First off, if any of you like Hong Kong action films or action films in general, you need to check out the movie Yoo Jae Suk was gushing over. A Better Tomorrow and A Better Tomorrow 2 are some of the best movies ever in the Hong Kong action genre. ABT is considered one of the films that spawned the genre and I believe that was the film that made John Woo and Chow Yun Fat a household name in China. The movie and it's sequel are very 80's and very . I saw these movies years before I even heard of Running Man and I have as much love for these two movies as YJS does. They really are awesome.

A scholar and a gentleman

Leslie Cheung - A Better Tomorrow 2

Listen to the man.
If you ever need to watch an action movie: go for ABT 2, it's the gold standard of action movies.

What the heck, you know what? Just watch every HK action movie from 70-80s, they're all gold standards.

What are some 70's -80's Chinese Movies? Infernal Affairs? Once upon a time in China?

Old school HK's movies tends to be gritty and nihilistic, not like lovely postmodern action movies we get nowadays (i.e. Live Free or Die Hard).

Try some Ringo Lam's movies like "City on Fire" (1987), "Full Contact" (1992); Patrick Yam "My Heart is The Eternal Rose" (1989) and John Woo's like "The Killer" (1989).

For recent movies - 90s - you can't go wrong with Johnnie To movies: "A hero never dies", "Running out of time" , "The mission" and every other action movie made by Milkyway productions are very good.
Soi Cheang ("Dog bite dog"), Wilson Yip ("Bullets Over Summer") and Wai Ka-Fai ("Too Many Ways to be No. 1"= are also good directors.

Last but not the least: Wong Kar Wai ("Hong Kong Express" and "In the mood for love") and Jiang Wen ("Devils on the Doorstep", "The sun also rises" and "Let the Bullets Fly"). They don't make action movies but... yeah, they're something for sure.

I've stopped watching at the 60th episode and ep 58 is my favourite of them all mostly because of Cha Tae-Hyun: the man's a effin' comedy beast

and

but above all

Nice episode!

Gwangsoo and Suk Jin looked really comfortable with each other in this episode.
Suk Jin always plays the serious role (bungie jumping? no thanks) but in this episode I saw some hearty laughs.

And then this

Watching Family Outing before Running Man should be mandatory, even just to witness a very sheepish Kim Jong Kook.
In one of his first episode Kookie is so uncomfortable that can't even manage to stop Hyori from dressing him like a woman. Lipstick included.

Family Outing is definitely on par with Invincibly Youth season 1. And as IY, its season 2 sucked rear end.
Daesung, Yejin, Sooro and Chunee made an appearance, only Jong Shin is missing.

Couldn't even tear Suk Jin's tag, never change Chunhee

Gwangavatar and Chunderella, brothers separated at birth.

The Family Outing flashbacks brought up so many memories, mostly involving Kim Sooro shouting at him.

Good god Suk-Jin couldn't even win this one, I guess he's really doomed.

And the Hao Chao's segments were adorable.

Yoo JaeSuk: Why don't you take off this suit, It must be hot in there!
Hao Chao: *after drinking fresh water* ~Aaaaaaaaaaaaah~

Lee Da-Hae was a nice surprise, especially in the last of part of episode 82, and JaeSuk too: "Go away, nobody will believe me now!".
But, as usual, Gary takes the crown. I think I lost a lung when his wish was simple water: "just give me 1 million won worth of spring water. My house has no water".

Kim Jong Kook reveals the embarrassment he’s faced due to his small eyes.

AllKpop posted:

Singer Kim Jong Kook shared a story about a time he was humiliated because of his small eyes.

On SBS E! ‘TV Cultwo Show‘ a woman caller called in and said, “I have a son in elementary school and whenever he watches SBS’s ‘Running Man‘ he thinks Kim Jong Kook is running around with his eyes closed,” embarrassing the mosquito voiced singer.

But Kim Jong Kook was not flustered and revealed an instance that he had faced a bit of humiliation due to his eyes. “One time I was on an airplane and got in a comfortable position and was watching the screen. But because of my eyes, the flight attendant must have thought that I was asleep because she walked by and turned off my screen. I was a little surprised but I thought she might feel embarrassed about it [if she knew] so I just pretended to be sleeping,” he revealed.

I don't know if recent episodes addressed the problem because I'm watching them as they are posted in the thread but the staging is becoming a bit annoying. I wish they could switch back to the old format in which they would basically run for hours and that's it.

The members are comfortable enough with each other to ensure laughs without such heavy scripting: I remember one of the old episodes in which they did a final showdown with water guns and Jae Suk "borrowing" one of the villager car to escape from KJK and the others (or was it Family Outing?), this is the kind of thing the recent episodes are lacking.

On a side note, since we're dealing with first loves some kind soul could give an explanation "for dummies" about KJKook and Yoon Eun Hye? It was brought back in the previous episodes and Kookie seemed genuinely pissed at Yoo Yuk.

Here is that whole segment where the "Of Course" thing comes from

e: For context the game they are playing is two people "battle" by saying something to the other person and if the other person can't start their response with 'Of Course' they lose.

I remember having watched that segment but what I don't understand is why KJK always gets so pissed when this gets mentioned.

I have two hypothesis:
- relationships and idols are a touchy subject and he doesn't want to get exposed (e.g. IU and the shirtless dude)
- KJK can't stand jokes (e.g. Gwang Soo teared his tag in one of the last episodes and three episodes later he's still grumpy about that)

Foreign guests (I'm assuming Kang is not korean) have always proven to be entertaining: Daniel Henney in Family Outing was also one of the best guest in the whole show.

The next episode with seasoned actors looks promising, the multi-talented and romantic elders were in some other show and they were funny as heck.
