Montreal was insane. Wanna give a big shout out to w.a.s.t.e. because my seats were possibly the best I have ever had at an arena show. 3 rows back from the floor one section back from the stage. I was like 25 feet away with a perfect view. I'll upload some pics on sunday. Toronto up next!

Goddamnit Toronto. At least I saw them in Montreal yesterday. Apparently Flaming Lips are playing a free show tonight somewhere in Toronto if anyone's interested or stranded in Toronto for the night like me. But seriously, gently caress.

My heart goes out to everyone who had to endure that, and condolences to the family of the deceased. Even one death in something like this is too many. Hell, even one injury.

Without wishing to detract from the godawful human tragedy of this disaster, this could gently caress up the rest of the tour. Chances are those injured/killed were touring crewmembers and I'd be amazed if the band's equipment got away unscathed. Jesus. Wouldn't be surprised if the band didn't become aggressively safety-conscious about stage construction from now on, either. This is going to be a serious event for their career. Jesus! What loving horror!

Their gear might be hosed, though, although I've heard they have two stage set-ups so at least they'll have that for the next part of the tour. I was holding out hope they'd reschedule another date, but apparently they're just going to issue refunds. ![]() Hilariously enough everyone's tweeted/said something except Live Nation (the promoter,) who instead decided to tweet about Dave Matthews Band about an hour after the collapse. I mean, I wouldn't expect any sort of statement right away until they get facts, but that's pretty loving insensitive of them to do when someone just died at one of their shows. robodex fucked around with this message at Jun 16, 2012 around 22:37 |

seems like it wasn't tour staff so it was all locals on the stage for whatever reason. one story/rumor I read was that the stage construction was supposed to have been up earlier in the week but ran behind and they had to rush it, which usually means cutting corners or half-assing it. I imagine we'll find out more later this week once the organizers are fully questioned on what the hell happened.

I think that if they were to combine the singles (butcher/supercollider, daily mail/staircase) and throw in Orgy, Identikit, Ful Stop and maybe one or two more songs as live recreations, they could do a tour EP or something that would be really nice, kinda like the I Might be Wrong EP a while back, even though I'm sure that one was more for contractual obligations rather than the desire to put out new recorded music.

It's not really counterpoint is it, I mean it's basically just a repeating vocal riff.
