I think Class A is generally considered weaker than Class B, but other than that there's no consistency due to the "there is no canon" thing. And I've seen explicit exceptions to that (like instructions to administer Class A if Class B fails or something).

e: found this page, where they disagree over whether Class A is stronger than Class B, weaker than Class B, or just qualitatively different (and then disagree on how it's different). There doesn't seem to be any consensus.

The only consistent theme seems to be that omega class is the strongest and leaves the subject with brain damage.

Here is a horrible SCP. It comes with three horrible exploration logs. The best one (for a certain value of "best") is Exploration Log II.

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-1988 is to be contained inside SCP-1988-H (the house) it was found in. SCP-1988-H should be hidden and access to it blocked to unauthorized individuals. The need to remove SCP-1988 from its current location isn't urgent. Otherwise no security on the premises is needed. SCP-1988 is not to be removed from the house under any circumstances (See Expedition 1988-I). In case a breach might happen the basement of the house is to always be closed and covered up.

Observation of the use of SCP-1988 although requires certain rules to be met:

#1 � Observation of an Expedition is to be done behind a screen that is filming the observation screen (See Expedition 1988-II).
#2 � Filming of an Expedition is to be done with modern cameras (See Expeditions 1988-I and 1988-II). Only audio can be recorded near SCP-1988.

Description: SCP-1988 is a VHS camera1 located inside SCP-1988-H � an old building (9x17x2,5 meters^3) in the █████████ swamp.

The house was discovered by The Foundation in ██/█/20██ after reports of people losing their memory in the █████████ swamp. The house has two rooms, one of which has been emptied and the other one containing an ordinary TV-set and VHS-player. The house also has a basement that contained a table (removed) and SCP-1988 (found placed on it). Removal of SCP-1988 from the house has proven futile (See Expedition 1988-I). Otherwise the house shows no signs of unexplained behavior and can be filled and emptied (except for SCP-1988) with just about anything.

SCP-1988 itself can�t be filmed or photographed (See Expedition 1988-I) only audio can be recorded (See Expeditions 1988-II � 1988-III). SCP-1988 contained a VHS-cassette that had been removed (See Expedition 1988-II) and can be replaced but the tapes content can't be viewed outside the house (See Expedition 1988-II). Although after the cassette is removed and placed in the VHS-player it shoves the viewer things that can�t be explained in most cases it shows the most important moments of the viewers life (See Expeditions 1988-II � 1988-III). During the viewing of the video the viewer can't leave the house (See Expedition 1988-III) and at the end of the tape the viewer loses consciousness(See Expedition 1988-II).

Afterwords SCP-1988 seems to manipulate them into �sleepwalking�. Making them put the cassette back inside SCP-1988, turn off the TV and VHS-player and than take it down into the basement. Than it lets them leave and makes them exit the swamp before they collapse and forget everything from the moment they saw the house (See Expeditions 1988-II and 1988-III).

Expedition Log 1988-I posted:

After initial infiltration by E-class staff as recon (over-viewed by Dr. ███) nothing but a house was found in the swamp. Entrance to the building was opened and not much was found in the building except for a lot of junk.

Since it seemed that there was no immediate threat experts were sent in to search the mess and record any findings. A camera was found in the basement that seemed to interfere with recording devices leaving it impossible to be filmed or photographed and since no one knew why it didn't work or what its exact functions were a professor was brought in.

Prof. ████████, a camera expert from ███████████ University was sent in. As per his request his own camera was used in the expedition (to be confiscated and emptied afterwords).

Prof. ████████ is a 42 year old caucasian male carrying an old recording camera. He is fitted with a headset to communicate with Dr. ███ in the observation room.

Upon entering the building he turns on his camera after which he is escorted by three (3) E-class personnel (E164,E947,E445) to the basement.

Prof. ████████: Is the escort really necessary, its not like I am going to run or get attacked by someone, since nothing is here other than the camera.
Dr. ███: We are not certain what is on the camera so they are there to see to it that you don't compromise its tape. Also the house is quite old and you might run into some problems going trough it.

Prof. ████████: Seems reaonable.

At the entrance to the basement E445 is left behind and E164 and E947 follow the professor to the basement.

Upon reaching the basement the doctors camera starts to film static.

