Er, I should have stated that I have one arm. That deadlift is with one arm, but with the same barbell as normal.

Cutting is rad you should keep doing it. Muscle gain is impossible anyway.

bdwvdc posted:Goal Bodyweight You don't get this appearance by cutting nonstop when you're 6', 160lbs and coming from skinnyfat. The statue in this picture has hella muscle definition. In order to have an appearance anywhere close to this, you need to build some muscle. Yeah, lean out enough and eventually you'll probably get some abzzz going on, but what will the rest of you look like? (hint: YLL...) If you just want to be super light for whatever reason, then go for it. If you want to look anything like that statue, then I think you're on the wrong track. There are a bunch of guys here about your height who are 20-30lbs heavier and have more definition all over, including abs. Take a hint from their progress and go build some muscle, if the statue is your goal. We can tweak your Toxx if you decide to go that route.

For this toxx goal I had two objectives: lose belly fat and build muscle with Modified Starting Strength. Early on in the year, I budgeted for 2000 calories, with a protein/carb/fat of 40/40/20. The strength training was going fine and I seemed to be losing some belly fat. In late February, I upped my diet to around 2550 calories, with a protein/carb/fat of 40/40/20. Again, the strength training was going fine, and the belly fat was slowly coming off. In late March, I again increased my calories to 2750, with the same p/c/f. My reasoning was that I was at a good bodyweight, but I needed to build muscle. In early May I noticed that if I didn't start losing weight (belly fat), I wouldn't be at my "Goal Bodyweight," so I reduced my calories to 2100. However, I modified by p/c/f to 50/25/25 to keep the muscle that I had with 1 gram of protein/pound. I was still increasing in lifting. The belly fat started to go away, but very very slowly. At the end of May, I realized that I would have to cut my diet again to try to hope for my goal by December. I modified it to 1600~ calories, with 50/25/25 again with 1 gram of protein/pound. I believe that I am still gaining at the gym, but not as much as before, which I thought was normal. If you think I need to modify this again for the goal...I will of course.

Cut down to abs and lean bulk. You will have to eat less to gain weight, which gives you the opportunity to clean up your diet.

It's hard to gauge the bodyfat level in the pictures, but that's kind of in line with what Lyle reccomends: http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/mu...-mass-gain.html quote:1. First and foremost, for reasons outlined in my article Initial Body Fat and Body Composition Changes, trainees should not be starting out their muscle gaining phase too fat. Males should be ~10-12% body fat before even considering going on any kind of ‘bulk’ (fatter trainees can usually gain some muscle while losing fat with a basic recomposition plan; this is beyond the scope of this article). For a female, this would be roughly equivalent to 19-24% body fat.

DuckConference posted:It's hard to gauge the bodyfat level in the pictures, but that's kind of in line with what Lyle reccomends: I highly doubt Lyle would look at the OP and say "keep losing weight, you are not small enough to grow muscles yet." And regardless, the OP said he had a nice recomp going with higher calories and only shifted to hard cutting because he had Toxx fright. That was working, so why not give it another go?

Look at piggles and defiant sally, they started bulking at very low weights **with abs**, and kept their abs while gaining weight, and look better than most of the forum.

TastesBlue posted:Yes. You are implying a false dichotomy. He doesn't have to choose between either going for rip-ped abs or eating everything and getting fat. He's got some texture popping out around his midsection, including around the hips. He's lean enough to start growing a muscle. Given that many people (and especially beginners) here find that they can build muscle and lose fat at the same time simply by eating around maintenance and working hard in the gym, and given that he said it was working for him, I suggest he do that until it stops working, and then think about cutting or perhaps doing a sensible bulk. Or he could do a sensible bulk now (3lbs/month or so) and he'd also be fine. bdwvdc posted:From tomorrow on, my diet will be 2550 Calories, with Protein 30%, Fat 30%, and Carbs 40%. I'd suggest you spend the next week or so eating around 2200 calories before ramping up the calories. Based on what you said earlier, 2500 should be a good point to try, since you were making gains and still losing fat while doing that. As for Toxx stuff, we can discuss it more via PM.

Stop cutting, start bulking. You cant flex bone. If you cut to the point where you have rip-ped abs, you're gonna look like FineX Day 1. There was some article on CNN awhile back oh wait here it is: http://articles.cnn.com/2009-02-09/...ls?_s=PM:HEALTH Jason Dinant is the guys name. Thats what you're going to look like if you keep cutting.

TastesBlue posted:Have... you seen how excruciatingly slow he has been cutting fat? Just to clarify this: I started out at 130, if not lighter, because of a WoW addiction that overrode my body's self preservation mechanisms such as "Hunger", which is why I had abs. That said, I have never cut a day in my life. Unfortunately, I am an extreme outlier because I have retarded genetics and a broken thyroid that allow me to do, eat and drink whatever the gently caress.
