You could drag a guy to almost any part of the ring, ringside area, or even ladders, and some special move would trigger. They were all unblockable as far as I remember -- the only reason I can think of for not having them now is that they didn't want to bother making new reversal animations. They took out the chops in the corner?

There were SO many problems with that game. Apart from the ones mentioned, the minimum of 4 reversals on every move, the fact that the safest place to be in an Ultimate X match was on the rope on the way to the title and the fact that it visually used the 6-sided ring, but functioned like a 4-sided ring meaning wrestlers were bouncing off invisible ropes half the time.

I seriously hate Steam. Everything runs so buggy, if it does at all. I'm trying to run a game by choosing to play it through steam. These preorder incentives crack me up. I picked up a copy of Arkham City at Best Buy today for $30. In it was a card with a free code for the Catwoman mission pack. Same thing happened with BF3, bought it a month late, still got the Karkand expansion free. I guess the retailers overestimate sales at launch.

So I realize I'm late with this, but I'm only now catching up on the X-mas titles since being out of work. That said, I finished Arkham City this week and while I enjoyed it very much, I seem to be one of the only people who thought it was a step back from Arkham Asylum. The attempted open world of the city felt forced, with the city streets barely more than enough to fit 1 car through, making it pointless to go places by any way but rooftops. They put a lot of work into building the city, but you gloss over the vast majority of it until the after the end when you circle back for all the Riddler stuff. Also in regards to the claustrophobic city, the grapnel felt really awkward to me. You could either take 10 seconds to line it up and confirm it's going to the ledge you want, or point in the general direction and hope it takes you somewhere in the vicinity (sometimes resulting in taking you to a rooftop behind you). Synopsis: Lots of fun, but I prefer Arkham Asylum.

I don't see what all the fuss is about. It's not like they doctored some well-known photo or even of some well-known person. Would people feel better if they had taken a picture of one of the female members of the production team or would the presence of that person's facebook page ruin your immersion?

Speaking of Boba Fett, I spent my childhood wondering what Boba Fett looked like under his helmet and then Lucas showed him without his helmet in Episode 2 and it wasn't exactly what I expected it to be and now I feel like part of me has died. My lawsuit against Lucasfilm is still pending.

FishBulb posted:You like Zelda. Darksiders is "edgy" 90s comic book Zelda. Welp, I'm sold. I mean, sold for $9.99. Also, I grabbed LotR War in the North a few days ago. It's a pretty decent hack and slash, with the notable exception that the melee combat is pretty much garbage. It's still fun making orc's heads disappear with well-placed arrows. It's supposed to have a pretty fun co-op, but I can't speak to that, as I don't imagine it's the kind of game that's fun to play with random people.

Save Russian Jews posted:Does War in the North play like something like Kingdoms of Amalur minus the character customization? Pretty much nailed it. The story is groan-inducing most of the time, but they're at least creative with some of the locations they have you go. Also, there's an element of character customization with equipment and Diablo 2 style ability trees. Also, Best Buy is dumb as hell. They supposedly had 3 copies, but couldn't find any. They offered me a rain check (on a game that they, most likely, will never get another shipment of), but the system would only give me the rain check at the regular price of $19.99 (which wouldn't really make it a rain check). The guy proceeded to tell me that the other store in my area also had 3 copies, and they could set one aside for me, but I would have to buy it at the store I was at. I informed him that that was a retarded idea and went about my business elsewhere. I may check the other store tomorrow because it's my day off, but I'm not in a hurry to give those idiots more of my money.

Also, the gargoyles aren't as massively useful as they were in the first game. After you string one guy up to one, they catch on to it. Taking out a room of guys takes a lot more variety than in AA.

Finally got around to finishing Darksiders yesterday. Had to rework my sound setup which involved a cheap pair of PC speakers and a couple adapters from Radio Shack. The voice acting in my first playthrough was good enough that I didn't want to play without it. Definitely a very fun game with some very satisfying combat and puzzles, but did anyone else feel like the bosses got easier towards the end? The Zelda parallels became pretty apparent when you started taking down the Chosen dudes. The temples themselves and the whole "found this item in here, use it to kill the boss" logic. Then I found the horse it and it even had the whole carrot/dash system from Ocarina. I also picked up and finished Enslaved, a game I've been interested in for a while, but never enough to actually buy it. It was a good buy for the $15 I spent on it, but it's incredibly short. Also, it tries really hard to be cinematic in scope, which it does well enough, but as a result, the controls aren't all that crisp and the camera angles can suck at times. A really fun game overall and pretty original. I'm guessing it borrowed heavily from the myth of Goku the Monkey King. I don't really know much of it beyond what Dragonball covered.
