Kevin Newsome was so loving bad but drat, he would have been nice this year because at worst, he would have been as terrible as McGloin or Bolden but could at least have a few cool runs

I hate watching kids languish on the bench because they're just determined to play offense and think they know better than everyone rather than suiting up and becoming a star on defense, even if they don't play for VT. Newsome could be worrying about next year's Combine than deciding what he's going to do for a career the next 40 years if he was just willing to play safety. Kam Chancellor was basically a less talented Newsome in high school. Nobody else offered, VT grabbed him really late, gave him a shot at QB and then said "try defense". Now he's a Pro-Bowler. There was nothing he had that Newsome didn't except the ability to listen to people who probably know better about where he belonged on the field.

Or it could be that kids just don't want to be safeties and should be left alone to make that choice. Whether or not they turn out to be NFL-caliber players at all (still a very rare thing even at the BCS level) should be secondary.

There's not a chance any of those other QBs can even do something nearly as cool (except Shane McGregor, who is writing a book)

As much as I'd love to see him in scarlet and grey, he's gotta be headed to PSU. They just got a good QB recruit, and he's been a lifelong fan; it should be a good fit for him.

All this optimism regarding Breneman is worrying me, so I'm just going to assume he picks OSU.

Outside of maybe Reggie Ball, I've never seen a QB more lost on a football field than Anthony Morelli. You'd watch Penn State play and you'd ask, do they really have no one better than this?

We were the recipients of Joe Dailey during the Bunting years after he transferred out of Nebraska and oh my gosh that guy had no idea what was going on

Apparently PSU is also in the running for former Terp Danny O'Brien, along with UConn and Wisky as the other serious contenders. Goddamn, O'Brien's not playing around with the QB situation.

I'd take my chances with Bolden under the premise that Jay Paterno sucks and maybe a non-lovely coach could do something with him.

Penn State would have won the Big Ten this year with Anthony Morelli. Even Morelli's worst day was miles above Bolden's bowl game.

In his defense I think he was still concussed that time he threw it right at Tyler Sash. And the next year Iowa's defensive line was just unfair and he wound up spending most of the night running for his life.
