Yeah, the Unlimited Cruise games were subtitled only even when they came out in Europe. They've probably figured there's no point in spending money on actors for games that are, sadly, very niche outside of Japan.

I wouldn't say that. The ONLY thing the video definitively shows is that we'll have the original voice actors. If they want to do it right, they'll offer either it either dubbed or subbed.

I love Funimation's dub, but they wouldn't touch the game until they reached the point in the anime it's at. Which isn't going to happen for at least ten years.

Not with you on this... Options for both would be preferable. I love both groups (Original cast and Funimations) interpretations and would play through both just to hear all of them.

Unlimited Adventure had content up through the end of Enies Lobby and Funimation dubbed it. Characters like Lucci and Franky had voices and they still haven't appeared in the dub. No idea why they haven't localized the others.

Main Log seems slightly repetitive but the bosses all are different and once you reach Shabody its a awesome deal.

Another log is fun with a friend. only down side seems that the split screen is vertical only so you miss some side action, and, you can only advance in the story if you are playing the log for the character player one is using.

Unless it was confirmed somewhere it could still be a possibility. I mean the game is still new in japan, this isn't hitting the US for a while so it could be they just haven't done the dialogue for it yet.

Its pretty obvious that theyre taking the conservative side with this. They know theres a niche audience for it, but not a big enough audience to warrant a full release. Thats why they arent putting any money into voice acting or a physical copy. Sadly One Piece never became the next dragonball, most likely because of the death of the saturday morning cartoon and the absolute wreck of the 4kids dub.

At this point we have to take what we can get, the One Piece brand is effectively dead in the US.

I heard that when Fate/Extra came out in English on the PSP a couple of months back, it sold more copies overnight than it did for its entire release history in Japan. I can only hope this game does even a fraction as well.

F/E didn't get a dub either, which is practically a war crime because Liam O'brien as Archer and Mela Lee as Rin were easily the best members of that dub cast and the only carry overs from the show. I suppose it can't be seen as surprising though since now even entire shows are getting undubbed releases. I suppose we should count our blessings that we're seeing anime games at all on western shores. I remember a time in the 90's where I would have given any amount of money to play, say, Evangelion: Girlfriend of Steel, just because I liked the show that much.

Still, it depresses me that dubbed anime is going extinct. It was an evolving artform that grew as the industry itself grew. Even when it was terrible it was always good for a laugh, and it was always interesting to see the kinds of decisions that translators, directors and actors made with a given show. To watch the balance between localization, faithfulness to the original and artistic expression play out no matter what the end result's overall quality was.

I guess when the entire American industry is on the ropes, the thing that is both most expensive and most likely to be whined about on their forums is logically the first thing to go

When the game is released and if it actually gets marketed enough (viral or traditional) it might respark interest in the series. Either way buying it can't hurt and I plan to gift a few to some friends in hopes that they spread the love as well... A man can dream

As both a one piece fan and a musou fan its pretty obvious that Ill be buying the game.

Also to everyone who hasnt played many Musou games, yes it really is that repetitive. Theres a charm to it and a lot of people like it just because you can beat people up in the Three Kingdoms era.

Its a huge part of the draw. Myself and at least half a dozen of my friends have all read the novel itself just because we were drawn into the history of the game. Knowing all the major players and the battle arenas is a big part of the Musou genre. Since everyone in this thread knows all the characters and locations already, you just get to have fun beating up marines at Eneis Lobby without having to learn up on a piece of classical chinese literature.

Was anything really "the next Dragon Ball" in terms of popularity in USA? I dont think Naruto or Bleach ever reached Dragon Ball Z heights in the west? Maybe YuGiOh? Though it's not an anime, Avatar: TLA? If you want to count it, Pokemon?

This chapter was a little heavy and sluggish with all the exposition, but I suppose its best we got it out there. Its funny, because there was a lot of infodumping in the last chapter too, but that did a way better job.

Ceasar looks pretty cool. I'm guessing his fruit is a Logia, so it'll be time for Luffy to show off his Haki at MAXIMUM LEVEL when they fight. Also, I'm interested in how the showdown with him will play out now that the Strawhats seem to be somewhat enamored with the fluff piece Brownbeard has related to them.

I'm more and more interested in Harpy girl. She looks a lot more "natural," than Law's other centaurs. I can't help but think there will be some plot there.

Also, Smoker wearing his shirt open, Tashigi trying to adjust her non-existant glasses, and everyone's little ID masks were all chuckle worthy.

I think it would be a stone cold shame not to give the anime VA's the chance to deliver lines in each other's speech patterns. Franky's voice talking like Nami and Tashigi's talking like Smoker is far more hilarious than the alternative.

Same here. She seems to be quite calculating and close to Ceaser in that he ran experiments on the others in front of her, so presumably she's not just with him for the bullshit story Brownbeard was fed but for her own reasons. I'm guessing Sanji fights her in Nami's body, which should be fun.

I agree that this chapter felt slow and, even, dare I say it, tedious by One Piece standards. It was still fun, but nowhere near as fun as the last glut of chapters have been. Also, Smoker looks like Iceburg when Tashigi is running him.

So we know everyone else's roles in this. Now we have to figure out what Law's up to, where the rest of his crew is, who Joker is, and what's up with the kids.

I'm going to guess that Law is being manipulated somehow, because we have to have a good reason for him to eventually want to restore everyone.

I originally suggested that Bepo was one of 100 hearts as a joke, but I think it could actually be true. What better way to bribe a man than to hold his crew hostage against him? This would require Ceasar Clown to have some way of forcing Law to gently caress with his own crew mind, but he sounds like the kind of cruel bastard who could do that kind of thing. It'd explain why they're absent at the very least, along with possibly why he'd do the hearts thing in the first place and want to become a Shichibukai at all since he seemed quite content with life as a pirate chasing the dream in Shabondy. Doing this allows Ceasar to have a Warlord at his beck and call, someone who can go places normal pirates can't etc.

I'm sure there's better theories floating around though.
