I'm always unsure of the best first item to go with on Pharaoh after I get my chalice/steamboots/mystic vest. What do you usually build on him?

My last five Pharaoh games I've gone puzzlebox, SotM, barbed armor, nullstone, mock as my first major items after my core loadout. None of them has felt like they've really stepped up my power level, they just feel "nice" and I mostly feel behind on the damage curve. Once I have two or three major items then yeah Pharaoh is disruptive as poo poo but it's the midgame I'm having issues with - which is troubling since Pharaoh is supposed to be king of the midgame.

From my experience, I never really put out that much damage as Pharaoh. I'd usually build chalice/steams/hotbl/shamans/barbed (varying depending on enemy team comp), while conducting a ganking reign of terror on the enemy team. It's surprising how much pubs will follow you around ganking if you set them up for a few kills early They'll literally follow you into the enemy pool. Meanwhile, the enemy (at the level I played at, so bads) becomes so afraid of you, even though you do gently caress-all damage, that as soon as you show up they start hauling rear end, even if they could probably win the fight, or if they do try to kill you, you're generally tanky enough to shrug it off. I can't count the number of times I'd see an enemy in their jungle from the river, ult in, leaving my pubs to run around to me, taking around 10 seconds, so I'm alone in the middle of the enemy team. Generally, two or three run immediately, and the other two try to take me on, then I lead them on a merry chase into the middle of my team.

I'm ignorant of exactly how his ult functions. Do BOTH halves have to channel to merge, or only one has to channel, or can ONLY one channel (i.e. only fire or only ice has the merge ability)? I ask because right now, against bad geminis, it's easy to lock down fire or ice and kill them because they're bad.

The only really OP tactic I can see is having one half run away and channel to merge to save the half that's about to die, but I don't fully understand where he reappears after a merge or if it's even possible to do that split-and-merge tactic.

Otherwise yeah, I get that farming a jungle and a lane at one time is crazy, but that means you aren't warding the jungle of an enemy Gemini.

The wolves have two abilities. One is a channel that moves the casting wolf to the other's location, the other merges them (not channeled if I recall), but has a very short cast range.

Her grapple used to stun through magic immunity, her passive did more damage per stack, and her ult's duration (and cooldown/damage taken/received?) All used to be much better.

I see people in this thread saying that picking Magebane is how you raise your PSR beacuse you'll just get loads of kills and win every game but it never works out for me.

a. He has a blink on a 6 second cooldown, and one of the highest base movespeeds in the game, if I recall correctly. You don't run away from that.

I don't really understand this change to Valk - what could she do before that she can't do now? I read "disjoint ults" but which ults and how exactly?

I'm guessing it's something like Leaping when a Pyro tries to ult, so you dodge the ult, and now you'll still get hit - but isn't that intended, since Midas and probably some other heroes can dodge it with similar movement abilities?

I'm not saying it shouldn't have been changed, just curious on the exact mechanics and mindset and all.

No, that's fine (though you can't disjoint pyro ult), the issue was that she could leap away from channeled disables after they'd already been applied, burning the cooldown and mana with no cost other than leap going on cooldown. And this was as easy as mashing the hotkey as soon as you got hooked. (Reason being leap binds you to a projectile, which then does the actual move, though you're still targetable. So you get stunned, but your model still follows the projectile, pulling you out of range of the ult and canceling the channel)

Regarding Pyro (and Witch Slayer, if memory serves), they can't be disjointed, but a few spells, such as Midas' blink, give a brief moment of invulnerability, and if the ult his during that moment, the damage is wasted. Madman's barrel roll and Repulsor's ult are other examples.

Don't do this. You shouldn't "main" a few heroes like you would in LoL, you really want to be learning them all, especially considering that you have a legacy account, and therefore access to all of the released heroes. If you want my advice (you probably shouldn't), queue into AR and go to town learning whoever you get. (If AR queue times are too long, do SD, and pick whoever you've never played/played the least.) Bonus of having effectively no smurfs, because F2P accounts don't get access to those queues until they've played a decent amount.

Doesn't it say on the tooltip now? I recall that being a previous change.

You want to stun your target with Stalagmites, then toss him immediately after you cast the stun. Chucked targets take double damage from Stalagmites. The best way to do this is with a Portal Key, however some players use Assassin's Shroud to accomplish this.

You can still combo targets with a Nullstone by targeting yourself with Chuck - it'll grab the nearest unit to you, which hopefully should be your target.

You may not always want to combo people with Pebbles - sometimes you'll want to stun them, then toss them towards your team so they can reliably finish them off instead of trying to squeeze out an extra 300 damage.

Better yet, chuck first, then stun where they land.
