Well I guess that shows me on Marie. Then again I would check to see how I would do against her now but I haven't touched the game in weeks. Guess the thought of the patch threw me into the "Nah it can totally wait until it comes" mindset on practicing.

Skullgirls tournament at EVO was really hype, met some cool people while cheering my brother on. He placed 6th, Jmcrofts beat him in top 8 winners and ended up getting 3rd which was great. Render did an amazing job running the tournament. I might even try to get in on this game once the patch hits.

Painwheel cr.mp is kind of a ghetto cerecopter. Parasoul's MP tear shot and the bike soldier are really excellent assists for filia in general as well. E: Oh yeah something else I've been messing with is Valentine normal throw assist. Lets you do some cool mixups and gets you whatever you want if it hits. It is techable though.

This is a fantastic video and if you did them for other characters you'd be my best friend for all time. On an unrelated note, I'm having trouble practicing characters as a team, since I get so used to the button ommands for one character that I can't get out of that mindset for another. For example, I've been practicing painwheel a lot, so now whenever I'm finishing a combo with another character, I find myself doing a backwards fireball-hard kick like I'm going to fly away. This, of course, is idiotic, since none of the other characters can fly. Do any of you more seasoned fighting game vets have advice on how to get good at individual characters without mixing up their various techniques?

Jmcrofts posted:Hey guys I made a video :3 some basic and effective Filia and Cerebella combos, mixups, and setups. I got a question about the section on resets with Cerebella. You mention if you think they're going to jump, you can anti air grab. Could you also do c.LK? I do this with Double a lot if I reset someone and I think they're going to jump. It catches them in the prejump frames where they can't block. Just seems like a safer option than anti air grab, cause if you whiff that grab you probably get comboed.

That kind of works, but in the situation I showed in the video (2 s.lps then command throw) I'm pretty sure you're not at enough frame advantage of the s.lp to get a cr.lk out before they can jump, and cerebella can't chain lp into lk on the ground. You could do something like launch, mash lp, land then either command throw or slight pause and then cr.lk.

In fact, its actually getting buffed in the patch since sometimes Lenny doesn't come out if you DHC too fast but they're fixing that and also making him do another 800 damage or so.

GDO is an amazing assist overall thanks to the projectile stunt double glitch (it's the easiest assist with which to perform it) and a few other cool properties. You can also bully people with it, call Peacock to make blockstrings safe, pushblock people into it (!!!), and if you play Fortune, Double, or Painwheel you can superjump to make George incredibly hard to block and still combo out of it (with optional crossups the whole time). It's one of the best assists in the game.

The problem there is the second option loses clean to stand tech (which is something everybody looks to do when they get regrounded like that.) You could try chaining the s.lp in the original reset into cr.mk (I'm assuming this hits low but I don't play Cere) or cr.hk.

Nah if you do it fast enough you'll stuff throw startup. No one in their right minds tries to tech throws against Cerebella anyway.

Dias posted:I love it for covering approaches, not so much for straight-out mixups because the lockdown isn't that great. But tell me more about that glitch, I never heard of it - music might have made me procrastinate on my fighting game practice lately. Certain assists (mainly projectiles) are limited in their usage via onscreen aspects. For example, and you'd never actually do this, Egret Call puts a dude onscreen and Parasoul can't do it again until the dude leaves the screen. If you assign this as an assist to Parasoul, call the assist once, and then attempt to call the assist again before the soldier peaces out, then Parasoul will come on the screen, taunt, and leave as if you took damage or whiffed a throw (or she simply won't come out, I don't remember). So, supposing you made it through that mess of commas, it's pretty obvious that Peacock can only have 1 of each George out at a time. If GDO is chilling (as he tends to do for minutes on end) then Peacock will be an empty assist call. If you choose to stunt double (Alpha/Crossover Counter) into Peacock while George is doing said chilling, the Stunt Double will be successful but Peacock will do nothing after the 10 invincible tag-in frames. It's basically X-Factor Guard Cancel at that point. This is one of a few glitches not getting patched out of the game on purpose.

Alright this has been bugging me for a while now. Back at UFGT8 I met a Fortune/Peacock player, I think his name was Dan. He didn't actually enter the tournament, he was just there for casuals. Anyways he had some sick poo poo with Peacock. Before he left he said he'd show me those setups later that weekend, but I never saw him again, and now I can't remember what the hell he was doing. Basically there was some reset he was doing with Peacock, or maybe it wasn't even a reset, it was just a thing he'd do to start a combo, see this is how little I remember about it, anyways he had some sort of cross over with j.MK. I haven't been able to replicate this in training mode; when I jump over the opponent, either the j.MK doesn't cross up or it misses them entirely. I think there's some sort of trick to it but I really can't remember anything about this setup except that it involved j.MK somehow and it was really hard to block correctly. Anyone have any idea what I'm talking about? I would be kind of surprised if anyone did but I have to ask.

Gamers Gate said it was July, and they had a preorder for $15 with a steam key provided, but July's almost over, so I'unno. We'll hopefully see it on steam as a preorder before it comes out, but at the same time that means that it's still not even at the preorder stage, so I hope it's not too far away

I was at a SCV/MVC3 tournament in Tokyo this past Sunday and afterward a guy from Reverge came toting Mike Z's PS3 and everyone got to play on the new patch. I didn't play, but it looks fun and there sure is a lot going on on-screen. I'm totally new to the game, and since I am also a new PS3 user I looked stuff up and found that there's no Japanese release yet. I read the Japanese website, which states they're looking for a publisher, etc. The guy from Reverge was confident they'd find one. I could pop on over to the NA store and buy it, but it would be cool if I could support SG from over here by buying it on the JP store. Is there any more updated information or how are things looking, prospectively?

They got a few offers during EVO. Basically in Japan they want to release on Arcade/PS3/360 without having to juggle publishers, so they need to do a bit of negotiating. Beats me why Konami never offered...

That's right; that reminds me, the guy said that they wanted to do an Arcade release too, but that's been difficult, and something about how PSN/XBLA requires publishers to have 3 games under their belt before they can do whatever so that's why they went with Konami... it all sounds like a lot of headache.
