EDIT: Use "Random" button when starting matches. If you're dishonest, use the race you want to, but you will always know that you are a cheater and you cheated to win a stupid tournament for no money and gained a status point that is literally worthless, and in fact has negative status value if you tell anyone.

If you don't have elves, then we know what your choice is...

If you don't hear from your opponent in 24 hours in game, post ONCE in the thread asking WTF?
24 hours after that, you win that bracket (set of games - 2/3)

Bracket will be posted shortly and tourney games can begin. PM me with info on brackets (winner of 2/3, not each individual game) when you get it. I will update the bracket daily around noon. Weekends might be iffy for me, I will do my best and in any case keep everyone informed.

I also reserve the right to make unilateral decisions regarding the tourney unless shouted down by numerous goons in the thread.

This is a bit confusing, I see two matches that feed into others before the rest, which it appears the winner of that one (A) will play me? Or is my opponent not selected? The site is blocked at my work so I don't know if viewing it on my iPhone is causing the problem.

Oh man my goose is cooked. Can you run two separate games with one person? I think you may able to, just enter my name into challenge again.

Our current game is the closest I've come to beating neph, he has 6% crystal left but a great wall of turtle up, it's exciting.

Do ninjas do double damage to everything? I am trying to figure out how my opponent was able to move twice, attack my ninja twice for 480 each time, then move onto the corpse. The opposing ninja had the sword item, and my ninja had the shield item. By my math, that means he should only be capable of 240 a hit if he is not on a sword icon, or have the scroll item used.

Sworded ninja does about 600 damage if I recall correctly.

The ninja does double damage in melee. So, meleeing with a sword he does 2x300 for 600 minus whatever your armor % is.

Technically this makes who gets to see the setup first an orderly thing. But you can just reverse it on second game so it's fair. Shouldn't make much difference anyway.

I've sent my challenge to Deeay so game on. I have to say, that I must have spent about 11 hours playing this game by now, once you get a bunch of games going responses flood in so quickly that you can play literally non-stop. I found that if I sit on a particular cycling machine at the gym that I can leech some wifi, and I spent an hour pedalling while playing this. Shortest hour in the gym ever! I loving hate exercising, but this kept my mind off it like nothing else.

Right, guess I'll go try that same thing again. I have active games with lots of you, stand by for incoming.

Threads like this are why I spent my :tenbux: I would never get such fun playing against random pubbies.

Chiming in as the first loss in my bracket for the tourney. (DarkHelmet losing to Farts 0-2)

Farts is a real son of a bitch.

I got doubly unlucky randoming elves all three times. Having played quite a few games with them, they just don't match the point holding power of the warrior, the raw damage of the archer, or AOE like the wizard.

They have units that do AOE and ranged damage but nothing like the humans.

Elf vs elf can be an intense battle but I feel like human v elf is a steady steam roll. Again I might just suck.

With a tank warrior on the siege point and an archer sniping the crystals. Elves don't have a good counter for this. At least I haven't found one.

On the flip side, they have wraiths that in themselves can be real gamechangers. Elf strategy, from my side of the table, seems to be all about supporting that unit, everything else is secondary.

Seriously though guys, I think this game is the best weight loss program the world has ever seen. My magic wifi machine at the gym was occupied, so I had to use another one. 20 minutes of watching a video didn't distract me at all, but by then I was able to go get my usual spot and Hero Academy up. 60 minutes later and I'm still pedalling and cancelling the cool down session so I can go again. My brain is so focused on killing dudes I don't notice what's happening to my body. A few more weeks of this and I'll be a tactical genius with the body of a Greek god.

Oh, I'm going to turn into some kind of serial killer aren't I?

Yeah, or just people who have forgotten or whatever. It would be nice if you could "nudge" games that have gone more than like 24 hours without a move, to send them a notification that you're still waiting.

Where can I turn push notifications on? I initially disabled them, but it would be really nice to not have to open up the app to see if someone has actually taken a turn. I have been all over the in game settings, so I must be missing something obvious. Feel free to mock me if it is something simple.

Notification settings in the settings app.

I turned off everything but badges because the drat phone wouldn't shut up at night. Don't you loving goons have day jobs?

VVV I was kidding for the most part. I did turn off most notifications though. Partly due to sleep and partly due to me not being able to get anything done at work because I couldn't bring myself to not play my move whenever a notification came through.

It was actually in his description originally, and due to a minor copy/paste issue was changed at the last minute before release to the generic "strong melee" comment. We're going to change it back as soon as we can get an update in.

Hero Academy Goon Tourney Update!
Updated Brackets are HERE

Only one match was completed, so I am assuming the rest of you have jobs, families, lives, etc. which stop you from playing 24-7. (FWIW - I am still in the end stages of my first game at this point...)

Reminder of rules so far: Use "random" in choosing races when playing your games. You don't have to wait to contact other player, just switch who starts if that matters to you. Report via PM or if you can't do that, then report in the thread.

EDIT: NOTE: If you are still waiting to hear from your opponent - hit the "create game" button, enter their username, and start a game with them. Perhaps they are waiting to hear from you? If they still don't respond by tomorrow morning, then let me know either with a PM or in the thread. There are a handful of players who would like to participate and we'll stick them in there.
