I wonder if any posters are still around with that tag? that thread where some goon dragged a printer a couple of miles to help some girl out only to get alpha'd by another dude. Yea dude went on a murdering killing rampage a few months later. I can't remember his username

darkestofpiggers posted:bigpeeler was a human being. His paint threads had some funny parts to them. Old poo poo I would kinda like to see again for nostalgia purposes are the signature army images. People used to have... concepts or people or other random things as "army" sig pics. So there was a "Velociraptors Doing Long Division Army" with a picture of Allen Grant looking confused as a raptor does math because it's super smart. Or the "Alyson Hannigan Is loving Hot Army", with appropriate pictures of that girl from American Pie. People would use one that they liked and put it as their signature and that was a thing.

I miss E/N threads in GBS. That's where a lot of the good old mockery and humor in SA came from. The day the EN threads went to their own subforum, SA changed...maaaaaannnnn. EDIT: Helldump was fun until it got out of control.

A friend of mine introduced me to SA back in 2001. He's actually a pretty big ur-goon type, but he's never registered here, and neither did I, for five years. I used to come for the game reviews and Photoshop days, but I never considered joining the forums. Another friend, who is a goon, kept telling me the forums were great and about the "there's a front page?!?!" thing but I just kinda brushed it off. It's true though, since I've registered I hardly ever look at the front page anymore. I remember really liking Bigpeeler's zoo stories and being shocked that he had gone insane and been permabanned. I also remember reading a thread another person I know in real life had posted that was like "Ask me about being a dominatrix" or some such, but it was full of lies and the furthest he had ever come was getting a girl on a table that was on the dance floor of a local goth club, hitting her with the scourge once, and then visibly blowing his load in front of the crowd.

I remember when someone "made" a Firebird extension (this was soon after the SA firebird extension was made, real basic), and it promised all kinds of great features such as being able to quickly post "lurk more" with the press of the button, and highlights the name of posters you put on your troll list. Then all it did was was flood your screen with images of the elf_pr0n nudes which were floating around then.quote:Edit: Remember that goon whose name I've forgotten that would post stories that were kinda believable in the beginning but would descend into ridiculousness?

Put me off the forums for years.

I remember laughing so hard at Type-R Photoshop Friday, JeffK, poo poo like the Icy Hot Stuntaz, Sig armies and Image Macros. I don't remember there being as much goon-on-goon aggression as there is now. Now it seems as soon as something is funny there's a rush to get people to stop doing it in the name of not "running it into the ground" Running poo poo into the ground used to be par for the course round these parts. And the Anime forum used to be...well whatever. I'm not sure if The Pizza Matrix or the JudoHobo would be funny to goons today, but back then it was the funniest poo poo ever.

Since I've been here a while I've noticed a few things have changed overall on SA. - People were more 'conservative' in terms of being callous or dismissive of poo poo that happens to others. You have to remember that this was the tail end of the 90's when everyone had a job or was in school. Things are a little different for most. - The forums were more accepting of bizarre posts or worthless crap as a post. While I do kind of miss the days where you could post something and not have to craft everything you say in order to not get probated, I also prefer the higher content to noise ratio. - The humor was more freewheeling and spontaneous. Well, I just think that the median age of the posters on the forums has gotten older. Hell, I was here when I was 20, and I'm 32 now. I am a totally different person now than I was then and I'm sure that goes for most everyone here.

It was kind of nice when the forums had so few posters that the most mundane threads got a good amount of attention. The "what is this weird thing I found in my house" or "this dumb thing happened to me" lead to pretty amusing threads. That and forum grudges.

Something like that. Pele. I think her biggest moments involved making out with another girl goon at one of Lowtax's goon meets, followed by the time she went to visit not-girl goon Oddjob, who proposed to her at the airport (and the first time actually meeting her) and proceeded to post a thread about it. That thread was glorious if only for the first page or two where people posted "Congratulations!" without knowing the whole story mixed with posts consisting solely of "hahahahahaha" by people who did.
