It fell flat on it's face; the public view them as dirty hippies hippies and homeless poors, compounded by the lovely Fairfax journalism which did absolutely nothing to try and bring any semblance of balance to the issue. :yum:

That being said, it created at least some disucssion about the homeless in Wellington (especially because of Ben "Blanket Man" Hana's death).

So yea, gently caress Fairfax, gently caress Penny Bright, gently caress John Key eat the poor etc.

The radical Maori people of New Zealand had better wake up to themselves soon, a treaty is just that. A treaty, there is no legal binding too continue too honor it if either one of the party's decides it does not want too.

Meaning.
1 .When the government wakes up(if ever), it can just turn around and tell them all to shut up and go away.
2. Maori people would be treated under the same law as every other citizen.(wow how fair is that?)
3. New Zealand can start spending dollars on growing instead of having to sell off assets to pay money to maori.

I for one cannot wait until this day arrives. It will almost welcome New Zealand to the real world instead of the isolated dreamland we live in.

It looks like the idea behind assett sales is based on numbers which Bill English just made up to make it seem like it makes sense. The only problem with that plan is that even with his imaginary numbers it still doesn't make any financial sense to sell the assetts. My education under NCEA was so bad I'm not entirely sure what "pupil score percentile" even means :v:

When was that? I did NCEA level 3 last year and it's not a bad system at all.

I worked hard, did 5 external subjects, got 3 scholarships and an E endorsement and got into Uni no questions. Compare that to a lot of my friends who did unit standards, sat no externals, pissed around all year and technically 'achieved' level 3 but were laughed at by just about every tertiary provider they went to.

They even offered IB at my school and it was a complete loving joke - endless hours in the library, long periods of study, extra lessons with teachers. 3 teachers left for 'family reasons' (read: they were working 80 hour weeks under IB) that a lot of the IB students were hung out to dry at the end of the year. I started it in 6th form, dropped it by the end of the year. I technically don't have NCEA level 2 but who cares cause gently caress you IB.

It will be nice once we get back to our own place though. All 4 of us at my parents house (or to put it another way, my wife's inlaws) for the past 2 or 3 months has been interesting. Free babysitters though.

While that goes down, I shall read up on federation subnational politics. You know, just in case baby doesn't decide to come and those assholes at Massey (they are better than they were a decade ago, but still assholes) decide that this doesn't warrant an impaired examination.

I loving love that video, especially how all the apologists have come flooding out of the woodowork (it came from facebook):

quote:

John Key is a better PM than David Shearer or Phil Goff would be. Let's face it with the ammount of spending they have promissed NZ would be getting bailouts from Australia and the amnount of debt would sky rocket. People fail to realise how much of a potential debt problem we have, the NZIER earlier this year said something like 10-15 years time NZ will have debt worse than Greece. When we are trying to avoid the cliff edge things need to be privatised and spending cut, it is a part of structural reform. If you are going to criticise Key then at least make an imtelligent argument rather than calling it "Liberal conspiracies" and "Zionist capatalist conspiracy". With the dividend argument. Look at the reason why companies do an IPO. They know that the equity they raise is worth a lot more than the dividends they loose. Dividends are not proportional to the percentage you own of the company, you could own 10% of the company but the dividends you recieve will be a lot less than 10% of the owners equity. Highly profitable firms do IPO's traditionally.

The plan is to not allow Canterbury residents vote in the next regional council elections scheduled next year because the Government is worried they may vote for the wrong people. Anyone who cares even a bit about maintaining democracy should feel sick about them even thinking of doing that.

Also the Greens have laid a Police complaint against the GCSB, I wonder if they will actually do anything with it though

Can someone explain the Green's whole 'print money to lower dollar value and create manufacturing jobs' thing for those of us who are economically illiterate?

Quantative Easing is when you intentionally devalue your dollar (usually by printing more money) in order to promote exports. Our dollar is really overvalued at the moment.

More exports = more jobs essentially.

National won't do it because it means you have to counteract inflationary pressure by lowering a big tax like petrol tax or GST. And they just recently raised GST to pay for their tax cut on the rich stimulate the economy or whatever.

So in short, Steven Joyce and National are lying fucks and, as usual, the media aren't willing to do any research.