Prof. ████████: [hitting the camera] Why now of all times you don't work?
Dr. ███: Is there a problem, professor.
Prof. ████████: My camera isn't working properly, but it has never let me down in any occasion. [his camera stops working as he nears SCP-1988] Well great it stopped working completely.
Dr. ███: Can you still see the camera?
Prof. ████████: Yes your camera is in front of me.
Dr. ███: Can you describe it?
Prof. ████████: [puts away his own camera and looks at SCP-1988] It looks like quite an old model, definitely a VHS Camcorder.
Dr. ███: Can you make out its model?
Prof. ████████: [picks up SCP-1988] It seems to be a General Electrics model CG 683, as in a high quality movie video system camera.
Dr. ███: Thank you, can you make any further assumptions?
Prof. ████████: No it is too dark in here, but I could look more into it outside or at my lab.
Dr. ███: We can't allow you to remove it from the premises, but you may take it outside.

After leaving the basement the professor is carrying the camera to the exit of the house. A few meters from the exit the professor faints. E164 and E947 grab him before he falls to the ground. E445 who was in front of the group grabs SCP-1988 before it hits the ground.

Dr. ███: What is going on? Are you okay professor?
E445: [leaning onto the professor talking to Dr. ███] He seems to have fainted.
Dr. ███: What happened?
E445: He collapsed for no reason.
Dr. ███: What!? How?
E445: I don't know it just happened. It seems he isn't going to be recovering soon.
Dr. ███: Okay, take him outside and lay him down somewhere so that he will recover quickly.
E445: Shall I take the camera outside as well?
Dr. ███: Yes,do so!

E445 takes SCP-1988 while E164 takes the professor onto his shoulder and E947 moves to the front of the group. Suddenly after taking one step towards the exit E445 faints as well. A laud smash is heard.

Dr. ███: What now!? Is anyone hurt?
E947: E445 seems to have fainted as well.
Dr. ███: What is going on? Is the camera okay?
E947: It is okay, I think it is the cause of this.
Dr. ███: You might be right. Leave it there and get E445 laying down as well.
E947: Yes, doctor.

E947 picks up E445 and follows E164 out of the house. E445 and the professor are laid down on two sheets and then E947 and E164 start waiting for them to come around. After about 25 seconds E445 stands up. E164 and E947 approach him.

E164: [speaking to Dr. ███ trough his radio.] E445 seems to have awoken.
Dr. ███: Can he speak?
E164: Doc,� [Confused] he seems to be still sleeping.
Dr. ███: Than how did he get up?
E164: He is sleepwalking.
Dr. ███: Are you certain?
E164: Yes, definitely. His eyes are closed.
Dr. ███: Can you wake him?
E164: I don't think that is a good idea. I have heard that you shouldn't wake a sleepwalker.
Dr. ███: Well okay than. Report whatever he is doing.
E164: Well he seems to have started moving towards the house.
Dr. ███: Follow him and report!
E164: [after giving E947 instructions to watch over the professor and following E445 into the house] He has grabbed SCP-1988 and is moving into the basement.
E164: I think he is being controlled.
Dr. ███: Wake him than.
E164: [Loudly] HEY, E445, wake up.

A loud crash can be heard.

E164: Ouch! He showed me away.
Dr. ███: Are you okay?
E164: I grabbed and shook him by the shoulder and he grabbed my arm and showed me to the corner. I don't think he woke up though.
Dr. ███: Well, I guess there is nothing we can do but see what happens.

At the basement.

E164: He has placed the camera on its original place on the floor.
Dr. ███: Interesting. Proceed!
E164: He is leaving the house. [outside, seeing that the professor has stood up. Addressing E947] What happened?
E947: He seems to show the same signs as E445.
E164: [Confused] What is going on here?
Dr. ███: E947 follow him and E164 to the same with E445!
E164: They seem to be heading towards the same direction.
Dr. ███: Than go after them and report.

After about an hours worth of walking, at the edge of the swamp.

E164: They seem to have stopped.

The professor and E445 collapse.

E164: [Surprised] Oh,� they seem to have fallen.
Dr. ███: Are they okay?
E164: They are getting up.
Dr. ███:[Confused] Already!?
E445: [Rubbing his head. Confused] Where am I?

