ABENOTE: This funky buttlover solicited in GBS without Moderator Approval. Because of this, he is now subjected to a MODERATOR CHALLENGE. Read below! The Goons have successfully and also crashed and burned terribly in the realm of online politics. Probably the best one that I can remember was when the Goon hive-mind decided that UC Santa Cruz (mascot the Banana Slugs) should win the Victoria Secret Pink competition. Before the Goons stepped in UCSC was around the 200th place and needed around 100,000 votes to get to the top. We loving did it. But we overstepped our boundaries and got around a million votes or so and then Victoria Secret reset the votes and put at us -4 million votes. ![]() But before that moment of complete failure, there was time of success and tears of joy. Here are some glorious quotes from the old thread: quote:
![]() This is the new Joan of Arc. She is crusading across France and is crushing the competition because she wants to and because you want her to. Right now in France, Red Bull is having a student photography competition. Each school makes a submission and based on facebook likes, it gets a rank. Now, the competition is based around skiing and snowboarding. Naturally a lot of the big universities in the Alps are taking this competition very serious and are putting a lot of resources and time into it. Now our new Joan of Arc does not hail from the mountains. She comes from the city of Marseille. Famous for its fish soup and outrageous soccer fans. Just take a look at our beautiful mountains: ![]() Or our famous ski resorts: ![]() As you can see, we have nothing to do with the mountains. My university is on the Mediterranean coast, we have palm trees on our campus and we don't give a gently caress. So help our heroine crush the competition by going here: ![]() http://ifyousolicitforvotesbefore-isayitsokiwillban.you and giving it a facebook like. It's no bullshit applications or anything like that. You are simply just voting. You can immediately remove the "XYZ has liked a website" off your FB feed and it won't spoil the voting and your friends won't be wondering why you voted for a French competition. The voting situation is quite nice and we can really propel forward to crush the opposition. It took about 2 weeks for my school to get ~200 votes. I got us another 385 votes yesterday by getting some help from my personal friends as well as some small websites. Montpellier responded by getting a poo poo load of votes yesterday (over 300). We are not that far behind. At ~500 votes right now we are only 100-200 votes behind the leader and after that it is all going to be glorious times for us! So I ask the Goons, our past victories brought us joy, let us net another one!

I don't wanna poo poo too hard because you at least put some effort into your OP, but yeah, there's zero entertainment value in this for GBS, so why do you expect everyone to win this contest for you?

If only you could get up their, you'd show them who is boss and save the rec center and win the girl. Just think, this will help you train for the adversity that you'll have to overcome in the third act as you win the Mt. Croissant Downhill Championship.

Enigma89, for crimes against the forums, stemming from your inability to read the rules thread in regards to "Soliciting For Votes On The Forums", you are now subjected to a Moderator Challenge. You have 48 hours from this post to complete the following challenge: 1Eye Of The Beholder: For this challenge, you will need to recreate the following photo that you might find familiar: ![]() While I'm not counting on you to flood a downtown area while wearing a bikini & an animal (dead?) on your head while carrying what appears to be a snowboard, I am expecting you to come to some close approximation to this. There MUST be effort in this recreation, there must be some exposed legs, and you need to look really happy in the process. You also need to be holding up a sign that says "YOUR USERNAME is a monk of the bourgeois state!" PLEASE NOTE: If any goon decides to complete this challenge before you do (with significant effort, as deemed by moi), then they may determine your fate. If multiple goons do, then I'll go by their consensus. If anyone submits a lovely entry, I'll annihilate them. If you successfully complete this challenge, then I will not ban & probate you, and I will sticky this thread and encourage all of GBS to vote for your candidate. If you fail, then I will etc etc. You know what that means. So get going, Enigma89!

All things considered, the OP probably lucked out here by being mod challenged. It's not that hard of a challenge, and could actually get him the results he wants.

Of all the goonicratic votes I can remember, the best was for I Love New York, or whoever that dumb ugly whore was.We selected The Fireman, who was a true man among men. With a blazing red beard, huge girth, and a taste for beer and cheerios, he stole our hearts and minds and our votes. However, thanks to the use to scripts and complaints to the staff, one contestant displaced our lovable Fireman, and instead, cheated his way onto the show. His name? The Entertainer.
