I was hoping for more customisation options too, as in actually designing the outfit rather than selecting one of a handful of presets. Dressing the entire gang in the Zimos fetish pony outfit would be boss though.

Confirmed that the vehicles were what was crashing it, will wait for pro (read: willing to invest more time than I am) modders to solve that one.

But the weapon fix did work, now I can actually use the "better" assault rifle without firing 6-8 more shots after I already headshot my target, and the multislot thing works but I haven't played with it much. I think the multislot ones need to get rid of ObscuredSlots too to properly allow you to be a clipping nightmare. Not sure on DLC flags since I haven't gone anywhere to look if there's new stuff (dunno where I'd look).

In bad news, the super-annoying basic gameplay popup poo poo still pops up for normal amounts of time, I'm not sure on the other one if it made a difference.

Not Machine Washable


I'm having trouble re-building the archive files. Even if I unpack a file, do nothing, and re-pack it, it crashes the game as I start. I am using the most recent tools released too (well, as of 3 days ago anyway). Am I doing something wrong? I tried with and without the compress function.

edit: nevermind, new one works fine

A mod suggestion (if this is even possible), some sort of t-shirt cannon weapon. Because of a certain exchange during one of the city takeover missions, with Piers dealing t-shirts. My boss decided to add one more line after the 'How do you reload t-shirts' 'You know what I meant' discussion. Namely: 'Turn it into shrapnel!'

Worst case scenario, I guess that the Genki-cannon's ammo models could be changed from people to t-shirt pellets? Not sure how possible it would be though, but hey, the game pretty much came up with the idea on its own.

The challenger can be repainted using the bug someone in the general discussion thread posted.

Basically so long as it's in your garage, drive any other customizable car into rim jobs and then select "garage", highlight the challenger then press exit and choose accept.

Took me a couple of tries of going back and forth from the garage menu but eventually it dumps you into the customize screen with the challenger and you can dick around with the paintjob.

The VTOL laser seems to act as an explosion, because if you turn on Super Explosions it suddenly has a huge area of effect. Unfortunately this means it damages the vehicle you're in if the target is too close.

Does the Gatmobile's flamethrower deal damage to it if you drive through it?

It doesn't seem to, because the Gat Mobile's flamethrower is powerful enough to destroy a car in a matter of seconds and yet you can hold the flame button down forever, with the flames passing right through the van, and it won't phase it.

It's hard for me to tell because I always have car mass hole on and I drive into everything in front of me. I didn't notice how quickly the flamethrower destroyed other vehicles though.

Super Explosions makes the Cyber Blaster so amazing and the air strike, too. Super Explosions improves everything (tm)

I'm pretty sure every weapon in the game is hitscan (aside from obvious exceptions like the rocket launcher), including the flamethrower, and the things like the flames or tracers are just cosmetic.

How do you repackage vpp_pc files with Gibbed's tools? Do you just drag the folder in, or do you move the edited file to the binary? I've tried both and I'm sure it's not doing anything.

I think I got it. I'm not very savvy about the deeper reaches in computers, so thank you for answering my question.

E: Whoops, I thought of something else, so I did a search for the file, and Windows actually fetched a copy.
Apparently if you try to drop the file onto the .exe (Like I was originally trying to do) it'll drop it into c:\users\<username>
I didn't think about that.

Edit: Nevermind, upon further research I rose a red flag without thinking. Turns out I output a file with a different source directory, and that was why the game was crashing. Sorry Gibbed!

I was poking around the archive format for the radio stations and other sound files and the format is actually pretty simple. While there are some parts of it where I don't completely understand the data, I've written a pretty simple extractor, and if I figure out how to create those vorbis-stuffed .wav files, I might be able to edit radio stations or more!

EDIT: I've gotten a packer working to the point that can play at least other music files in other radio stations and they play in game, but I haven't looked into converting your own music to the format the game uses. Custom tracks also do not cut off correctly, still using the old song's timings, so anybody who thinks they can fix this feel free to take a look. Fixed! See issue 2.

Please note that you have to replace two files to get this working in game: One in sounds_common.vpp_pc (radio_*_media.bnk_pc) and one in soundboot.vpp_pc (radio_*_media.mbnk_pc). The packer makes both. If you don't replace the one in soundboot.vpp_pc your radio station will be broken and probably only one song will play correctly.

EDIT2: Found out how to fix the cut-off issue! You have to also edit the radio station table in mist_tables.vpp_pc. Just find the right song in <Song_List> and edit the length (it's in milliseconds). Also, I've found that using gibbed's latest tools that trying to compress misc_tables.vpp_pc causes the game to crash, so don't do that. All that's left now is finding a way to convert songs to their funky RIFF + Vorbis + Other poo poo file format.

Alrighty, I'm chewing through the weapons data, I'm slowly turning all the special weapons into permanently equipable weapons. It's going pretty well so far, right now the shock hammer works perfectly, although it has infinite ammo, so I would like to balance that somehow.

Yeah I'd like more information on this as well. I used some of the tribals from nobody loves me along with the 3rd street saints upper back tattoo for my boss in SR2, and I want to rock them in 3 as well.

One of the things that I'm hoping is that tattoos, features, and makeup options are all layers. It could be one of the reasons they went with separate models for NPCs instead of basing everyone off a single model. If it's a feature, then there's likely a masked map as well as a normal map for stuff like scars.

In short, there's a likelihood we can have stuff like that Omar's facial scar, Balalaika's burns. and Glasgow smiles in-game soon.

Got the audio ripping working thanks to the advice and programmes in this thread only to realise all the djs, advertisements, news and other misc radio sounds are found under 768 files called radio_misc_media

At least I have found the best soundclip from the Adult Swim channel:

So how well does this play with co-op? Will the customized vehicles show up alright in other players' games?

Just got a report that it causes coop crashing if one player is unmodded. Removing the mods fixes it.

You could always customize first then remove the mods. They simply change the lua to allow it in the menu. Your vehicles should still be customized after removal.

mod suggestion if possible adding hydraulics to car customization options in garages.
It was pretty basic in sr2, wheels just left the axle but bouncing around the city or crushing people was so much fun.
