Going through a lot of reddit today has left me really depressed. Like really actually literally depressed and I can't seem to shake it. I thought the hateful comments were relegated mainly to /r/mensrights and /r/antisrs but gently caress me even /r/feminism is completely milquetoast bullshit. Congrats reddit you've ruined me.

So I normally lurk this thread so I can keep a reasonable distance between me and the poop, but I occasionally get bored and browse the few subreddits I don't mind. I made the mistake of reading the comments on one entry, and I found a creepy novelty account: http://www.reddit.com/user/I_KNOWS_YOUR_NAME It looks like this guy googles usernames in an attempt to figure out the name of the person he's replying to. It's creepy. Googling usernames is weird but simple enough, but he's confessed he sometimes digs more to find the name. I_KNOWS_YOUR_NAME posted:Sometimes, yes. Othertimes it takes longer than that. I have another account I use for more normal engagement with Reddit. This one is purely for my own entertainment. Even if he's just doing it to gently caress with people, it's creepy, and most people call him on it, but he does it anyway. I can see him sitting at his computer, alone, in the darkness, posting "THATS RIGHT...ADAM" and laughing gleefully to himself as someone on the internet is creeped out. Oh man, you so hilarious, I_KNOWS.

Actually took the time to report him and message the mods of boards where he had posted (where I could find contacts, not good at reddit), it probably won't do poo poo, but what the gently caress else can I do? Saint Joseph Jesus Christ... I took the plunge and decided to see what the Reddit hubbub was about after hearing about it a lot in the TV Tropes thread. This behaviour, all these comments and all the bigotry, makes me really depressed. I know I shouldn't let it get to me because all these buttheads are probably greasy mid-twenties neckbeards with no self-esteem, but I'm so caught off-guard by how bad this site is. I do enjoy a good mock thread, but Reddit is too much for my innocent mind.

Their entire lives are based upon the assimilation of information from other sources and then twisting said information (or having someone else twist it for them) to suit whatever worldview they happen to have. My parents and most of my family is like this. They look for the nearest source of information which supplies them with easy confirmation bias and drink it in like people dying in a desert finding an oasis. Reddit just does this with Ron Paul and AVFM.com instead of Fox News.
