I want to know why he was stabbing the tire. Was he being a dick, or was he attempting to do some legit (and/or inept) work around the tire and it blew?

This has a direct bearing on whether I can point and laugh or not.

You can laugh. Apparently he was trying to extort protection money from the business owner and them when he didn't get the money he went out and did that.

I dunno, it looks an awful lot like his right forearm got absolutely hosed by compound fractures. I'm seeing some weird bendy movements when it hits the ground. Could just be a weird angle or something, I guess.

Gif gurus, I was messing around with some of the tutorials in the first part of this thread to finally make some movie gifs. The problem is all my movies are in MKV format, and it seems really hard to find a program to trim them down to just the scene I want to gif, and convert them to something Photoshop or GIMP can use. Any recommendations? (Realize this is more of a movie processing question than a gif question but figured I'd ask - even if I use Handbrake to convert to MP4, I don't want to import a 2 hour movie to GIF a 2 second segment of it.)

Play the movie, and screen-cap the part you want I guess.

Play the movie in VLC, reduce the playback speed to half or 33%, play through the part you want to gif while holding down the screenshot key, find your screenshot folder and stick all the frames you captured into Photoshop as separate layers, then use the 'Make animation from layers' option in the animation menu.

VLC will export segments of a movie for you into formats that Photoshop can read.

Partial Extract is what you want. Make sure you check the radio button thing.

The rest is pretty easy. (Choose Mpeg 4 or whatever you like and save)

Man I wish the Windows version of VLC had that, it'd make junk a lot easier than what I currently do: Use FRAPS to record the scene I want from VLC then convert it to MPEG 1 for Photoshop.

Edit: VVV After hunting around a bit I found it. It's just laid out differently for some reason.

Try updating VLC? Afaik VLC doesn't have a built-in update feature so you might be running an obsolete copy
