I was thinking the same... Depending on the prices I'm sure the usual goon-crew could rent a server pretty easily. We could craft a server with the best balance between soft and hardcore to make everyone happy.

I've been looking for a reason to get back into it, or into multiplayer in general, but there's too many other great single player games out there. And I don't like getting completely slaughtered because I don't play often enough to be at least competent.

I'm a little worried about the big map pack too because I guess it will be like Heavy Metal which was loving miserable if you couldn't fly choppers and weren't in a tank (or some chopper whore raped the gently caress out of every tank that moved).

It should be entirely indoors and you can blow out every wall, making the entire map collapse and end the game.

Counterpoint: Harvest Day, Panama Canal, Noshahr Canals, Wake Island, Kharg Island, etc. There are lovely large maps but there are also excellent ones, so hopefully this pack tends towards doing the right kind of large maps (namely ones with 4 points not all in a straight line).

Alternatively, corpses should be made permanent and manipulable. You can build your own walls from the dead . Or pull a Memories of Ice and pack a building so full of bodies it stands up without structural support.

Big maps rock so hard when they're properly spaced. The coolest part of BF for me was always the scale, and you just dont get that feeling on maps like Bazaar or OpMet. Stuff like Noshar are the perfect balance
though. But I also love poo poo like Red Orchestra and ArmA where the maps can literally be gigantic open fields, so maybe I'm biased.

Not really sure I agree with you on Wake and Kharg islands but also that point holds for all maps, not just large ones. Nelson bay CQ was absolutely amazingly fun because of the merry-go-round you got when the teams were even close to being balanced.

Mashtuur city from BF2 was probably my favourite BF2 map precisely because of this.

No, that was the best thing about BC2 IMO. The maps just had the gigantic sense of scale that IMO most maps in BF3 don't.

Modern Warfare 3 bragged about this and their maps were loving awful. I'll take the 2-16 player count as a sign they're expecting more playerbase dropoff as the next update is going to make or break the game for a lot of people.

And I'll admit, I'd play a Metro + inflated ticket count server, even if only once for the disgusting amount of revive/first aid/resupply ribbons. Knowing my luck I'd join on a team losing 7990-10 being spawncamped though.

I was more referring to the fact you couldn't shoot down most killstreaks when they got called in because of all the pointless poo poo in the way, even on map edges. And nobody sniped in that game! There were sniper rifles sure, but they all got used about five feet away.

It put me on the same level of rage akin to useless stingers / USAS / body hiding in walls.
