RE: Mjoll's sword quest, I first talked to her around level 15ish, no quest offer. It was right when I got to Riften, hadn't done any quests there. Didn't talk to her again until level 30, had done tons of poo poo (including some thief guild stuff) and she was in the tavern bitching to her buddy Aeris or whatever. So then she gave me the quest. And I already cleared that dungeon and had the sword, so I just handed it to her.

So what are the main story quests? I feel like I'm on the right path, but then I end up getting some quest that feels totally random and when I'm done, I'm pretty sure I didn't advance the story line forward at all.

So I did the side quest in Blackreach to find 30 crimson nirnroot, and handed it in, right? Got my reward and whatnot (I hear it's pretty neat and useful), and so I'm happily advancing the main quest, la de da, and saved many times. Go back to my shack in Whiterun after an hour and a half or so, and dump everything I have collected into the chest. I decide it's about time to see what that quest reward was. It's nowhere to be goddamn found in mine, the chest's, or Lydia's inventory. I have not dropped nor sold anything at all. It has completely vanished. Fix your loving poo poo, Bethesda.

The book is useless (not even a skill book), the real prize is the permanent buff. You should see it under Magic->Active Effects. It's called Sidarion's Serendipity or something like that, and it gives you a 25% chance to craft 2 potions every time you make a potion.

I find that I can't stop making new characters, as there are just so many different things I want to try. I'm now glad I mostly avoided fall-out/morrowind/oblivion (though I did pick this one up for the last few months :] it set me up for skyrim well) because I still enjoy a lot of novelty. A fortunate side effect of having so many characters, I also find, is that it breaks the self-rewarding reward cycle. The pay-off for X hours of gameplay is X hours of fun adventures, not a twice-enchanted Legendary Orcish War Axe and 185x Fine Steel Dagger of +1 Stamina. tl;dr I enjoy this game and alt-itis saved my soul Happy Gaming! I'm gonna go make a guy that looks like Indiana Jones.

Having some weird issues with skyrim. My shouts are unbinding after I use them once. I have to re-select them from my favourites menus. This is annoying in the heat of battle as you can imagine! I've never had this issue before....Blame the patch perhaps? Second: I have a sizzling / crackling sound that loops on my character. It stops when I enter menus and containers. I found a fix...I typed SEXCHANGE twice into the console and it stopped it. But now it is not working at all. It sounds like a spell's crackling sound, like flames. Not quite the Elemental fury glitch that I found on Youtube. Much more subtle, but once you hear it..you cannot un-hear it!

Does anyone have tips on improving your odds of decapitating someone? Right now I have a save where I have Hamelyn on the brink of death in the basement of Honeybrew Meadery for the Thieves' Guild quest Seriously I've met bandits, murderers, old hags, and general assholes, but Hamelyn, this guy is by far the BIGGEST CUNTS of them all. I've never wanted to see someone's head seperated from their shoulders more than this guy. Who the gently caress is he? I don't care, gently caress him.

Is it just me or are the scimitars crazy powerful? My ebony sword deals about 58 damage when upgraded to legendary but my scimitar is at 75. Does smithing skill affect the damage increase when you upgrade stuff? I chugged a +100% smithing potion when I upgraded the scimitar.

Yeah, if you had the ebony perk in smithing, you'd get some crazy powerful poo poo from it, as the perks I think double your effective output or whatever. But yeah, simply having a high smithing stat makes stuff better too, even without the perks.

I've also had it start to work again by exiting one zone and loading another, then returning to the spot you wanted to use it - that's a fix as long as you aren't trying to TCL your way out of being stick in geometry or something. In that case you are gonna have to restart if it's not working. It's strange that it only works when it feels like working being a console command and all.
