Just got through with episode 8. The hide and seek wasn't as epic as in 7, but it had its moments. Park Jun Gyu giving poo poo to Jong Kook for treating him like Gary and HaHa was pretty funny. Is the whole 'respect your elders' thing really pushed to that insane degree in Korea? They also joke about Gary yelling "Hey you!" to YJS during the game. It's interesting noting cultural differences like that. Also, the Gary/Ji Hyo moment at the beginning was hilariously awkward.

I loved her clinging to Jong-kook and being his sidekick, and I loved him ultimately taking responsibility of her. They made such an awesome pair, and she was absolutely hilarious at everything she did. Yeah, at first it seemed like she was going to get annoying pretty quickly, but the two of them actually made it very entertaining. Was that the episode before Jong Kook had the back surgery (or whatever it was)? I just finished episode 11 and it seems obvious he isn't at 100% still, and I seem to remember him mentioning during that episode that he was already a bit off his game. He definitely isn't running very much.

Someone with good gif skills needs to make an animated gif of the pirate gang 'transformation' from episode 18. drat thing cracks me up every time I see it. Another question regarding episode 18. Right after it shows the time remaining as about 23:54 in the hide and seek segment, it does a helicopter shot of Ji Hyo right before HaHa starts taunting her over the ship's loudspeakers. What is the music playing in the background? I know its from a movie soundtrack, but I can't quite remember which. EDIT: It's one of the Pirates sequels, isn't it? EDIT 2: It is. Pirates 3. Episode 27 was fantastic. Everything one of the games was top notch, especially the drawing game. The part with them drawing Gary was fantastic, and Ji Hyo and Jong Kook's reaction to HaHa's drawing had me cracking up. I do have a question for those of you further ahead in the episodes. Does the format ever change back to having the hide and seek as the main event of the show? While episode 27 was pretty good, overall I'm not a fan of them moving the hide and seek portion to the start of the show as a way for them to find the guests. The show feels right when it builds to that segment, and unless the other games are exceptionally good, the show overall loses something with the front loaded format.

The only time I've been annoyed a bit by the cheating was during the (mid-30's episodes spoiler incoming) two-parter in the mid 30's at the camping ground. The two teams are having a cook off and it's obvious that the Jae Suk team's chicken stew tastes completely bland early on. To add to that they don't have proper seasoning because they screwed up during the shopping segment. What they do have is some broth (or what I think was broth) that Jae Suk bought that they weren't supposed to use. Of course, they sneak it in and instantly their stew tastes fantastic and they end up dominating the other team. It was just a lovely ending to what had been a pretty good contest. I'll admit, though, that that specific two-parter was intensely boring once the "Ji Hyo chooses her team" segment was over. It really didn't have the content to properly fill two episodes, and trimming the opening segment really wasn't an option.

I'm done with ep 37 and while it was a slow go initially, the past few eps have been good. There was a good stretch of eps that weren't as amazing as the 1st 20 or so. I'm just a few episodes ahead of you right now, and things do change up a bit in the next few, but it's still mostly them vs. the guests. I think the reason I like the old 'team vs team hide and seek' segments is that those included most of the truly character defining moments for the Running Man crew (outside of Suk Jin, Gary, and Gwang Soo, who tend to be more prominent in the non-chase events). Not to mention Joong Ki hasn't done poo poo since they changed format. Poor guy gets eliminated within minutes almost every time without being able to do anything about it. On a sidenote, Jong Kook referring to the production girl as Helmet in episode 40 cracked me up. I was thinking exactly the same thing. Jae Suk always chases him a bit when he sees him running around in that long hair wig, so I'm guessing that while there might have been a bit of luck involved the producers probably knew they could lead Jae Suk right where they wanted him.

Episode 43 is one of the best all around episodes I've seen in a while. It has a nice, different concept that plays out in an extremely entertaining way. One of the best things to come out of this episode is the fact that the ringer on Jong Kook's cell phone is the "Sparta!" soundclip, which is hilarious.

Episode 48 musings: I could see Song Ji-Hyo's victory coming as soon as she convinced them that there was only a single insole. That was a brilliant move on her part. Jong Kook having no clues but still being there in the end was amusing, but holy poo poo did Haha, Suk Jin, and Gary just up and disappear. Sure, Gary was around for a bit with Ji Hyo, but Haha and Suk Jin must have just said 'gently caress it' and took a nap (which, interestingly enough, Gary was pretty much doing when Ji Hyo ran across him on the steps.) While it had a neat ending, the challenge was poorly designed in that it made it really easy for members to be completely excluded from the show. The only reason Jong Kook was even there in the end is because the guy hates to lose and absolutely never quits. After the early efforts with the backpacks, it became obvious that Haha, Suk Jin, and Gary were probably just tired of the game. EDIT: Forgot about Suk Jin. EDIT 2: And one more thought...The spinning then running to a circle game cracked me up. I used to love that game when I was younger, and holy hell is it hard to run in a straight line after spinning like that. If you haven't ever tried it you won't get the full effect of that bit, so you should immediately go outside and try it. Prepare to fail. As far as the pricing of this concert goes, I noticed it was posted that they are comparing the price to other idol acts. Wasn't this show going to have like 7 different acts performing? It seemed almost like a small festival rather than a normal concert. Also, gently caress these lovely lovely Korean fans. I thought 129 was pretty fantastic and agree with many that Yonghwa should be considered for a spot if they ever need to fill one. The guy is fun to watch play the games and obviously gets along really well with the cast. They need him on more when it is just him and another guest instead of multiple guests all vying for air time. I thought the best moment was when the last two idols found the room with KJK, Ji Hyo and Haha. Even though they were the chasing team, it was an "ohhhhhh poo poo" moment for them. The ending worked out nicely. The hockey was really entertaining. Ji Hyo being unable to walk and KJK checking the poo poo outta everyone was endlessly amusing. And on another note, am I the only one who didn't think Park Ji Sung was all that spectacular as a guest? The episodes were good, but I don't remember him being much more than an average guest when compared to many other, more memorable guests.

135: Jackie Chan was a pretty good sport considering the language barrier, and was decently entertaining. I found two non-Jackie moments to be the best of the episode, though. The first was when Kwangsoo slid his cap off the table in the first game, and KJK immediately starts humming St. Agnes and the Burning Train with the others quickly joining in. That cracked me up. The second was the back and forth between the Monday Couple during the third game. Honestly, their relationship (or lack there of) will never stop amusing me.

Last year at this time they were still kind of avoiding it because of the whole Ji Hyo being in a relationship thing, but it has really shown up a lot lately. She needs to dump the suit and get with Gary already. The water trivia game was hilarious, and Noh Sa Yeon was a great guest as always. That lady is a great sport and obviously has a really good time being on the show.
