It is. You know what else is a timeless and awesome multiplayer experience that I still regularly enjoy on original hardware? Warlords. A friend of mine found one of the original cocktail versions of the machine for sale at our local version of Califoria Extreme a few years ago, and we play it all the time. It's a loving awesome time, even in 2012.

You see, on every map, there are what I like to call 'zen lines'. Snipers move to areas with high concentrations of these lines, optimally where many of them converge, and standing still on one pf those 'zen points' allows the user to achieve temporary enlightenment to the Shitlord Plane. Doing so produces quite a euphoric feeling, and it's not uncommon for one to stand on one of these points for more than five minutes at a time.

If a sniper thats not in a squad drops a spawn beacon anyone on the team can spawn on it.

Well, to me this game (along with BC2) is like the only one where it's actually kind of satisfying to snipe people from a distance. You get to watch the bullet travel, figure out the drop, lead, etc., and it kind of builds anticipation as you watch it hit someone (hopefully). It's just a shame that you aren't much of an asset to your team unless you find an AMAZING spot and are good enough to fend of a LOT of enemies from a highly contested objective.

I just get too caught up in doing all the other stuff to devote any time to trying it out.

I'd love if there was a system in hardcore where kill-cams activate when you are sniped by the same dude on your third death. That would take the frustration out of it for me if I knew where the shot came from.

Something must be really hosed with my install or something because sometimes while playing on HC servers I get a killcam. It kind of goes hand in hand with reload animations not playing, firing invisible mortar shells, and more annoyingly the friendly squad markers not appearing until after I've teamkilled them.

Never knew this. Those spawn medals and ribbons should be easier to get now, so I can get some points when games are going lovely. I seem to be having problems with invisible walls lately. Either assholes shamelessly abusing them, or getting what would've been a kill hosed up by them.

And I don't personally mute my TV, but if I'm having a less than stellar session but not quite ready to ragequit I'll put on a youtube vid or something while half-assedly running around the map trying to get easy points.

I miss BC2's tracer dart... You could get a bunch of goons to light up a sniper like a christmas tree and there was an exact spot you could shoot them so that the red blinking showed on their screen.

Not to mention counter sniping with the tracer dart and sending a locked RPG at them.

I dont think you do, because its not running anything 'virtually'. you reboot from OSX and get taken to full blown windows 7 installation. I have VMs, and I have boot camp, and I can assure you I am not using anything even slightly graphics intensive in a VM. Theres plenty of people with the same setup as I not having any issues hardware wise and running the game successfully - Its even weirder because its a fresh install of windows 7.

Either way I just wanted to prove a point that if you just want to shoot bros and have a good time you can do it much more easily on a console than a PC. I was really only doing it to see what 64 players is like.

I've been noticing Support dudes hanging out in that area recently. I have no idea why, but I've been running across 2 to 3 at times. That and now there's at least one tank with zoom optics and guided shells that will sit there the whole round. The terrain is so rough in that area that going after the camping tank with another tank is an easy kill.

Something I've been wondering about is guided shells vs aircraft. Do flares stop the incoming round? Seems flares only work half the time if at all when I get a guided shell lobbed my way. In jets its a non-factor, but in choppers it's annoying. In the choppers you have to stay low because if you're effective at killing ground targets at all, you can bet your rear end someone you've killed is going to hop in a jet just to ram you.

I might be wrong but I think if they manage to send a guided shell your way then you're just screwed. Flares definitely don't work, but ECM might break the CITV or SOFLAM lock before the tank can lock.

And then, you assumed running one of the most resources hogging games ever through a virtual machine on your iMac would be a good way to go?