The professor does the same.

E164: We were trying to get out of the house when you collapsed.
E445: [looking at E164 weirdly] We already went in there?
E164: Yes and we recovered the info we needed.
E445: [Starts to get frustrated] Well, I don't recall ever even seeing the house.
E164: Well what do you remember?
E445: My last memory is of us entering the swamp to go to the house and than I woke up over here.
E164: Well we all visited the house and did what we came here to do.
Prof. ████████: It seems a bit odd, but I only remember that too.
Dr. ███: [through radio only to E164 and E947] Act as if he had fallen and had a short term memory loss so that he won�t get suspicious and we won�t have to wipe his memory again. [to E445] Play along.
E164: [to the professor] You two� fell through the floor of the house and we had to carry you here to wait for transport. You hit your head pretty hard, a minor memory loss is probably usual.
Prof. ████████: [Not very certain] Okay, I guess that is a possibility.
E445: I think I recall something like that. At least I am certain I got hurt.
Prof. ████████: Well fine then, but is my camera okay?
E164: [after remembering that the professor had left it at the basement so that he could carry SCP-1988 and later retrieve it] It� fell under the rubble as the collapse happened.
Prof. ████████: [Disappointed] I really liked that camera. [Hopeful] Could you send it to me once you find it?
Dr. ███: We will.
Prof. ████████: [Relieved] Thank you.

After that Prof.████████ and E445 were picked up by a car and transported to a hospital where the doctors were told to tell him that he had suffered a nasty fall and that E445 (John Good to the professor) was doing fine and has already left the hospital. While E445's memory was checked at the foundation and it was discovered that he had received a minor but precise shock from his hand to his brain's short term memory area and burning out his recent memory.

The camera was returned to the doctor with a letter which told that the cameras tape had gotten damaged in the collapse and was irretrievable.

Expedition Log 1988-II posted:

A D-class personnel was sent to the house, since SCP-1988 hadn't been moved to an SCP-facility. Agent ██████ was sent with him along with a tape.

D-9856 is a 27 year old male with an average build and tall body. D-9856 is carrying a digital camera and is wearing a headset with a microphone to communicate with Dr. ███ at the observation room.

After an hour of walking D-9856 and Agent ██████ reach the house.

D-9856: [seeing the house] Is this it?
Dr. ███: Yes, turn on your camera and enter through the front door and go to the basement.

Agent ██████ stays outside and guards the premises. D-9856 enters the building and reaches the entrance to the basement the digital camera starts to film static.

D-9856: [Confused] Is this thing broken?
Dr. ███: No that was an expected response. There are things in the house that we are testing on to see how they influence a cameras feed.
D-9856: [A bit angry] That is it!? Is this the reason you brought me here?
Dr. ███: No, but we would like to know if the camera is still working.

D-9856 looks at the display on the camera.

D-9856: Well it is still recording but it seems to be only receiving sound but no video.
Dr. ███: Thank you proceed without it.

D-9856 puts the camera on the floor and goes into the basement. He looks around.

D-9856: This place looks empty and cleared out.
Dr. ███: Yes, we had removed everything non-important.
D-9856: So what to I do here?
Dr. ███: You are going to watch what is recorded on the tape in the camera on the floor.
D-9856: Seems easy enough.

D-9856 picks up SCP-1988 and removes the VHS-cassette and places it into the VHS-player. After turning on the TV shows static.

D-9856: There is nothing on it.
Dr. ███: Keep watching and we will see.

After one (1) minute and thirty two (32) seconds the static stops.

