I know we move using wheels in the toes or something and that is probably one reason we can face anyway we want to when we move. Pretty cool thinking of the pods just sliding around.

Well the easy solution would be to do something like Size/10 for damage on a DFA or ramming attack or something similar... But there already are melee weapons in the game, and it's hard enough to use them so I wouldn't want to remove their shine any further.

I also sort of think that if two pods got in a head-on they would just kind of bounce off each other... They are kinetically-resistant spheres after all..

Besides, I hear it's if the pods touch.

And now, The PodPron channel presents: Hot Pod on Pod Action 53!

But yeah, ramming and death from above would be sort of interesting, although I prefer the oldschool, Battletech way of doing it (yeah, sure, you can do it, but it's a desperation move at best, and a quick way to get killed at worst... remember, lose your legs, lose yer mech!)

Obviously, it's a bit early to do any sort of analysis, but I'll be working on some mech analyses, posting them off to Gravedust, and writing future Mech-Wreck reports when I have the time.

You have to fall at least 2 height to take it unless Gravedust adds in shoving with uncontrolled falls or decides to use the graphic for walls to also designate when a 1 height change is not some climbable incline, but just a drop. Then any fall where you land on something that isn't your feet could be bad.

I'm making a version of the Selkis with a defensive hacking unit in it (so 0 range) and I wanted to know how they worked. Do they apply automatically without any increase in signature or energy use? I've been looking at Signature as a mix of heat and EM signals being emitted by a pod, and thus a passive hacking unit with no range wouldn't be sending out signals.

Also, can a defending device only apply the bonus to one hack per round? What happens if a defending unit has more than one hacking device?

Digging the Gladius Mk2-JJ! Might I recommend the name 'Rapier' as a bit of a lighter, more precise weapon? Either that or the Spatha, the Roman sword used from horseback (i.e. above ).

Bingo. It only generates sig or uses energy if you actually "fire" it. If it's just sitting there looking cool it doesn't effect your sig or energy, like any other weapon.

Farseli posted:

That is a drat excellent question. Defending device bonuses don't stack so in the case of 2 Defensive nodes with different values (say 40 and 10) I'd use the higher value.

• Kata-Haro advances in his mighty Sovern, taking an opposite route towards the enemies on the Southwestern hill.

• Slaan sets his pod into motion, making the ground tremble both with his own footsteps and the twin heavy rockets he sends up.

• Green Intern's fingers fly over his keypads as he barks out several orders to his onboard helper AI's. The discs on the back of his pod hum almost imperceptibly as his systems probe the enemy's for a weak spot. Aboard Brown three, Pressley blinks in surprise as his Autocannon suddenly takes itself offline for a self-diagnostic.

• Jihad Joe stumbles slightly going up the hill and accidentally kills a prairie dog.

It is only every 5 turns and the pods have to give it some kind of LoS. These guys didn't know it could do that. We won't always have it with us either. This is our base of operations, it has to be difficult to take out.

Alright, Pilot orders for this turn.

1. Hack Brown 3 - Disable Shields! (Hoping for some damage from arty)
2. Hack Brown 3 - Disable Cannon! (I really like picking on this dude, apparently.)
3. Move to S7, facing south. Time to get some more cover, especially if I'm going to be hacking this much.

Excellent! A really good first exchange of fire! Let's focus on knocking off the smaller guys first. It's not too much of a hassle for me to disable Brown 3's only weapon every turn, making him not much more than a big pile of armor.

I wish I could disable Brown 6 a little more decisively. But his melee weapon is untouchable in that regard. I'm not sure if it's worth trying to spike his signature or kill his movement over locking down Brown 3 completely.

I'm up for changing these orders slightly if there are better suggestions.

Oh it's terribly overpowered, but it'll work out, I promise. I've planned around getting 1 of my pods vaporized every 5 turns. This would be a terribly uneven fight even without the assembler, (3000 points vs. 4200) but it might even up a little soon. I'm not really limited to just 6 pods on the field.

Granted, it looked very cool doing it, and the burning crater that followed the beam's path WAS pretty impressive, but he'd really wished those guys in Firing had aimed at the pod that was actually coming after the Assembler! Well, no hope for it now. They just had to trust in the skill and professionalism of the deployed pilots and...

It's been brought to my attention that I've left something incredibly crucial out of the movement rules. Here it is:

-------------
Terrain can effect movement as well. Moving up from one terrain height to a higher one costs an extra movement point. Moving down an elevation does not incur an extra movement cost.
-------------

A rule so integral to the movement system that I apparently assumed I'd already added it, and then never actually did.

^^^^^I believe that the Assembler ignores it...or it has to overdrive. This was mentioned in the pod submission for the GOLIATH ADS system. It has 1 move and Gravedust said a hill could beat it.

If we sig spike unshielded guys they become easy pickings for the missiles too. I know Slaan can't this turn, but if they are still there on the next turn it would be great if he could split his fire between both of the elevation 3 spots.

---Farseli's Data Log---
A burst of static washed out the main screen as the Nova Lance fired. The enormous signature spike from the Assembler was forcing his sensors to readjust.

"Computer, get eyes on Brown 1"

ERROR: Target pod not found. "What? Patch me into the Assembler's camera."

Looking into one of the smaller screens near his controls, Farseli could see what looked like a scorched line in the ground leading to where Brown 1 had been seconds ago. "Holy poo poo! Next time I won't skip the briefing!"

Sitting at his computer, Farseli clicked the spam folder on his mail account. "Oh sweet, I just won a Kesmian lottery! Except for the fact that Kesmia was blown up like 3 years ago. Delete."

He sighed as he deleted all his messages since there wasn't ever anything good. As he was about to close the program, a new message appeared in his inbox. It was the first to skip his spam folder in a few days.

Subject: Get to know the Assembler!

"What is this? Okay yeah, builds pods, has rooms, coffee maker on the 3rd floor. Shields blah blah Nova Lance blah blur blee whatever. Poops pods and keeps me warm. Delete."

===Present day===

Spotting a target bobbing around the top of the hill, he itched for his trigger, but he couldn't get a bead on the guy. He instead opted for the comm switch. "I can't hit him from here, I'm going to swing around to the east. See if you guys can flush them from the hilltops."

Grabbing the controls again, he sent his pod strafing though the petrified joshua trees to his left. As he burst into the clearing he hit the pedal linked to the jumpjet controls and punched the pod into the next area of cover.

The Assembler specifically gets to ignore the terrain movement rule since it only moves 1 under normal circumstances. I actually had that mentioned on the first round update but it disappeared in subsequent updates. Le sigh. I'll add it back in. Very astute question though.
