So I bought this and look forward to trying Multiplayer, but, is the campaign not even worth trying?

The reason I asked is I loaded up the first US mission (Wake Island) one and no matter what I try, my drat copilot just breezes out of sight like he has 14 engines on him. I can't keep up no matter what I try. And then he yells at me :(
