gucci void main posted:Good thing I didn't buy tickets for one of the live shows, because if they're anything remotely like this then you could just listen to the album and save yourself $60: I was there and that video doesn't really do it justice. The transitions were cool, the songs sounded different because it was more than just Thom singing over the backing track from the album, and the bass was so loving heavy it was like we were standing right in front of a gigantic subwoofer (which we were). And it was just $25, not $80.

http://www.wnyc.org/shows/heresthething/2013/apr/01/ Alec Baldwin interviewing Thom. edit: I enjoy it because Alec Baldwin tries so hard, I can just imagine the look when he starts talking about Aphex Twin, and Thom is a sport with Alec being funny.

Thom was surprisingly open in that interview, actually. That's the most he's talked about his personal life in what feels like many years, since he doesn't do traditional interviews too much anymore.

Why are you listening to Hail to the Thief? Did you lose your copies of Kid A, OK Computer, The Bends, Amnesiac and In Rainbows? No but seriously, I don't skip it. I like to poo poo on Hail to the Thief but there are so many songs that are among my favorites on that album.

Hail to the Thief is a loving brilliant album, and I'll cut anyone who disagrees. It has a couple of tracks that aren't quite up to Radiohead's usual standard, but there's still not a bad song on there.

The real answer is Like Spinning Plates. All I know is Thom's got to stop cocking around making bleep 'n bloop music in Fruity Loops on his new laptop with his new girlfriends and get back in the studio with his REAL band you know what I'm sayin'?

I'm cool with 'bleep n bloop' music, he just needs to start writing better lyrics again. Most of Amok was just embarrassingly bad in that department.

Case in point, Backdrifts is 'bleep n bloop' song, and it owns in every possible way (including lyrics). Bleep'n'bloop isn't the problem, Thom's encroaching middle age may be though.
