You'll want to farm the bosses and some of the new enemies for some powerful non-weapon/armor items as well.

Is there any reason why this is suddenly "Not valid housing"? An NPC was living here before he was gibbed by goblins![]() There's no background holes as far as I can see, and even with the platform splitting the room it should meat the minimum height requirement.

Cicadalek posted:Is there any reason why this is suddenly "Not valid housing"? An NPC was living here before he was gibbed by goblins Sometimes there are weird spacing requirements for valid housing; I have eight nearly-identical rooms but one of them is only valid housing when the door is closed. I fixed that by moving the table and chair a hair's-length away from the door, so try playing with the positions of your furniture. Are crafting tables a valid "comfort item"?

I finally got The Destroyer. I had to cheat to get that cross necklace, because it seems like my entire level was void of any Mimics (Those I had only dropped Dual Chains, the fuckers). Now to begin making more elaborate weapons and stuff. I'd like to make that Megashark, for example. Or something that makes me feel like a badass.

Oh man, magic is so much more fun than I remember it being. I haven't even killed the Wall yet and I'm already a force of nature. With meteor armour, Water Bolt, Magic Missile and a Space Gun, I'm absolutely stomping the poo poo out of Hell and hoarding up all that sweet sweet hellstone. Got myself a molten pick, now I just need to get my hands on Demon Scythe and finally get one of those stupid god drat blue flowers from the Jungle. On that note, does anyone know of a good trick for finding a Nature's Gift? I spent all night tearing through the underground Jungle and didn't see a single one. I want to put together a Mana Flower before I face the Wall. It's probably just poo poo-luck that I haven't found one yet, but I'm hoping there's some trick or strategy that will improve my chances.

I got a question, if I start a new world and bring the pwnhammer with me, can I start smashing demon altars right away, or will it just not do anything? I like the idea of getting the new metals, but I can't spend more than five seconds underground without being killed by about fifty chaos elementals. I forgot how bad I was at this game before I managed to scrape up enough hellstone for a set of molten armor.

I believe someone asked this earlier in the thread, and the consensus was that demon altars are flat-out indestructible, even to the pwnhammer, until the Wall's been defeated. edit: beaten to the punch

I don't know if anybody else cares about this, but tshock's current prerelease builds are once again compatible with mono, and thus you can run dedicated servers on Linux again. You can get it from the buildbot here by clicking on "artifacts" for the current build and downloading the files. Requires 2.10. Note that this is prerelease bleeding-edge stuff and may be buggy as all hell, but at least my friends and I can run a dedicated server now

Has anyone stripped their world of corruption/hallow yet, or converted it 100% to one or the other? I've wondered if it's worth trying but I figure it spreads so fast you's basically have to mine out the entire thing and replace it with new blocks and put in anti-spread walls of wood or something.

Gorfob posted:Sweet. What sort of ram are we looking at for 5ish players? I have no idea what it is on average, but at the moment ours is using 1.2 gigs for a large world and one player. I imagine that it'd be more a function of world size than player count, so probably a medium or small world would be much, much less. It's also possible to run without all the tshock addons by not installing the plugins folder, and that could potentially make it use less also. I've been trying to figure out why you would ever really want to, myself, because it would be a ridiculous amount of effort and the only thing to happen would be removing ability to access some of the game content on that world.

I was overwhelmed with all the hard mode stuff I could make, and I wanted something that would summarize it at a higher level than the wiki, so I made this:![]() To keep it readable, this graph does not include most non-hard-mode ingredients (torches, iron, etc.). Technical details for the curious: I scraped the recipes from the wiki using a quick Python script. Here's the machine-readable recipe tree in JSON format if anyone cares. I had a script turn that into the TGF graph format and then I used yEd to isolate the hard-mode components and arrange the graph (here's the final graphml file). I exported to PNG and slapped it onto a background based on this iphone wallpaper from a guy named Sapphiresin on the Terraria forum. EDIT: Updated to v2 -- fixed some missing links and items, cleaned up the arrangement. (Old version here) Stabby McDamage fucked around with this message at Dec 21, 2011 around 05:10 |
