't gotten to them myself, as I'm in pretty much the same place as you. But reading this thread has informed me that in particular there is a heli theft that has the vehicle spawn on a heliport that is already occupied by default, and a tank mission that is a pain in the rear end to get done, as you can't immediately wipe your wanted status since you're in a restricted area. People have said buying the infinite special ammo, and using the RC device to "Drive" the theft vehicle to the shop is the easiest way to get around this, as you'll not get the wanted level for stealing the car till you get in, right outside the chop shop.

Anything I should watch out for? Couple of nasty missions near the end too, outside of the glitchiness. One is where you have to fly a condor a short distance, but depending on the difficulty a tank will destroy you before you can get enough height to escape it. You can just barely make it on casual. There's one where you have to steal a tank that's stupidly hard no thanks to the PC control scheme that makes you stop every time your tank and barrel aren't perfectly lined up, but the RC trick plus invulnerability helps a lot. A really fun one is where you have to fly a woodpecker across the entire map, then land it on a tiny pier between two sets of crates. You have to go all the way back across the island if you gently caress it up.

The plane one is definitely the worst it took me a few times to try to land it without getting blown up by the cops, landing in the water, or just straight up crashing awfully.

Really the only easy way to do the Condor one (in fact, any of the aircraft ones) is to make sure you make the police forgiveness/Burt's Favour call as soon as you get in the thing. At least I got that Woodpecker "land on this postage stamp" one the first or second time.

Yeah, I'm not sure what was up with those 'land an airplane on this dock between these containers where it clearly can not fit' ones. The first time I had one I think I circled for like 5 minutes trying to figure out just how I was supposed to pull that off. Now I know you can just crash into it full speed and it counts. Which really...I should've just assumed that would work in the first place cause :saintsrow:

Most later vehicle missions also involve driving a big vehicle whose durability isn't enough to counter its inability to dodge police cars or the extra time you spend absorbing bullets. Once you start stealing trucks, you basically need the police forgiveness ability. My car has caught fire right before the entrance to the chop shop so many times that I swear there's some sort of prank in the code.

All you need to do is fly to the waypoint, you dont need to actually land it.

What the gently caress, the hard regular trailblazing keeps failing me with running out of time, but I still have 6 seconds left on the clock. It's not even consistently failing me in the same place.

Thanks for the heads-up. I don't think I have the police forgiveness ability yet, so I'll progress the story some more before taking on the toughest vehicle thefts. I did do the limo theft already (no STAG yet), and that was a bit of a pain. I think you could measure the turning speeds of some of those vehicles in degrees per day. Even the cement mixer wasn't as slow around corners. Miyamoto Musashi fucked around with this message at Jan 9, 2012 around 08:06 |

Don't get too far in or suddenly you're gonna have heat lasers up your rear end.

Peterbuilt with STAG in town has been frustratingly difficult for me, especially since I usually hit that last stretch of highway before I catch fire and have to go all the way back to trigger the spawn. Even with Nitrous boost I can't get enough separation from my truck and the STAG/Cop Cars and handling goes to poo poo since they pop my tires once I hit the highway.

Just unlocked the VTOL(does that need to be spoiled?). My is that thing fun to use to destroy Gang Locations with. Also, I just upgraded my SMGs to Level 4, incendiary bullets. Totally worth it.

Any tips on using the A-10 clone? I can't keep it in the air,and the gun seems very hard to aim since the aircraft is in the way of whatever I am aiming at.

I'm on my second play-through, and for clearing Gang Locations and generally fuckery I've just discovered the joy of armored vehicles like the turreted Bulldog, or--if I don't have to drive the big dumb thing across town--the Bear). The Bulldog is fun to drive solo, but I really love when a follower climbs up into the Bulldog turret to start blasting away at anything vaguely hostile. They're not great at shooting, but they're not terrible either. And the Bear's a pain to lug around, but that cannon makes for some really satisfying instakills.

Some won't unlock until later of course, but some vehicle missions become harder/impossible once you get to the point where STAG occupies the city, because police notoriety becomes way more of a threat. They're somewhat more doable in co-op or with the "camera doesn't stick all the time" mod in IdolNinja's Gentlemen of Steelport. The biggest problem is that you often can't use rockets on things behind you unless you're in the passenger seat, and even when you can shoot stuff with your pistol the camera likes to be a gigantic bitch. vvvv Don't get me wrong, I love it when dicking around, but trying to drive a stolen limo across town while getting fried by a VTOL laser is not fun. I've found the STAG threat so far to be insanely enjoyable because when you get bored of running around murdering things, it is easy to erase the meters by running into one of your buildings. So many times I stir up poo poo with one of the gangs, STAG, or both and realize I'm out manned and run to the closest shop, purchase it, and step inside. I then pop outside, launch a grenade at the immense amount of enemies, and watch them go boom.

Saints Row 4 needs to include a banana peel grenade. Not enough pedestrian pratfalls! Or marbles you can upgrade to caltrops for foot hoppin', tyre poppin' fun.

I get bored when I drive around Steelport, the city feels empty. In SR2 it was fun because you could go to places like a University campus with a lot of hilarious stuff going on. Haven't seen anything like that in 3 so far. Are they any unique areas to visit?

It's impossible to use if you don't eliminate your target in the first hit because if you have to turn around for a second pass you'll fly out of the draw distance and have to respawn it again. It's fun for flying around causing random mayhem but it goes so fast and things spawn so slow that you'll never really see the results of your handiwork. A missed opportunity. My tip, unfortunately, is use something else.

I just played the ending where you let Shaundi die but kill Killbane and Cyrus, and I think that ending is a lot better. Mostly because the final mission isn't so cheesy.

I strongly agree here. The generic Saints Stronghold Penthouse interior is a lot better than any given SR2 crib, but three identical ones? Replacing crazily unique interiors? It's really one of the more baffling decisions, no matter how cool seeing the city covered in purple skyscrapers from outside is.

Yeah, the sets were already built, just throw in a splash of purple and I'd be totally ok with it. Especially since safeword is swank as hell.