D-9856: I think I see something.
Dr. ███: Can you describe what you see?
D-9856: It looks like a video inside of a hospital, it seems quite old.
Dr. ███: Since I can't see it could you describe it in more detail.
D-9856: Well it seems to be following a man into a ward. It looks like he is going to see his wife at the maternity ward.
Dr. ███: Okay. What else can you see?
D-9856: Well the man is quite young, about 24 or 25. [a door can be heard being opened from the video] He seems to be entering the room his wife is held. I can see his wi� [Screaming] Oh my god�that� that's my mother. What the hell. How did this end up here? I don't ever recall seeing this.
Dr. ███: Calm down. Can you make out who is filming them.
D-9856: [Slightly nauseated and scared] It doesn't seem to be anyone, the camera is being completely ignored. It is moving towards the foot of the bed and the man who seems to be my father is going to the side of the bed. I-I think that is me in my mothers arms.
Dr. ███: Are you certain that no one is filming them who they now of?
D-9856: Yes, but how? I can see that they are being filmed by someone who they don't know of while the person filming should be in the open.
Dr. ███: Weird, can you [the TV's static is heard through the radio] �now what?
D-9856: It just cut off from the point where it showed the bed.
Dr. ███: Well report when you see anything else.
D-9856: But how is this possible, what is going on?
Dr. ███: I don't know but we are here to find out, or rather you are.

D-9856: It seems to be moving about randomly and sometimes cutting to another location in the house but still pointing at me.
Dr. ███: Do you mean like a movie?
D-9856: That would be one way to put it. Did you have anything to do with this cause finding a random video of myself seems impossible?
Dr. ███: Even if I or the foundation did have a video of you we wouldn't definitely show it to you and it would be too much work just to freak you out.

D-9856: No, it is still showing me learning to walk.

The TV shows static again.

D-9856: It just cut off. [static stops] I see myself riding a bike.
Dr. ███: Any details
D-9856: It looks like my first bike ride.
Dr. ███: Well it looks to be showing the mayor moments of your life.
D-9856: [Surprised] That actually sounds interesting to watch.
Dr. ███: Report when and what else you see.

After about an hour and a half the video has shown every mayor moment of D-9856's life and the TV starts to show static again.

D-9856: I think that is it.
Dr. ███: So it seems that your entire life is shown on that VHS-cassette.
D-9856: I guess so. Now what?
Dr. ███: I think you should remove the tape and bring it in for further analysis.
D-9856: Okay

Just as D-9856 reaches for the VHS-player the static stops.

Dr. ███: Now what? I thought it cough up to your life right now
D-9856: Well it is showing a black screen right now.
Dr. ███: And nothing else?
D-9856: Wait I see something there seems to be light coming from the right upper corner, it looks like an entrance to a place the camera is filming in. [Confused and scared] But how?! That is�that's me going to the basement of this building.
Dr. ███: [Confused] You are seeing what?!
D-9856: [Screaming] Oh my god the camera, it-it looks like it is moving up and down like it is held by someone. [Screams, TV turns to static] It just flew across the basement like it was thrown by someone and it fell to the place I found it in.
Dr. ███: Calm down!
D-9856: I didn't hear anything when I was down there. How could it have fallen without making a sound?
Dr. ███: I don't know, maybe some mechanical machine moved it.
D-9856: I don't think any mechanical thing could do that.

Suddenly the observation rooms screen turns on showing D-9856 from behind looking to his right

Dr. ███: [Loudly] What?
D-9856: What is it?

D-9856 turns towards the TV in front of him and sees the same picture as the observation rooms screen shows to the doctor. He freezes out of fear.

Dr. ███: [Really confused] How is this happening?

Suddenly D-9856's double in the TV starts to turn showing his face which is turned into a skull with sharp teeth and then it jumps at the camera and the TV turns to static. At that exact moment D-9856 jolts and faints.

Dr. ███: D-9856 are you okay?

After a moment the TV shows a message �I see you.�. Then the observation room's screen turns to static. A few seconds later it displays a message: �I don't like to be filmed!�. The screen shuts down.

Dr. ███: [Confused] Well that was�interesting.

Soon it can be heard through the radio that D-9856 is moving. He turns off the TV, takes out the VHS-cassette and puts it back into SCP-1988, he then returns it to the basement and leaves.

Agent ██████ is still waiting outside and sees D-9856 sleepwalking.

Agent ██████: [to Dr. ███] I can see him, he seems to be sleepwalking.
Dr. ███: I thought as much. Could you replace the tape and then follow him to the edge of the swamp an call for transport!

Agent ██████ picks up SCP-1988 and replaces the tape from SCP-1988 and starts to leave the house.

Agent ██████: Are you sure this will work?
Dr. ███: It is worth a try.
Agent ██████: Fine, here I go.

Agent ██████ leaves the house and feels a slight shock in his hand.

