Camp is over and done with thank god. I thought the New Zealand teacher was gonna hit a smack on one of the kids while they were practising for their performance. He got right in his face and screamed shut up at him and then dragged him out of the class by his jumper, the kid was lying on the ground at one stage.I lost the head when I got downstairs to the teachers room. I was told this kind of stuff happens in public schools. Am I being naive in thinking that it doesn't? I'll be so mad if this guy doesn't get at least a warning for this. The class was full of little brats, but last night they were my little brats doing the haka!

I did, I was so angry and shocked that I was nearly crying, then halfway through telling my coordinator I started loosing the head. I hope he looses his job here because he's an utter dick, I've given him several chances to redeem himself but he's just a wanker. Grand Fromage posted:Maybe I don't understand exactly what NZ guy was doing. I've grabbed a kid's arm and taken him out to stand in the hallway, put him back in his seat, or held it still so I could take the phone out of his hand after refusing to hand it over and me being tired of it holding up the class. I've also grabbed them and held them still to stop them from beating each other, since I was told it was my responsibility to make sure they don't hurt each other. And the fistfights in the middle of class are disruptive. Should I not be doing this? I stop them fighting, sometimes I grab their hands to lift them off the floor and they resist. But, I would never scream at a child in such a way as he did. If I get annoyed I usually start clapping or rap a marker on the table or raise my voice, I would never scream at the children. Here's what happened exactly. I was sitting at the top of the class, another teacher that we had especially for camp was sitting behind me. The kids each had a little line to say to introduce their performance which was on New Zealand. They were chattering away, they were all excited and every so often someone wouldn't recognise a word. (a few times when the bad readers made a mistake this guy made them do 10 push ups as punishment? Brian was the kid that got in trouble. He shouted above the others and I asked them all to be quiet for practise. NZ teacher puts his face in front of his and screams SHUT UPPPPP! at the top of his lungs. Que horrible scared silence. I say the teachers name in a pissed off tone, about to loose the head but I just kept quiet because I don't want to argue in front of the kids. Brian laughs I think it was nervous and the teacher grabs the child by his jumper at the chest and drags him to the door (during this he trips and all but the teacher still drags him out and gives him a time out outside the door) Then after about 5 minutes he goes out and drags the kid in by the jumper and pushes him into the seat. After class he came over to me and said "I really have to stop doing that" I looked at him and said "yeah you really have to" and I stormed down to the principals office. I asked the other teacher, do you think that's right? Her reply was that in public schools they would have to deal with alot worse... If someone did that to one of my nephews or my niece there would be absolute ructions, no person not even a parent should treat a child like that. The coordinator said that "it is a very stressful time for all teachers I will speak to the kids and speak to NZ teacher seperately but I will have to have a meeting with you and NZ teacher after camp" In other news I just watched a documentary "Inside North Korea" I really really really want to go North now. Absolutely fantastic piece of work. The other teachers think I am bat poo poo crazy for wanting to go.

So I brought my laptop in to school today. The principal looked at it, rang asus who told him that the motherboard is gone. 270,000 to repair, as the warranty of the laptop is gone over one year. BULLSHIT I bought this 6 months ago, before I came to Korea. I have a receipt to prove it. I didn't register it on the internet. (which is something that the lads said I should have done- my fault there.) Any one know anything about consumer law in Korea. When you buy a device you get one year warranty from the date you buy in Ireland. Is this different in Korea?

Also, does anyone know of english speaking SK telecom rep in the Osan/Suwon/Pyeontaek area that I can talk to about my contract? The guy that did my contract has closed his shop to go travelling.
