HEY, WHAT'S HAPPENING?

Also my favorite proposal because it's such a simple premise. Physics works weirdly in this one place. Somebody in the comments said it best:

quote:

How much have we created by wrapping a wire in a loop and running electricity through it?

Now imagine there was only one (known) place on earth where you could twist wire that way.

Keep in mind, that's the point of the 001 proposals. In one fashion or another, they're supposed to explain the origin of the Foundation. That's why there are several; so that it's possible to write these potential origin stories without any of them ever reaching anything like a canon status.

Think of them as the SCP Foundation equivalent to Marvel What If? stories (or DC Elseworlds, if you prefer).
Yeah, but it also explains all of the SCPs (or half explains them). "Why?" is a big question for a lot of the SCPs, this explains them all.

I mean, it's a really good story, but it'd be a terrible "real" SCP-001. I like SCP-001's that explain the Foundation, but not ones that mess with the SCPs themselves.

What's the general opinion on the current SCP game? I know it's only in alpha, but it seems pretty promising, hell it's creepy already so I can only imagine how it will improve in the future.

It's possible to explain the origin of the Foundation in a way that expands the scope of the mystery or provides interesting alternative explanations. That -001 proposal doesn't do that; it sacrifices mystery in order to tell an interesting story, which is a valid direction to go but one that comes at a heavy cost.

It's a hell of a lot better than the Bible fanfic though.

Of course in universe the multiple 001 articles are also misdirection that could be fake to hide the real SCP-001. Or 001 might not exist. Or they're all real.

I don't even know where you mean. I'm so poo poo at handling anything remotely scary, that game is a nightmare. I just loaded it up to try and find where you meant but as soon as I got through the second door a blackish shape walked out of a doorway as I was escaping the 173 zone so I just backed up, shut the door and quit.

This is exactly what I would do in the event of an actual containment breach, except I don't think I'd wait that long to Glock myself.

The most ironic part is that as a part of the D Class personnel, this outbreak is actually your biggest chance at survival. You just have to go up against the collective horrors of the world and not lose your mind or kill yourself.

It's a room with a timed door. I press the door openy button, run in (while staring at SCP-173), the door closes (and I start blinking rapidly if I don't have a gas mask on). Then I'm in a room with two cameras, a lot of smoke, and two doors that don't open. Ever.

I've restarted several times, I get stuck there within a room or two every time.

I think 173 is a bit too powerful, and I think the idea of him being the focus of the game with the blink mechanic isn't that great. I love the idea of a survival horror game taking place in the SCP facility, but I don't like the blinking thing at all.

I was actually in the thread when the creator of it was trying to find some way to make it so 173 wasn't completely poo poo (just keep looking at it). Will probably be improved, but personally I don't really mind it, gives you that extra "oh poo poo" aspect with each blink hoping 173 isn't near, or those creepy shadow things aren't around.

I think it would work better if the blackout time was shorter though, but again, I quite like the blinking mechanic but I don't like how long it stays black for.

My favorite thing is how my application keeps getting rejected because I can't find the dozen secret loving passwords or whatever. I just want to be able to vote on the drat scp's. Wouldn't even write one for a while, if ever.

Edit: no, this is me not wanting to spend all loving day reading through a bunch of poo poo I don't need to know right now, just to be able to vote on SCP's that I like. Also I read through the poo poo and only found one.

It's SCP-998. It's a great concept, but goes in a pretty lame Twilight Zone 'something on the wing' direction with the crew screaming, instead of something more eerie. I'm not sure what to do instead; I think the Mountains of Madness direction is almost as trite.

Pretty irrelevant if I can't find the original author to get permission, though!

Two quick things: 1. change Agent M's name, because the blacked out area is just enough to fit "ulder" in there and that's my first thought. 2. when did Doctor H puke? Am I supposed to be getting the impression that he did so outside the containment room while reading the previous reports?

Wow, I didn't even notice that. And yeah, the puking was supposed to be post document examination. Maybe I should add something to make it more obvious?

Maybe change it to "02:28:33 PM: SCP-1121-1 stops using SCP-1121-2. Dr. Hasty enters the cell. Vomit is visible on his labcoat. He collects the remaining documents and leaves." I'm not sure how to do it better than that TBH, but it'd be at least clearer if not in the right tone.

Might want to black out that "Hasty" bit too, which I just noticed.

Well, for one thing, Remington Rand stopped making typewriters in the mid-1950s. Either redact the age, brand name, or both.

It's probably worth noting that you misspelled "bag" as "bad"

Otherwise, I like it. It pokes fun at itself and the site (which takes itself way too seriously). It may draw away from the "seriousness" of the article, but more incident logs with some of the more outlandish ideas (from deleted SCP's, not decommissioned ones) would be cool.

If you keep getting negative votes, it might be worth making this a -J.

Regarding the SCP game:

Why not let the player mash a certain button which will make the character not blink so SCP-173 will not be that broken. Have it function where the player has to mash said button/key faster over time, trying to keep the "blink bar" full, like torture scenes in Metal Gear Solid.