Agent ██████: Ouch! The tape shocked me.
Dr. ███: Can you still move and take it with you?
Agent ██████: Yes, it was just a minor sting.

Agent ██████ ran after D-9856 and found him walking towards the edge of the swamp. After recovering at the edge of the swamp D-9856 couldn't remember anything that he had just experienced and it was discovered that what had happened to E445 (In Expedition 1988-I) happened to him as well.

Some time later Dr. ███ suffered a minor concussion when he had hit his head against his office wall. Security tapes showed that he had fallen asleep and then started to sleepwalk head-first into his office wall several times before collapsing. It was also noticed that he hit the wall precisely in the spot that was in-between where he had fallen asleep and where SCP-1988 was located.

The tape was found to be empty. Agent ██████ speculated that the minor shock he felt must have burnt the tapes content.

Expedition Log III posted:

Two (2) weeks after Dr. ███ recovery he himself insisted on another expedition. He wanted to try to find out what happens if you would send in two (2) people in at once and they watch the tape at the same time. Even tough no permanent damage was bestowed on Dr. ███ in Expedition 1988-II the observation room's security cameras were used to record the expedition so that (hopefully) SCP-1988's effects wouldn't effect the observer.

This time since Agent ██████ and E164 were familiar with what happens to people effected by SCP-1988 they were sent in to escort and monitor the D-class personnel.

D-3476 and D-3477 were sent in. They have no known relations and were brought in from separate prisons. D-3476 is a short, 32-year old male with an average appearance. D-3477 is a tall 24-year old black female with a normal build. Both of them were given a headset to communicate with Dr. ███, who is observing at the security station in the foundation looking at the observation rooms security footage, and a camera installed into it.

Agent ██████ and E164 see the house.

Agent ██████: [points at the house] Well there it is.
D-3476: [Exhausted] Finally!
E164: You two go in there, we will wait outside!
D-3476: But aren't you going to see over us so that we won't get away.
Agent ██████: There is only one exit from the place and we are directly in front of it.

At the entrance of the basement. Both of the cameras in the headsets are filming static without D-3476's and D-3477's knowledge.

D-3477: This place is creepy and it feels like it will collapse at any moment.
Dr. ███: We made sure it won't.
D-3476: So what are we here for.
Dr. ███: There is a camera in the basement. Could you pick it up and see what is on the tape inside it by looking at it through the TV.
D-3476: Seems easy enough.
D-3477: What is on the tape?
Dr. ███: We are not certain yet, but that is what you are there to find out.

D-3476 opens the camera and puts the VHS-cassette into the VHS-player. It shows static.

D-3476: Is it going to start soon or is this it?
Dr. ███: We believe it will start soon or at some point.

After three (3) minutes.

D-3476: Nothing is happening.
Dr. ███: Keep calm and keep watching.

Right after that the static stops.

D-3476: Oh wait, we see something.
D-3477: That looks like my high school building.
D-3476: I recognize it too, I was a janitor there.

D-3476: I looked very different back then, but now that I look at you I recall seeing you there once.

D-3477: So what we are seeing is actual footage of the suicide?
D-3476: I don't recall any cameras there.
Dr. ███: The camera films memories not actual footage.

D-3476: I think your right.
Dr. ███: What is going on?
D-3477: [Surprised] We are seeing the event through his eyes.

After a second the TV turns to static and a thump is heard.

D-3476: The TV showed him fall to the ground in first person and as he hit the ground the TV went to static and than she fainted.

D-3476 picks D-3477 up on his shoulder and starts walking to the exit.

A second later a bigger thump is heard.

After a moment of silence.

Dr. ███: [to Agent ██████] Agent ██████ could you go and check on them.

Agent ██████: They are both on the ground, unconscious.

At the edge of the swamp both D-3476 and D-3477 don't remember anything about their experience in the house or seeing their common memory. Assumptions are made that the tape shows common memories of people watching it. Since D-3476 tried to leave it was impossible to make assumptions that what happened on Expedition 1988-II would happen again.

