Yet another employment dispute... 3rd Job, 3rd employment issue. This time it's an illegal termination. I have a friend that's a legal consultant that gave me some great advice and put me in touch with a labor attorney so hopefully all will end well. Do yourselves a favor if looking for work and avoid EdUp.

Cameron posted:Is that an afterschool? And is that the same as WinEdu? Yessir. A friend highly recommended them me, then we both found out how they do "business". I'm not sure how to handle the situation yet, I have 6 months left to the contract. Everyone I've talked to said it's clear cut illegal termination.

OK... It is a termination. Basically its a result of a clash of personality with my co-teach who threw me under the bus to the company. My termination is illegal since they gave me no documented warnings and they are refusing to put my termination in writing. It's so helpful having met lawyers. They've advised me that I'm technically entitled to the full contract worth a pay, but it's not likely I'd ever see that.

Job hunting is making me lose it. 2 weeks until I'm illegally fired and the only offer I've got is from a place I completely don't trust. I figured having a transferable visa would make this quick but even the recruiters cringe when they hear that I worked for EdUp/WinEdu. One recruiter even said "I don't think I'll be able to get a reference from them". Glad I've put in extra hours every day for the past 2 months.

Thanks TreFitty theinfamouszero at gmail Working on getting a pro-bono lawyer now. I guess my contact works for a very influential law firm here.

Last day at my job. This company has cost me so much sleep. I'm probably going to end up signing a contract with a POS tiny hakwon that I don't trust. At least this time it's only for 6 months. I feel like I could find better but not having a reference from current employer has killed me in the job hunt to. Getting ready to file a complaint against this company for unlawful termination, they haven't reply to the Content Certified Letter that I sent them in Korean and English and they aren't replying to my emails or answering my calls. Lucky for me I found out they've had claims against them multiple times by foreigners and Koreans... and the company has lost.

Anyone know of an afterschool program called ISAM. I interviewed with them today and they seem to want me but after getting burned from EdUp/Win Ed. I'm wary of the after-school gigs. I need to find a decent job, every offer I've gotten has been crap. I had spot my friend was setting me up with then the director screwed my friend on his way out. Glad I found that out before I signed on.

Pro Tip: Taking legal action against a past employer is awful for your job search. I've been looking for about a month now and everyone wants a reference from last employer. Last time I looked I had several offers in the first week.

All this job competition is really hurting people looking for work. My girlfriend has been here over 3 1/2 years and hasn't been able to find a decent job. She turned down 2 offers. 1 because it was a family operated hakwon that seemed to be a management cluster gently caress and the other because they refused to strike the "housing deposit" from the pay despite her not taking housing from the school. A friend of mine who's a legal consultant here has been helping me to report hakwons for misconduct but it's like trying to fill a bathtub drop by drop. I wish there was some way to expose the hakwons for they are, it seems most Koreans are pretty unaware to their shady actions and that most of them don't care about the quality of education.
