My friends and I have a greater than 90% win rate on Grimms just by picking pollywog, keeper, and basically whoever third (I like defiler). Polly rushes staff of the master asap, keeper rushes sols, and we just push/backdoor to victory. Because there's only 2 shorter than normal lanes to push, I haven't seen anybody actually able to defend against this. We've even won games where we were all 6+ levels behind all of them. The only loss I remember is when we fed so bad (like we were all 0-20-0) that their flint could solo mega creeps, which we still got anyway via backdooring. So yeah, the meta is different.

I recently moved and with my new internet connection I'm getting lots of what appears to be packet loss in hon. I'll get the DC icon, lose control of my hero and be unable to chat, but the game continues normally and suddenly all my inputs go in at once. It is incredibly frustrating because this is the only game I play online, and it effectively ruins the game. I've taken to picking heroes like jeraziah because even I end up helplessly watching as he walks into 4 enemies there is a halfway decent chance I can pop my abilities/items and walk away with a sliver of health and hopefully the bad dudes have blown their cooldowns and my ever so gank happy teamates can descend upon them.

Junglers become rune masters and capable of/required to be ganking almost non-stop. A lost teamfight or two results in losing your lane's only tower, and another means you're raxed and now down 50% income/defensive units. I played the map thinking EW and BH would be the defacto kings, but really, it's a pusher and ganker map by far. Devo, Keeper, Tort, Master of Arms, Defiler, etc all shine because of how the map tailors to their specific abilities. Even the juking is crazier on Grimm's because you have actual forests filled with tress to juke through. Although, I'm starting to think Ra is actually the king of Grimm's; stacking the easy camps, getting instant level 2, meteoring lanes and other jungle camps for a fast hotbl, and then just pushing to win. Going to have to try that next time it's a blue moon and a solo queue for Grimm's pops in less than 10 minutes before I give up.

It doesn't happen in ANY other game. I could go download at 4mb/s at the same time HoN is giving me this plug icon. Weird thing is people can hear my ingame voice lag-free while HoN is plugging me and my hero is running in random directions. I have no idea what to make of it, but somehow this is all s2's fault.

The freezing thing has mostly not been a problem since the patch claiming to fix it, but I still have the game freezing on and off for a few minutes every few games. Agro ver Haus doom posted:My new favorite hero is Ra. He is so idiot proof and stupidly easy (and fun!) to play. I love him. Really good initiator and solid in team fights. If you aren't already, after you get Steamboots, Hotbl, and Shaman's (if you need full-on shaman's instead of just mystic vestments that is) get Blademail. Blademail turns Ra from an already insane hero into someone who can wreck teams if he has even a minor farming edge over them. "Oh you wanted to kill me? I sure hope you like an additional few hundred magic damage on top of the hundreds I'm already dishing out!" It also incidentally gives him some much-needed armor. On the flipside, if the enemy team targetting you isn't an issue because of how buff you are, get buffer with Insanitarius. Or if you're like me and you like to be an rear end in a top hat to pubs, just rush Shieldbreaker or Frostburn. Shieldbreaker if you're tanky enough already, Frostburn if you want your own team to rage at you while pubbies cannot escape the slow of your Ignite plus the slow of your Frostburn while they melt in your AOE, unable to escape, only to hope to CC you (which will be hilarious if you have Blademail and pop it before the CC hits!). Daemonic as a finishing touch to either. Just remember that your goal should be 400GPM asap, don't settle for 300, and always carry TP because as you farm, TPing into teamfights usually means at least one kill for you if not a few hundred in assist gold, and then you go into the nearest jungle and resume farming as you make your way to a shop for TP. (Or ignore all of the above because really you should be getting Heart after HotBL at which point you win the game if you farmed it in the correct amount of time; it adds 965 HP and a ridiculous amount of regen, allowing you to deal amazing amounts of damage from your passive alone because you take SO much damage to kill, while helping your team because the enemy MUST blow CCs on you or they just melt.) If the enemy team has a competent Salf or Slither, be very loving afraid unless your teammates shut them down. Salf's ult blocks 100% of your regen while hurting you *a lot* and Slither's passive blocks 80% of your regen. Pred is theoretically a counter, but in practice once he gets you to about 1/3 HP he won't outleech your innate regen while you pound his ugly loving face into the ground unless you really let him outfarm you (in which case, for shame) or it's a bad gank where there's no friendlies to take advantage of the fact that pred isn't killing them/enemies are CCing you so Pred can kill you. While it is likely I haven't run into any good sunflowers, my standard RAAAAA blitz seems to generally hold them down. Does the aura thing really cause that much of a bother? No one ever seems to be able to land his...nuke thing though. Pred I can understand if he has been freefarming (which like you said, really shouldn't be happening) and has his skin. Does barbed armour push through magic immunity? Does magebanes manaburn counter as damage to reflect??

Barbed armor returned damage is strictly magic damage. Magebane's magic armor will mitigate this damage to a large degree. I'm not positive of your final question.

| # ? Feb 7, 2012 21:59 |

If Salf ults you you lose the ability to regen, it deals a moderately strong dot and when combined with his innate aura it means that you start losing a very large amount of health to cast abilities without any good way to gain it back. It also doesn't help that he barfs out true damage constantly.

I was just stuck with a team that was getting its stuff wrecked by Armadon. After almost 30 minutes of putting up with "ARMADON DOES TOO MUCH DAMAGE HIS PASSIVES ARE TOO STRONG" I finally managed to convince my entire team to get a Null Talisman. (The enemy team also had Nomad and Rampage ) From that point on we would drop Pyromancer and Monarch at the start of every fight and then we popped the Talismen and there was nothing they could do about it. Being stuck in the 1400's, that kind of game feels like a glorious victory to me!

Just loaded up my first game of HoN. I have some sort of error? It says Loading Game and a little box is up that says Please Wait. This persisted through hero select and in game? Now I can't click on the upper 75% of my screen. Oh boy I'm doing so well for my first time. Edit: So I can't select a skill or buy any items and I can't relog since I'm at a cyber cafe. Alt+f4 doesn't work? The best part if nobody is even saying anything. In fact they're all yelling at each other. Dark Lady and Devourer are screaming at each other from literally the first five seconds about Bottle as a first item. They keep votekicking each other and saying the other is why we lost and I haven't left fountain but twice. I think I'm gonna like it here. I was just reading the balance forums and I saw Brannock saying he only gets mystic vestments when he has over 1200HP. Why is this? Is that the point where it becomes more cost-effective than buying a bracer? I didn't say I got it only after 1200 HP, I was just using that number as an example to show how efficient the item is. I think the breakpoint is somewhere like 1000 HP, but obviously it varies depending on what health item you're comparing it to. Mystic vest is always worth getting if the other team is magic heavy, but you'll always want some raw health for it to inflate. Having 600 HP and a mystic vest isn't going to do you much good.

If a lvl 11 pebbles combos you with 800 hp it probably won't matter if you have vestments or not. If you have 1k-1.2k hp then you are pretty much on the safe zone with vestments.

Elman posted:I was just reading the balance forums and I saw Brannock saying he only gets mystic vestments when he has over 1200HP. I haven't done the math on a bracer in a while, but I know against pure magic damage, vestments is only better than helm of the black legion if you have more than ~1100hp. Of course, straight hp is more useful than ehp vs 1 type of damage, so it makes sense to stack hp to a certain point before buying armor.