At 1/1/2011 4:24 AM V540.T was at first transferred to standard issue KETER3 Containment Chamber Z-1977, which later proved grossly insufficient as V540.T had been able to breach reinforced containment within 2 minutes, and resulted in ███ casualties before halting and returning to standby on its own. at which point, its current lodging was constructed around it using automated means.This causes us to believe that V540.T has an extremely complex Pattern analysis/Reasoning system or A synthetic Brain/computing device integrated within it,and can either enact moral judging,or some manner of understanding towards it's environment,as it knows who to act (and not act) hostile towards.

V540.T at first, showed impossible cognitive knowledge in any combat related situation, able (and as tested later) to evade projectiles/object/sharpnel/explosives %100 percent of the time. Subject shows impossible agility,dexterity, and accuracy, able to strike any and every (up to 40 targets at once tested so far) target 100% of the time at once.V540.T is also able to strike targets as small as 0.003 micrometers in size limited only by the shape, aerodynamics, or size of it's(or it's form's) weaponry. V540.T does not attack hostile/experimental targets if they are not within a 5 meter radius of it. if the distance is larger,or all hostiles are incapacitated V540.T returns to his exact same pose and position as before commencing his attack(it is noted that like V540.T, V540.T's variants hav e a "fixed" position which they return to after being hostile.) . V540.T himself attacks using 200 small,fine blade like objects, which upon contact/shearing of material, create a perfect cut, that is even and leveled completely to staggering degrees, subjects on surveillance tapes before the restriction of V540.T clearly were confused when cut by V540.T,as the cuts seem clean to the degree that organs,tissue, and veins or valves remain connected until any movement occurs, at which point they slide away from the subject,and death occurs.It is noted that the heads of subjects who were decapitated remained so in the exact same facial expression before the cut occurred,(until blood drainage and decay were in effect) which indicates that they did not have the chance to feel any sensory pain/uncomfort further that confusion.

V540.T's reason for BETA9 classification is not only caused by being able to reproduce -itself-asexualy, it is noted, as will be seen by the logs bellow, that V540.T variants start out somewhat "weak" in comparison to itself, but they seem as concluded by R.T.G, to have some sort of "Shared information Cloud". As in each and every variant,it is noted that V540.T and all his existing variants, become aware of what they all experience at the same time, in other words, they are all connected mentally. V540.T seems to reproduce at set intervals of about 3 months. each instance of V540.T is twice as efficient and twice as intelligent as its former instance. Now, it is clear why they all share a network, V540.T enhances his variants each time he reproduces because not only does he learn from his former mistakes once an "offspring" is neutralized, but he also gains it's own knowledge. as such, It should be clear as to why V540.T poses a threat to humanity. R.T.G theorizes that the only reason V540.T does not seek humans/objects/creatures/ to engage with, is because he is in some manner of "standby and plan" mode, building a sort of "army" or perfecting his variants. In other words, creating his own species on earth, is presumed to be V540.T's aim.

Analysis: V54.T-A was shown to be much weaker than V540.T. he showed basic combat abilities but very low intelligence. Used hands to engage in combat, hands seem to have an ability to liquify organic substance, and works best on bone-like material. 0 casualties.

Analysis: V540.T-B's has shown not only increased awareness of it's surroundings, but increased intelligence. V540.T-B has the approximate mental capacity of a 3 year old human infant.it was also shown that V540.T-B has exhibited abnormal amounts of threshold for ballistic amunition, and was able to witstand aproximatley 53 rounds before staggering.
Notes: before death, V540.T-B imitated the sound of a crying child and thrashed around in what appeared to be a plea of mercy. ignored and neutralized.as before, V540.T has not shown any signs of grieving or sadness. his composed smile remains. eyes were open during the lifespan of V540.T-B. Well, to be completely fair, taking in the foundation's existing documentation as a whole, you kind of end up asking yourself this question regardless. You have a vengeful hostile parallel universe that tries to nuke us every few years, a self-help booklet that nearly took the world apart and stitched it back together, a girl that will [EXPUNGED] all of creation if you don't [REDACTED] her three times a week, an ancient barbaric civilization that keeps retroactively becoming less ancient and will ultimately reach known history and do a number on it, and those are just off the top of my head.

I think the problem is that all these things have different requirements, other than thick walls and armed guards outside the door, i can't think of any specific things that Keter objects have in common. Unless they are encountering the exact same thing all the time.
