Here's the fix: You need to go to chrome://flags/#enhanced-bookmarks-experiment and set it to disabled. That will give you back the old bookmarks manager and return the new extension to your extensions list. After you set the it to disabled you have to press the "Relaunch Now" button to apply the effects. The bookmarks button won't go away, but you can just move that into the Other Bookmarks folder to get it off you toolbar."
